You know where I am from they teach you how to shoot in low light conditions.

Here's a question, Dakota Euton was initially ruled ineligible because of something about choosing his school after the family moved based on athletics. If these athletes indeed leave Rose Hill and are touring various schools and talking to the coaches would this make them ineligible? One more, one of the kids mentioned is the Rose Hill basketball coaches son, correct?

Here's a pic of the turkey. The old man had his finger partially over the lens of his phone when he took it, but considering he is technologically challenged, it ain't too bad.
Look honey they both have red heads. Good for you bean!

I agree it starts with quality parents or grandparents teaching the right things.
-
I think that both the teams you mention were blessed with talented kids whose parents believed in working hard to achieve. It never hurts to have three Gearhart girls, coaches kids both for WC and Boyd and supportive parents.
-
Just helping os with the facts. The girls coach you mentioned made a statement once that great coaches don't make great teams, great players do. If those teams did it right then why did they change
-
Hey old shooter, Tell you what I believe are facts. I believe that during the three year span that you mentioned, Hager and Rose Hill played once. It was during the 5th grade year in the first round of the Opt Tourney. This game Hager won. The Rose Hill coach stated that he took the "Hager bullet" in that tourney. That Hager team never played Rose Hill and decided that it was a scrimmage. They won the only meeting between the schools.
-
Really? Care to elaborate on Hager's side of the primary issue? Did they and do they dodge RH or not? Or possibly, instead of the "trick" in the tournament scenerio which did happen but possibly may have been a different year, did they lose during that "streak" to RH but afterward declare it a practice game so they wouldn't have to count it? Be honest and forget the spin.
Tell me more about how the trick happened. I'm curious

A couple of years ago, there was a big and impressive article in the newspaper about Hager's Sixth Grade team winning over 50 games in a row in their years at Hager. It sounded great until I was told that the record was built by beating Ashland's other elementary teams and not by beating the best in the area.
I also believe that that same Hager team was sort of "tricked" into playing Rose Hill in a tournament, possibly at Russell (I do know that Ashland's elementary teams are forbidden from playing Rose Hill even in charitable tournaments). Needless to say, Rose Hill cleaned the undefeated Hager team by a rather big margin.
Assuming all this is true, it serves as a good example of why Ashland struggles at most all levels in basketball. You can't continually hide.
Not true

Just got in from the game. Ferg was the MVP and did a great job on 6'7" Mike Terry. Terry only had about 3 pts. or maybe 5 pts. when the starters went out with about 4 minutes left. He got some more garbage baskets after that. Game was never in doubt from start to finish. Really EC didn't shoot all that well or it would have been 50 vs. 30+ when the starters left halfway through the final period.
Rose Hill fans have reason for optimism the next few years. Most all those kids were sophomores and freshman. Freshman Corey Gregg is a load and has got to be one of the top freshman in the state. That kid is super strong and knows how to score in the paint. Must have had something like 20 points and 10-12 rebounds against a really good defense.
Richmond make way---Here come the Lions. McBrayer Arena should be rocking and rolling. Heck, Joe B. may be in attendance when EC plays??
Dang 6'7'' when I saw him a couple of weeks ago he was around 6'3''.

IMO Porter looked like an average high school guard last night. He has no ability with his left hand. He fumbled 2 or 3 passes, one hand off, and dribbled/handed the ball to his defender who wasn't even tightly guarding him. They can't consistently beat quality teams without better guard play. He even shot an uncontested layup and didn't draw iron.

If West wins will this secured the 2 seed? If so where does that leave Morgan and East
-
I think he was consistently in the low 80's last year as an 8th grader. 81-83 He chose not to play basketball at Ashland this year to focus on getting stronger. If he is able to add 6-10 in the next four years he will be a solid prospect. Already has a lot of poise on the mound.
-
This is the type of game that MP has shown he will struggle in. If he is able to not turn the ball over UK will win. I think turnovers is the key statistic, with the over and under being 16. Under 16 Uk wins, over 16 Tenn wins.
-
Ashland will also have a freshman lefty throw a lot of innings. Same kid who started at QB this year. Sam Hunter, very high ceiling, especially because he throws with the wrong hand. Threw in several games last year as an 8th grader.

One of a few interesting games on tap for tonight. If West wins, they are for sure the second ranked region team. If not then someone else is #2. (Get it #2)
-
I believe they are affiliated. I think that they are cousins in the same way that Taylor Webb and Jeremy are cousins. If I'm not mistaken David Rayburn and Joy Webb Rayburn are the parents of Aaron.
-
I think they should play the next Elliott vs West game outdoors with the barn as a goal support. Somewhere on Mauk Ridge maybe or on 986. What a game that would be. I'm in fo sho. Maybe in the spring so we can chase a few old gobblers while we're out there. I've got it we can use Gary Carroll's parking lot. So we could eat while we were there.
-
Is the record different come tourney time between East and West? Just curious, I once read a statement from an EC coach something like "I wouldn't trade one game for the overall record" Then he watched WC play in the regional tourney.
-
Which would lead to another question, if you beat someone by 75+ would it almost have to be intentional?
We are off subject and i apologize. Elliott will be able to call the score if they play Boyd tonight.
-
That would have been real possible if WA could not get the ball in bounds, to their teammates anyway.
This is true. Why I mentioned no full court pressure. One would think that up by say 80-90 full court pressure would not be applied.
-
Heres a what if lets say that Jackson made 35 free throws in the game. That would leave 180 points to gain in 32 minutes. Still very nearly at 6 per minute. If they shot 100% from the field, they would have to make a shot every 20 seconds. If there was no full ct pressure this would almost be impossible. That is just a staggering number of points.
-
215 without a 3 point line? How many minute quarters? If 8 minute quarters, that is over 6 points per minute.
