I have heard several coaches say that the job looks better from a distance than close up. I take this to mean that the kids are there, but not the total commitment from top down. Still this is just hearsay. Only those who are in the know can truly say.

You hit a grand slam with that statement.

I'm not sure on the weight part but what I know, jobs will be hard to come by. Plus they just gave isap to another basketball coach.

Edit: as for weights part, they never did in the past.

Pp only reason I see is lack of jobs in school for Fball coaches and lack of in school weight program on why French wouldn't accept.

At face value, and I understand only those interviewing knows what they want. However if the names on this list are in fact interviewing for this position it would seem to be a 2 horse race. I mean, no offense to anyone, but how could you not offer a veteran head coach who has a couple state championships on his resume, or an experienced head coach who has been very successful as a head coach throughout his career, in favor of a couple of unknown up and coming assistants and a handful of middle school coaches? It just doesn't make sense.

I know of 3 coaches interviewing for it, and was told they already know who they want but just waiting on their guy to accept. Seems to be more buddy buddy system working at SW.

UK sends as many to the NFL as does Michigan. Denver has 3 guys on their team from UK I think.

I'm not a Michigan fan, so I could care less really. However Michigan sends more in bad years then UK does in good ones. Not being disrespectful just facts.

UM fired OC Al Borges today. His mom said Damien was closest to Coach Borges of all of the UM staff.

Don't believe everything you read about this. The OC fits much better to his style at UM then Borges did. Was a relationship there but it wasn't necessarily with the Harris family....

You mean to tell me he actually had people to call the offense and defense (we will call them coordinators) and he did all the administrative stuff (we will call that everything else)?? Absurd! I can assure you, MANY head coaches wish they had that luxury. What do you think the coaches at most MAJOR programs do? They allow their coaches to coach the kids and they coach their coaches. Im not saying he was or wasn't right for the program....but after Coach Anderson who would have wanted the job?

Yes, the TOP programs as you so sarcastically put it have OC/DC coaches who do this and the HC does the admin things. At those TOP schools does the HC know what Offense is going to be ran each week? Does the HC at those TOP schools know what Defense is going to be ran each week? Yes they do, IN this case Stephens a lot of times didn't know and didn't care to know. Again, I don't expect you to listen or believe me and I understand your point but in this case it wasn't the case.

And after Anderson, haha You'd be surprised on who inquired about that job but wasn't given the opportunity.

He did take them to the semis but it was Coach Andersons team and assistants that got them there.. After the season Stephens got rid of all assistants and anything associated with the Warrior program before his arrival and completely shut out all past boosters, supporters and alumni... Not a good decision.

That is exactly what I was told to from people more familiar with SW. Basically was told Stephens handled the day to day administration stuff, while a few of the assistant actually handled the game planning.

Spoke to some people in the know. They say it wasn't an option, he was pushed.

PP he is rumored to be close at Madison Central but if he gets call at FTH he'd be crazy not to take it.

Sec should change their name to the SOA conference or State of Alabama conference. Take away Auburn/Bama Sec is well just another conference. They have accounted for 4 of the 7.

So, does defense win championships? Because Auburn can't play defense for crap. Auburn's going to score, obviously. But I can't see them consistently stopping FSU.

 

FSU has a great O-Line, they have great WRs, and, oh yeah, a great QB. Auburn's key will be to get some pass rush, because FSU's receivers are going to dominate Auburn's secondary. I trust FSU's defense which has athletes all over to have some success against Auburn's rushing attack, and certainly more than Auburn's D against FSU.

Auburn is nothing but triple option from the gun. FSU plays assignment football, they will stop it.

FSU RBs get zero credit. Freeman, Wilder and Karlos freak Williams. Best 3 headed RB monster in the country.
