    A. Douglass went to Hoover Alabama this past July and played in a national 7 v. 7 tournament.

    B. As has been stated several times since Douglass was moved to 5A 3 years ago they only have 1 date to schedule where other schools have at least 6 or maybe 7 games to schedule. Douglass is required by the FCPS to play the other 5 city schools every year. In the 3 years for their one game at the end of the season they have scheduled the following Lexington Catholic (2019), St. X (2020 was cancelled due to covid), Boyle Co. (2021). Plus last year they picked up due to a covid cancellation Lexington Christian Academy. Finally some of the past scrimmages they have had in their brief history is they have scrimmaged Trinity twice, Corbin, GRC, and Madison Southern the year they made the 5A state title game.

This is a great post! It really hurts them that the Fayette County superintendent requires them to play all other Fayette Co public schools. That is good for no one.

What is going on at Douglass?

Last night was a horrendous display of football by the Broncos and generally speaking over the years the Frederick Douglass football program seems to underachieve.

So I will ask again, what is going on at Frederick Douglass?

There is a reason I didn’t have the ranked as the top team in Lexington for most of the year. It finally became evident once they played a great opponent.

I think they do. Franklin County, Corbin and Johnson Central will have to battle each other out to make it to State. Boyle County wouldn't play none of the top 3 until the State Championship. And I know Boyle County will probably play Lexington Catholic in the second round, but I don't think it will be a close game this time around.

Yes if BC gets by Lex Cath qtrs and semis should be pretty easy for them.

Wow, I didn’t realize my post would get 3 replies in 30 minutes.  Must have ruffled some feathers.  I think my point is spot on so it’s OK to say “yeah my mistake”.  Where is my “that was easy” button from staples.

Curious where you would rank LCA regardless of class and who you would rank above them.

LCA was 4th and after a tight one with Pikeville leapfrogged X, after X beat Trinity?  ....mmmK

In the preseason you called me out for putting LCA in the top 10. You always seem to think they are ranked too high. What more do they need to prove?  Would you have them below 4 now or in top 4?

LCA’s wins over CAL, Boyle etc keep looking better and better each week. Especially after what CAL did to Mercer Friday.  Most places have Pikeville and Trinity ranked around similar and LCA beat Pikeville by 17, X beat T by 7. Not saying LCA’s win is more impressive bur it is not bad.

The Owensboro team I watched Friday is no way 17th. They are way better than that. As long as Wimsatt is at QB, they are a top 5 team. He was very good last year and now a year older looks even better.

Looks like we will never know how Owensboro would have done in 2021 playoffs with Wimsatt 😞
