  1. Yes, you were playing SW2000. You guys lost to Harrodsburg in a hard fought contest. However, I do not believe in superstitions.

Did you not play any sports? I thought every athlete or person who played sports did believe in it.

    LTW Yes I DO!! ha-ha....

Sitting here at work watching the UK game on a little Tv we brought in.. ha-ha

  2. Playing Harrodsburg for the right to go the 2000 12th Region Championship game.

Lost by 4 to them. I fouled out with 1:45 left from a crap call when going for a loose ball. (Officiating was bad on both ends that game).

6 seniors on the team with a JR who could fill it up. 2 days before the game Isaiah Super tore his ACL in Practice. If we would have had him and his aver of 12 points a game we win and would have played Mercer Co in the championship game.

Super tried to play in the game but just couldn't move and it was gutsy effort by him to even try. Even without him we had chanced to win just didn’t hit our FT's. Of course that is the same team (SW) that won the 48th district title that year out of the blue. We were loaded athletically but only had played as a full team that senior year after a couple people quit then rejoined their Senior year. 3 guys who had played all basketball and then 2 that came on from the football team that hadn't played since their freshman/soph years. Loaded SR class. (Blair, Boon, Merrick, Tingle, Maybrier, Skaggs, Gregory and one outstanding JR in Super)

Those were the day’s Super stays healthy I still think we play in RUPP.

  3. I always like playing at Danville b/c of the Tradition there. Bell Co was fun if you wanted to play a football game then fight the refs after the game.

Boyle Co great field and awesome fans it made for a great atmosphere.

Enjoyed playing at South Laurel but only because there was great Scenery to look at and I am not talking about the Hills or country side!! :thumb:

Of course no place like home SW!

  4. First let me say that I, in know way am making excuses for Southwestern. Coach Anderson and the players, past and present, do not need me to make excuses for them. I just don't appreciate when people make uniformed comments about things where they don't know all the circumstances.

1999 Bullitt East 4 seed vs. Southwestern 1 seed. 1st round of the playoffs.

Bullitt East 19 Southwestern 15, in one of the best football games I have ever witnessed. Bullitt East did come in as a 4, but lets look a little closer. The only reason being, that you previously mentioned a 4 seed rarely beats a 1 seed.

That season B.E. had 2 or 3 starters that were suspended for a couple of district football games that led to defeats. Maybe they would have lost those games anyway but most people who knew what was going on would say that the suspensions were a factor. Maybe some Bullitt East folks could tell us for sure what may have happened. Had it not been for that situation the SW vs. BE game would have probably been for the Regional Champ.

Bullitt East went on to win the Region Championship against a Lincoln Co. Team that SW handled pretty easily during the regular season. Again I realize that if; "if's and but's were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

No one is more dissapointed that SW has been knocked out of the playoffs, but a wise man once said, "unless you win in Louisville in December, the season ends the same for every team." I am not saying that to try and sugar coat anything, but it is High School football and while yes, you play to compete and hopefully win a championship, there are very few people who can say they played in a state championship contest, or better yet won a state title.

I admire all those who coach HS sports because they do it for very little money. It is their dedication and desire to see young people develope into young adults, that coaches a very special breed.

You will be hard pressed to find a more hard working coach than Dale Anderson. He does not need me to defend him, but I am going to say a couple of things on his behalf.

Yes, several Warriors have gone on to play football at the next level and that is due to the fact that Coach A and his staff work hard to make sure their kids get recognized by the colleges looking for football players. Not many coaches put that kind of time and effort into seeing that their kids get the opportunity to play after high school. Besides football players, I have witnessed Coach A help non-football players get into college on scholarships.

I have watched him help kids who play other sports who wanted to play at the college level, get aid and or scholarships, so they could continue their playing careers and get an education.

I can also tell you that when the helmet comes off for the final time, Coach A has always been there for his players. I have watched as kids who played many years ago have come forward for assistance and Dale has done what ever he could to help out. I have seen him answer a phone call only to take off to be with the family of a player that has suffered some sort of crises.

I may be out of line, but I would suggest that if anyone would try to remove Dale Anderson as Head Coach of the Southwestern Warriors they would be in for a battle of "Titanic Proportions." I believe the Warrior Nation would stand behind Coach A if this type of scenario ever developed. I also think there would be several former players and families of those players from outside the Southwestern Program who would defend Coach A. Dale Anderson and his wife have made sacrifice after sacrifice for the players, coaches and families of Southwestern Football. They do so out of love and a passion to see kids become successful members of the community.

I have gone on way too long and do not wish to discuss this topic any further. Dale Anderson and his staff have my support as a proud member of the Warrior Nation. Thank you to Coach A, his beautiful wife, and all those who have made being a part of Southwestern Football a wonderful experience.

    "SOUTHWESTERN FOREVER"

    Agree 100% Bucknut!!!

Every Team has some curse they can't shake.

Red sox finally got their curse off, the Bills never did.

In sports it's all about match-ups, who plays the best that night.

The Warriors needed to play their best game to beat BE, and probably played the worse game they could.

The defense kept them in it the 1st qtr, but you can't ask them to do it as often as they had too.

You can't have TO's like SW did against a 11-0 team and win. Just won't happen.
