Wasn't there, don't know the scoop, but did find it curious as to why Breathitt was throwing the football up 4 touchdowns and only a couple of minutes remaining.
-
History would tell you that a transfer of this type will warrant a five game suspension or something like that. I guess that ruling would apply.

Why can't we go to a draft league?

Does anyone know what Ivan's record against Ashland is?

:thumb: That is fantastic..!!! Congratulations to little Yak and to Poppa Yak for caring enough to allow his son to tag along.
Thanks. Nothing like hearing him say "Dad, there he is" There were two jakes and a Tom that came looking. The old one figured it out real quick, but the jakes were not as sharp. It was truly exciting and I thank God for the opportunity to share that with my little one.

Mr. Damron was a quality man that raised a quality family. My prayers go out to the family. Our loss is heaven's gain.

Why is it considered an evenly called game when fouls and foul shots are close? The amount of fouls and free throws should never enter an officials mind nor should they be a judging point of fairness by the supporters of a team.

There is no individual differences inside the Elliott Co. locker room.
That is great to know.
-
Please don't let individual differences cause this team to implode. A little temperance now could mean huge things in two years. I am not from Sandy Hook but I want to see local teams get some statewide recognition and this bunch has an opportunity to do that over the next three years. Good luck in Richmond.

Some kids that are held back, for whatever reason, don't play at their "grade level", they play "up". If you are holding your child back to simply dominate kids younger than your child, then you have a problem. Some boys simply physically mature later and will not be ready to go off to college at the age of 17 or even 18. Girls, on the other hand, tend to mature sooner than boys. Last time I checked it is 100% legal with the KHSAA By-laws. Apparently there is a good reason for that.
Never said it was illegal. I said that it is the parent's choice and I hope that it is in the best interest of the kid. I also said that I really don't care. The other thing that I mentioned was that it is larger competitive advantage in middle school than high school. I even got Frances to concur. Therefore no need to check the KHSAA By-laws.

After reading the paper and watching the game here is my final post.
Ashland won the game and was well prepared. They played hard and phyisical and had different players step up and make plays. The Royals shouldnt worry to much about this loss though. It took 4 phantom fouls on the younger Jackson and were outshot on the free throw line 25-4. Malloy, Bush, and Arthur looked very comfortable out on the floor tonight which is a great sign that the team is maturing and will be much better come March. Man what tournament the 64th will be. It could be better than the regional tourament. Which ever 2 teams come out ot the 64th (and it could be any of the four) will have a shot at a rematch in the finals.
Its still a long time till March. No need for any team to throw in the towel.
I don't understand why the number of fouls or free throws for that matter have to be equal for a game to be well officiated. I would not want an official to be concerned about the number of fouls on each team and keeping them even. You are just asking for questionable whistles if that is one of their goals. Out of curiousity, how many fouls, in your opinion did the young Mr. Jackson get away with?
-
If Ashland can bring the energy that they showed last night I think they win by 8-10. If they do not it will be a coin toss.
-
Holdbacks will always be an issue and until kids are mature it matters. If you think it cannot be a competetive advantage consider this I know of a situation where two boys who attend the same school pitched against each other in a little league all star game and both were league age 12. One of those boys is in the 10th grade now and one is in the 8th grade now. I don't care why really, I trust the parents make choices that are best for the child. I have not seen the 8th grader play basketball but I would feel safe to say the he has an advantage over those he is playing against at that level. As the kids get older, those advantages tend to disappear.

Does Knipp start? If he and Maynard are coming off the bench they are getting a lot of scoring outside the starting five.

Here is the thing with UK. I realize that conference losses are inevitable but I am not confident that they can avoid losing three or four in a row. In years past I have been confident that a UK team would not have an extended losing streak. The last two years I have no comfort level with any game they play. I hope they can win at Georgia and then beat Tennessee. It will be a lot tougher after that.

How does Rose Hill beat Lewis County by 20, then Lewis beats Raceland by about 10-15, then Rose Hill gets beat by Raceland by 20?  :creepy:
The same way that Marshall beats Virginia Tech who beats Duke and UNC.
-
I personally think that Elliott, Russell, Rose Hill, Ashland, Rowan, Boyd, Greenup, and possibly East and Raceland have a chance to win 3 in a row at the right time.
I agree with a big emphasis on "the right time". I just think right now there are two that have separated themselves. If Elliott wins tomorrow they will have tourney experience this year as well as last year.
-
So, when Rose Hill loses one that everyone thought they'd win, they suddenly become a year away?
In scooterbob's defense he has always stated that Rose Hill is a year away as has RickyP. I think they both have a little anxiousness over this year because it is not totally out of the question.
Thanks mcpapa for the info. If you figure in the district tournament and a 5 game winning streak, (I know that it is 4 out of 5) I would say at this point the only Russell and Elliott have proven they are capable of stringing together that many region wins. I am discounting the wins against Fleming because they are down and multiple wins against the same team. If the regional tourney was played today those are the two capable. However it is not March and only time will tell. I will see you all in Morehead.
-
How many region teams have had three game winning streaks within the region this year? Discount a game if includes the same team twice. Just curious.

Sorry, I couldn't resist I was reared in a very rural part of the state myself. I was taught the ideals of truth and compromise as a child, funny how we forget these things as adults.

Oh it wasn't crack was it. I am going to watch a young man play a sixth grade basketball game. I want him to be proud of me not Michael Vick.

Just be careful and don't get eVicked....sorry, couldn't resist must be something in the "water".
Stop me, I'm on a "roll"
You crack me up.

:scared: You can't sing either....
I'm picturing you and HHSDad, setting around a table writing all these "hits", with a cloud of smoke surrounding you. Open a window....
Willie Nelson is actually doing the song writing and yes the smoke is rollin'

How about this one:
So tell me Mike why do you drink
Why do you blow smoke
Why must you live
Out the stories Marcus wrote
O ver and o ver
Put yourself in Mike's unique position

Like I said wasn't there don't know the story, when I turned on the radio I thought that it was odd. Up 4 scores, I would have guessed that the second string would be in with 2 or 3 minutes left in the game. I'm not from either school, just curious is all.
