  1. If they would vote it in, it would stay for a two-year cycle and would not take effect until the following year (to keep a team from voting it in one year that they are up).
  2. I think the key phrase in all of these is when the defender "gains an advantage" by reaching or hand-checking or any other contact.
  3. YES, that is another one people ALWAYS yell about. I just remembered another....When a shot hits the rim and then hits a couple of times on the top of the backboard and everyone yells that it is out of play or over the backboard.
  4. You are correct and six feet is a lot farther away than the distance that most officials will start their count. I think over time, some officials have made them guard to the point where they are within hands reach and that isn't the rule. IT IS 6 feet, which is way they hold both arms out wide when they are not close enough.
  5. The refs thread was closed because part of it was taking a possible ugly turn but another possible turn the thread was taking is one I like. The ideas that Frances had on fans who are clueless about some calls refs make. Which ones make you laugh when fans go nuts but have no clue what the rules are. Frances pointed out two good ones---the "Over and Back" at half court and the "5 Second" call. My favorite is the block/charge call. It is a very difficult one but there could be the most obvious block or charge in the world and the fans who didn't get the call will go crazy. My favorite fan quote is "His/her feet weren't set", thinking that their feet must be set in concrete for a full second before a charge can be called. Anyone else have some? Frances, have anymore you would like to vent about?
  6. If he had four years with the 3-point line, Scott Draud would have shattered all of those records. He put up 69 on Holmes the year before the line was put in. Out of curiosity, the next year they went back and watched the tape and said that he would have had 17 threes. I also saw him do a shooting clinic like the one mentioned earlier in the thread---he hit 7 threes at nine different spots around the three point line and missed 7....63 for 70....not bad. Chris Lofton would be second.
  7. Were they down 1 and the 2 points made it 3 so he shot it or were they up 1, then down 1....if so, did Hebron go down and score or was it an error? Still, nice "home court" advantage.
  8. At the freshman level, yes, I can see that happening (having someone who doesn't know how to keep a book). No way the scorebook was correct.
  9. If I can recall, NCC lost to Beechwood (several times in a row) who Bellevue defeated this year.
  10. Should be a good one. Beechwood usually finds a way to win these games. Beechwood 24-21.
  11. I just couldn't let you toot your own horn and get off that easy. I think NCC should win the game because their passing attack is very good but if Bellevue can control the clock with their running game and keep it close until the 4th then anything can happen.
  12. You're like the guy in the FedEx commercial....You're always wrong...how are you always wrong?...let's review the facts.... 1. You thought Beechwood would beat Bellevue...if I remember correctly 2. You thought NCC would win by 3 TD's in the first game and only a cheap TD by the JV would make it that close....it was 6-0 with a minute left. 3. You thought Bellevue could not hang with NCC 4. You said there would be 3 or 4 personal fouls late in the game...was there? 5. You said Cov Cath would beat Highland...if I'm not mistaken 6. AND you get fringe benefits, not FRENCH benefits. You're quite and expert. :thumb:
