  1. St. Henry might have had one of the worst games I've seen all year. Western Hills went to a 2-3 Zone from the start and rarely came out. St. Henry went 4-21 from 3pters. One of those was a first quarter heave at the buzzer by Lenhof.

The Crusaders just couldn't find the bucket and turned the ball over way too much. Things are going to have get better if the Cru is going to beat Conner and go to the regionals.

  2. I pumped for the Oak Hill vs. NCH game this Sat at US BANK ARENA. So I thought I'd check out the Oak Hill Roster on the web site and something got my attention. 3 Players on the Gold Team, which is the #1 team in the nation are from KY.

Albert Jackson 6'10 C Earlington KY

Matt Sherbenske 6'1 G Lexington KY

Jared Long 6'4 G Stanford KY

I've heard of Albert Jackson. I forget where he played last year. Here are my questions!!

What high school did these players play in previous years while playing in KY?

Are these 3 boys signed anywhere to play college ball?

Do they start or see anytime for Oak Hill?

  3. I think this is going to be a one of just a few great matchups this week in high school basketball. We have OJ and NCH vs. Oak Hill. Taft (basically Herky White) vs. Dayton Dunbar. CCH vs. Scott Co and even Pendleton and Highlands. What a great week for HS basketball!!!

I haven't yet seen Scott Co. but hear alot about them. I know they have 4 good guards. The only one I've seen is Haddix. I saw him this summer and he is the real deal. Kid is physically strong for a sg/sf and can flat out jump if I'm remebering the right kid. How will Scott Co. handle the CCH press? Does Scott Co. have any big men. Thats what seems to give CCH the most trouble.

I'm going to guess the fans and boys from Scott Co arn't going to know what to expect once they reach Park Hills. I guarentee they haven't ever played in such a hostile enviroment as they will tomorrow night. Anyone know the theme for the students?

So with the tough enviroment and no stud big man, i'm going to take covcath. I can see the students storming the court already.

    Scott Co 74

    CCH 78

  4. From what I here what has been going on in the locker room, this coach should not run the program as he pleases.

I don't know what goes on in the locker room. But I can tell you this. Brad Carr is a well respected coach in the area. He is a little hard nosed and might get in the face of his kids every once in awhile, but kids need that. Not every program can be run like CCH. Coaches have to be negative sometimes. At CCH is you do wrong, there is no butt chewing. They just pull you out and put in another talent. At Scott, if you don't chew out a kid for doing something he shouldn't, then he might not fix it at all.

  5. How is Coach Carr taking these losses.. does it seem like he is still in it as much as he used to be, or does he also look deprived of energy for the game?

I didn't even realize Scott has lost 8 in row. To me they didn't play like it. Maybe in the 1st quarter. They were down by more than 20 and fought back to get it to 9 at one point. 2,3,4th quarters they definetly showed effort for the most part. They are a scrappy bunch, besides Howard though, they don't have any rebounders.

Coach Carr can't be taking the losses well, but he still has these guys going 110% all the time. No coach likes to lose, but I'm guessing this is a young bunch of guys for the most part and they looked young. He doesn't look deprived of energy to me. He was all over the place as usual. Coaching the kids up as much as he could.

The truth at scott right now is, they don't have the talent. One day Carr will have these boys down state. Quote me on that, they will win the 10 Region while Carr is the coach. (if he stays for a while and he is able to run his program as he pleases).

  6. Arrez Henderson will only be a serious contender if he can learn the guard spot. Right now he is living on the baseline and has no effective perimeter game. He become a more complete player offensively. He is a strong defender and rebounder. Again, he is a 6'1" forward.

I can agree with these statement. He has to develop a consistant shot from the outside also. He is playing like a top notch player right now, but how will he handle the situation as a senior when he doesn't have Duran or Austin or Edmondson to attract some of the attention and get him the ball.

  7. CovCath seems to be rolling as of right now. Steady play by Tierney, Jacobs, Bovard, and especially the new big inside/outside threat of Danny Noll has been a big help. I think Scott will keep it close for the first half maybe keep it in sigle digits but then CovCath will pull away in the second half:

    Scott 47

    CCH 63

  8. I will agree that Beechwood has certainly hit the wall of late and seem to be running out of gas but I don't see HC giving CCH much trouble at all. I believe CCH wins by between 15-20.

The only problem CCH will have in HC's gym is making sure they don't slip and slide all over the place. Really shouldn't be able to host the District there until some improvements are made.

Not arguing with you, but I'd just like to hear why you think they won't have much trouble with HC. 15-20 is pretty impressive. I hope its true. But HC gave them everything they had in the first matchup, don't see much changing.

  9. Holmes and CCH can go ahead and pencil in their District final rematch. Neither will have any trouble with their 1st round games.

Not true. I know for a fact that CCH was rooting on Beechwood. They are smart enough to realize you don't want to play a hard nosed holy cross team on their own hostile floor. Who would? Why would anyone not want to play beechwood. The Tigers have hit a hard spot and seem to be struggling.

  10. Ok this is my only problem with Rice quitting. I know BigStud is a pretty reliable source, but I also know I'm not the only one who has heard this before. Supposably last season Greg Rice quit on numerous occasions and once even right before Regionals started. And we all know how that ended. He hit big shot after big shot in the semifinal game to give holmes a 9th region title.

I'm not saying I don't buy it that he quit. But should I? and will it last?

  11. I think the question is how did the Crusaders lose by 21 points!? Good grief.

    -CF

HOW??? Are you joking CardinalsFan? Apparently you haven't seen either team much this season. I have seen LC 3 times this year, never at full strength and I think they are a top 10-15 team in the state easy. HC win over LC had to be because of Football players missing, beacause this LexCath team is for real.

Everyone knows I'm a big St. Henry fan and see them as much as anyone. They have done a good job this year and I applaud them for a good season so far. #1 Seed in the 33rd is pretty impressive. But they came hard to play last night and just didn't and don't have the man power that LexCath has.

Truthfully I thought 21 was pretty respectable.

  12. Did Jessie Jett fro Scott, transfer back to NKU from Marshall? I know he had knee trouble and i can't remember if he ever suited up for the Norse.

Also were is Sean Rowland from?

Yes Rowland and Kelsey are from Elder and are both now the freshman coaches at Elder.

Jesse was going to play at NKU, from what I hear Ken Sheilds asked him twice to come out, but the knee never got healthy. That boy could shoot and could flat out play. I played some intramurals with him and he was in pain then.

  13. Does everyone agree that highlands will do a better job than any team in the 9th, slowing the game down? Jacobs and Tierney like to run and don't have a dominant big man like Votel, so it was hard for them to slow the game down. Thats just not how they play.

Pendleton Co. can slow it down and that had an effect on Holmes. Shelby Co had dominant big men and that allowed them to go right at the weak interior of Holmes D. I'm just asking is this going to be huge factor? I think it will.

  14. The only reason he gets frustrated is if the refs don't control Ben G.

Have anyone ever been able to control him. I think he will get into the heads of the Holmes players. He can do that and does it better than anyone that Holmes has faced all year. He's not going to be the deciding factor but he is going to be a big factor. How many technicals do you think will be given in this game?
