  1. Not in the eyes of who it matters most with and that is the kids on those championship teams.

This is HIGH SCHOOL athletics and it should be about what the kids think and not the adult fans.

The kids will think NO LESS of themselves for winning a state title in 6 classes. The front page stories in their local newspaper will be the same. The pep rallies will be the same. The parades afterwards will be the same. The patches for the jackets will be the same. ETC, ETC, ETC.

The only difference will be in some adult's mind that wants to believe that. But HS athletics is NOT about what goes on in that adult's mind.

Yes, I agree. It is bitter adults who have brought these changes.. I believe if it were up to the kids, things would stay the same. But, nontheless, change happens. Time will tell if this system is the answer to what the vast majority are looking for. What the kids want does not seem to be an issue.

  2. These teams have multiple championships. (3 or more) What "outside" teams do you see jumping up and knocking them off because there are now two more classes.

    CLASS A - Beechwood (10), Mayfield (7), Paris (3), Pikeville (3)

    CLASS 2A - Danville (10), Bardstown (4), Corbin (3), Ft Campbell (3), Ft Knox (3)

    CLASS 3A - Breathitt Co (3), Russellville (3)

    CLASS 4A - Boyle Co (5)

    CLASS 5A - Highlands (16), Covington Catholic (5)

    CLASS 6A - Trinity (16), St. Xavier (10), Male (5)

IMVHO...I believe the new system will make it even easier for the traditional powers to win because they have LESS competition. Beechwood & Mayfield don't have to worry about Danville anymore...Boyle and LexCath can ignore Highlands and CovCath and as you can see, there are many more examples. My vote...watered down.

I agree. Male's JV team could win their district

  3. How could BGP disrespect mighty ole Trinity by not ranking them preseason No. 1???? Just who do they think they are???? I mean really,, what is ment by that statement that most people on the outside looking in felt St. X had the better team over Trinity last year..... This just cant be possible...... We are Trinity....!!!

Ive heard enough of the above position, Trinity fans, get over it ..... Take your Championship and get on with it.... The rest of the football community does not need to rubber stamp your success in the title game last year..... We all saw the results of the September game.......

Sounds like you are the one who needs to get over it. September was a long time ago. I have forgotten about it. You might want to try letting December go. Life is too short. :thumb:

  4. I'll be the craziest zealot out there and say Manual over Brentwood Academy.

That would be a huge win for Manual. I saw Brentwood a few years ago. If they are still the same kind of team as when I saw them ( probably are) then their size will be an issue for you. They make KY teams look small. But I thought the same thing about Elder the last time we played them, and look what happened.

  5. I'm a UL fan, but honestly, how do they justify putting Brohm up there with Leinert (Heisman/National Title) and leaving off Quinn, who finished 3rd in the Heisman voting last year, is preseason favorite this year and has been predicted to be the #1 pick overall in next year's draft? If Brohm sticks around and is healthy for the next two years, I think you could list him with those guys, but I think after 1 1/2 seasons, it's a bit premature.

Maybe, maybe not. Look at his high school stats and what he has accomplished so far at U of L. Not too shabby.

  6. Lampley is the man who decides. I haven't heard anything about a bowl. I will have to ask my fellow alums who are close to the program if this idea has been pondered. I think it would be a great event. :thumb:

You can tell football season is getting closer. X has already been banned from the stadium

    Go Rocks !!

  7. How many other states have a 6 class system? How many people reside in these states and how many schools do they have? I do not have the answers but I bet they are interesting, if anybody has the time to dig it up. I agree with the contingent that believes that 6 classes are too many. These are not 5 year kids where everyone gets a trophy to make them feel good. Sounds like a bunch of "adults" who have to change the rules in order to create success for their kids. In my opinion, that is the wrong path.

There will be pros and cons for us. It will be good to rid ourselves of some weak teams from our schedule. But, it may also be hard to find teams to play. I am interested to see who, if any, will "play up".

  8. The only time they complain is when the "talk" happens regarding their feeder system which encompasses everywhere is talked about. Even if you made them take Louisville only that would help even it up. They get kids from Oldham, Frankfort, Henry, Spencer, Jeffersonville, New Albany, Clarksville, and who knows where else??? That is what would be the most fair thing that could happen to give the other L-ville schools a fair chance to beat an All-Star team that does work hard, etc etc. The do set a great example but all of your good programs are going 365 like they are and don't get to draw all over the state.

It really isn't fair that people have the right to live where they want AND send their children to any private school they choose. Maybe we should start reviewing some old Soviet guidelines.

  9. Thank you WestKY for you well-worded response :thumb: . Nonetheless, when you look at the criteria the Scribe has established for consideration of your vote, there is no catagory for "I wish I could've". Trigg Co. competes annually against schools within the 2A catagory and has nothing to show in the trophy case. Why are they losing against comparable oposition at crunch time?

P.S.: I really feel stupid taking up for the dreaded Landfill Gang...but what's right is right. I should go back to the thread on "S" teams.

Thanks for your support OX! I would just let it go. People will vote against T (and X) just because they don't like us. It's ok. I do not even know where Trigg Co. is.

  10. I must be suffering a brain infarction. I cannot remember a rock band at Trinity football games in the 1980's. Did they ever play at basketball games? DeSales has had a rock band perform for several years at basketball games, playing a lot of 60's and 70's hits. They have a relatively small gym, and when the band is rockin' the atmosphere is frenetic! I wish more schools had this type of setup. I wonder if Trinity would consider a reprisal of that tradition. They have had good teams with their current coach, and with a loud band their fans may blow the roof off the building.

Yes there was a rock band. The above posters are correct. Mr. Hardy had them cranking out Hendrix, Led Zep etc. I believe other schools complained because it was very loud. Electric guitars with amps in the stands, you gotta love it!! It was jammin'.

  11. If you wanted that information you should have asked instead of starting your post like this:

That implies that you think someone is being less then honest. Don't try to play the injured party when you in fact lobbed a veiled accusation in your first post in this thread.

I too, felt you were suggesting that Dr. Mullin was lying.
