  1. In order for Montgomery to win they must contain Knowles. He lit South Laurel up until they put a guy face guarding him the whole court and ran another guy at him whenever he had the ball. With Jones out I think the Indians must try to keep the pressure on Knowels and try to get him in foul trouble or at least really tired. I would try and make somebody else beat me.

However Knowles is so talented he will make an impact no matter what. I think if Knowles scores under 20 the Indians have a good chance.

  2. Great game. The Indians came up just short. I was loving it when GRC could just run out the clock but threw a pass which landed incomplete on 2nd down. Could have been one of the worst meldowns I have ever witnessed if they had lost. The Indians have improved. The line and qb Curtis did a great job. Robelle Rogers had a great game for GRC.

  3. I think GRC and Mason are legit top 10 teams. I guess I gotta give a very slight edge to Mason because the teams are almost the same and Mason won the game last year (of course it wasn't on a neutral court, but that is irrelevant, lol.)

Anyway I would say Knowles should be a mr. b-ball candidate. He is legit.

Mason will have there share of Mr. b-ball candidates with Miller next year and possibly Middleton after that if he continues to improve.

I am looking forward to the Montgomery-Clark showdown, maybe they will pick up where the playoff football game left off.

  4. With Haddix, Scott Co would be #1 but I still think they are a top 5 team. I would also include South Laurel, Ballard, J-town, and Warren Central. Ballard has the state's best backcourt (Hamilton and Beckham). J-town has mr. b-ball candidate Coleman and some other strong contributers from last years title team. Warren Central is looking to sixth-peat in the 4th and they have most of their starters back including Anderson, Britt and Hood. South Laurel has their best player back in Proffitt (sorry Walt Allen.) And also Smith and Bowling. The Cards still have Walls, uk recruit Mackey and a bunch of other guys back like the big man Lee.

  5. I lived in FL for 2 years. They have six classes and the highest (6A) is made up of 4 different regions in which 2 are entirely Miami. Of course the two Miami regions meet in the semis and not the finals. But they are in the far corner of the state. Louisville has a simliar situation in 4A (in the past but they didn't meet until the finals.) Of course they are in the middle of the state so that could account for the difference.

I guess my point is that 6A is basically the Miami invitational. What if KY had a class 5A which was all Louisville, or at least close?

  6. Sorry, but you have to be the best player on your team (unless of course O.J. is on your team as a jr and you are a sr.). But anyway that disqualifies Walt Allen, Ty Proffit is better.

Anyway I have't seen Owens but I would vote for Slaughter 1 and Crutcher 2. From what I have heard Buckner and Owens shouldn't be too far behind.

  7. GRC's bench has really stepped up their play and this could prove to be the deciding factor in the outcome of the game. Tatum Lewis has been great coming off the bench for Jones...he is a sophomore. Robell Rogers and L.J. Green have really stepped it up for the cards too...so keying in on one player is not the answer in defeating GRC. Also Miller has been stong in covering the PG position coming off the bench.

That is a valid point because the Indians keyed on Knowles but still didn't get the win in the last game.

  8. FreakNasty how has Ryals done this year on the whole? I remember seeing a Montogemery County player play with some of the CovCath kids at the Blue Chip camp this summer and I just realized that this is him. He was a solid kid had no weakness from anywhere.

Along with Brett Kelley, Cameron is one of my favorite players to come out of Montgomery ever. He gets so many steals on defense, rebounds well for a shooting guard/small forward, and can flat out shoot the three. He usually guards the other teams best guard. Cameron is the only returning contributer from the last two years (one going to the region finals).

  9. I gotta go with my Indians. What's the point of going if I don't think my team can win over their biggest rival. Throw out the records when these teams play. I think Clark County matches up better than Montgomery agaisnt teams like Mason and Pendleton but as far as playing each other it will be close. The Indians did a great job on Knowles in the 2nd game. Getting Jones in foul trouble will be key. I'm sick of trying to establish Jordan Stevens inside presence when there is nothing there. He's not bad but it's asking a lot of a kid to go agaisnt Tristen Jones and consistenly score. I hope we establish Cameron Ryals as our first option and cut down on our TO's. FT shootinig was horrible agaisnt Bourbon except for Marlon Rash. Pg's Stahl and Nestor need to take care of the ball.

It should be close. I can't remember the last blowout when these two hooked up.

  10. Can anyone name another high school team that gets to host region every year on their own floor besides Mason County and Henry County?

Hey, why don't we have the SEC tournament at Rupp every year? It perfect to have the region at or near the most northern point. Using that logic that would be great.

Don't you think that 16th region fans would be mad if Ashland hosted every year? Of course they would. What if Henry Clay hosted the 11th?

Who cares about fairness when tradition is involved. Come on you all can do better than that.

And yeah Montgomery can handle the parking.

  11. This team is getting no respect around the state. What a joke. The winners of the 5th 3rd have argueably the state's top player in Slaughter. Not to mention a point guard runs the team well, two very good bigman especially the extremely talented Wade and some decent depth. This team is a legit top 5 team. They have only two losses and most of their wins have come by double digits.

Any thoughts on why no respect around the state.

  12. I have watched Dunaway for 4 years and and he is probably the most unselfish player I have seen. In the state tourney last year he scored 13 points in the 3rd quarter and got the ball twice in the 4th so it wasn't Dunaway not playing team ball. I was told Dunaway leads HC in assists and scoring so anybody thats says he is not a team player is wrong.

I don't like his off balance three pointers and forced 18 footers from the corner with people guarding him. Anyone know his three point % for the year? I would be shocked if over 30%.
