  1. On Trinity's website it says they scrimmaged Moeller on 11/18 but after extensive research I have not found any information on this game. Also this scrimmage does not appear on Moeller's website. Not sure what happened here.

Would have love to have seen that one if it had happened. 2 amazing programs that are both talented and well coached. Too bad it didn't if it didn't.

  2. I am extremely glad that we recommended Covington Catholic to participate in this tournament. My friend, Jim Haley, was the tournament manger for the Kingdom of the Sun tournament for over 40 years. In 1980 Fairdale went to the Kingdom...came home and started the KOB. Every year Coach Haley calls me for recommendations concerning Kentucky teams. I am always proud to recommend our great Kentucky teams.

Jim Haley is one of the best ever!!! My Malone teams played in the Kingdom 4 times in the 90's I believe. All went 3-1 except my best team LOL. Went 0-2. Flu killed us during a stretch. Lost 4 straight including those 2. Jim is big time!

  3. No. Florida Calvary Christian

I'm not at all sure how good CC is this year, but last year they were probably the 2nd or 3rd best overall team in the state. Boasted a lineup of 7-0, 6-9, 6-6 plus 2 very good guards and a 6-11 and 6-8 coming off the bench. Not near as good this year I don't think though, but they'll be solid.

  4. Not sure about schools in Ky, but yes there are schools across the country that get ALL of their gear free from either Nike, Adidas, or Under Armour depending on who sponsors them. Most of the time it is schools who are nationally ranked or have high level players and it is also many times schools that have PLENTY of resources on their own and don't really need free gear.

  5. One thing that makes their pressure so effective is how sound they are in implementing it. Their rotations, helpside, and backside coverages are very good. When you can press and pressure teams without giving up a lot, and you take a lot of charges it makes it very difficult on the oppisition. Hard to duplicate in a practice session. Next to impossible for most programs.

  6. It seems to me from reading some of these responses that some of these top 25 jobs are at that level because of the coach leading the program. The coach at Cooper has done a phenomenal job, Ruthsatz at CC has taken a very good program and turned it into a great program, Hicks, Renner, & Szabo continue to turn out top teams each year. Not disagreeing on anything just thought this was a point that needed to be made. There are a few other programs that would have been viewed much higher a few years ago, but have gone through coaching changes and are no longer viewed as higher level programs/jobs.

  7. If you are interested in playing in a shootout in the northern part of Florida please let me know. The dates are Dec. 28th & 29th for the post Christmas shootout and Jan. 12th, 13, & 15th for the MLK shootout. On the MLK shootout you can choose to play any combination of the dates posted. You can play 1, 2, or 3 games at the MLK. For the post Christmas you would play both days obviously. You can contact me through email (matt523anderson@gmail.com) or on twitter at CoachA523. Competition and crowds will be very good as will the hospitality room for both. Thanks, Coach Matt Anderson.

  8. I've coached in Fl for 28 years now and have never heard of Conrad Academy. Not saying it isn't a legit school but they have never played in any event I have ever followed and you know if I am on a Ky message board from Fl I certainly try to follow the events in my own state. Hate to hear this!

  9. Took Hopewell HS in Va. to the state finals this past year losing at the buzzer to the highly favored Norcom. Was close by me at Tallahassee Community College when they were 1 of the top juco's in the country. Knows the game at an extremely high level. Would have been very difficult for Mercer to find anyone better I assure you! Home-run hire!!!

  10. Scott County did beat Dunbar in the KBA State Tournament but it was in pool play. Scott County lost in the semi finals of bracket play to Christian County in a close game and Dunbar defeated Christian County in the finals by 14-15 points.

Thanks so much! I found the Dunbar/Scott Co. game on youtube. Does anyone know if the championship game or other games in the KBA or online ???

  11. In an earlier post it was stated the Scott County beat Dunbar in pool play of the KBA to give Dunbar their only loss of the summer, so with that being said I guess they won the KBA tourney? Is this correct? Secondly I guess Taylor County must have lost most of their talent as they aren't mentioned anywhere although their new coaching hire has been mentioned (and I am certainly not disagreeing here) as a homerun hire. This is a question about Taylor Co. although it may not seem like it.

  12. That certainly does make things easier for sure. I won several state titles here in Fl when I had guys who went, D-2 or juco as opposed to nobody going to college on any level. I was impressed though by him also having the records at the 2 previous schools he was a head coach at before MC. The timeout deal for me anyway is more of a gut feeling. We as coaches definitely over coach at times and we also under coach at times too. It is a thankless job for sure, but I don't think there is an absolute in late game situations. I have my beliefs on O & D and things we teach and work on so we are prepared but 7 of our 10 losses last year came on the last possession which to me had much more to do with 5 of my top 8 being sophomores and 2 more being juniors, so hopefully that helps remedy itself in those situations this coming season.
