  1. Obviously then you have never attended a St. X. game when they were the visiting team...although I will say the pebbles do qualify as #2 for crowd following within Kentucky. :D

However, as others have already noted above, when you include the out of state border teams, Cincinnati Elder is in a class all by themselves.

I have been to X "away" games. The rocks travel with as many or more fans than x.

  2. I was at the game, and have the tape. T played a marvelous game, and did everything needed to win. But to say Alexander was "ordinary" was just as foul as what I said. As you know, I have a pretty good friend from that T team, so I hear about how good they were quite often...

I was there also. For all of the hype before the game about Alexander, I was not impressed AT THAT GAME. It was the only time I saw him play. He is truly a superstar now.

  3. Why did the Rocks react so strongly to Clubberlangs posts? I believe it's because they know he is right. Trinity had a great game Friday night and won the Championship. The team deserves the accolades it has received. Congratulations, Shamrocks. But this hardly convinces me that St. X did not have the all-around better team in 2005. St. X played far from their best game last Friday. Everything that could go wrong for the Tigers did. Injuries are part of football, but Brent Curley's broken foot on the second or third play of the game interfered with the team's ability to establish a consistent passing or running attack during the game. There were questionable calls and spots that mostly went against the Tigers. If this year's St. X team and this year's Trinity team met ten times, St X would win 8-9 out of those meetings. Trinity was the best team on the night of December 2. But St. X is the best team in the state. The strong reaction of Trinity fans to Clubberlang's post is an effort to deny a truth that I suspect even they realize.

Anyone is entitled to an opinion. Why have the Rock fans reacted to Clubberlang's post? Because it is insulting (and not fair to the Trinity players who laid everything out Friday) to say: hey, we lost the game but are still better than you.

  4. I'm giving up on debating how to divvy up the state. Let's just make it 12 yards in 4 tries for a Louisville 4A school to get a first down & 8 yards for the rest of the state. Or have the Louisville 4A schools play up hill & the rest of the state plays downhill.

There would be a fight over how steep the hill should be.

  5. You may not realize the team (Bellevue, WA) that ended De La Salle's national record winning streak (somewhere over 100 consecutive wins) ran the wing-t. I'd say it must not be too easy to defend because De La Salle is very well coached and highly disciplined.

Clark beat us running it. When they were on offense, I never knew what player had the ball. ( neither did the Trinity defense) That was the only time I have seen it and hopefully it was the last. We were totally unprepared. No disrespect to the Rocks, it is not something you can mimic in practice.

  6. I don't know anything about HC other than what I have read on this board. If, indeed, their defense (especially pass) is that bad, HC will need about 60 points to win. Trinity's defense has taken a lot of heat on BGP, but I think they have improved vastly over the course of the season. I have forgotten about the St. X game. I believe the team has let it go too. Many of you here have not. Trinity has matured in many ways since that game. Any comparisons now are useless. I see many posts here predicting a HC win by 10 or more points. The poll is also in favor of HC. I guess I should expect a very good game. A home playoff game to go to state! We live for this sort of thing! All I can say to the HC faithful is you better bring it because we will be ready!!!

    GO ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!

  7. Many people view a private school education as a better education. And satistically they are probably right. Any education is only as good as you make it. Any kid can get just as good of an education from a public school as they can a private school. You get out of it what you want to get out of it. A private school education is no better.

You may be right, then again, you may be wrong. My freshman and sophomore classes at college ( core classes) were much easier than classes I took at Trinity. My sister went to public school. I was vastly more prepared for college curriculum than she was.

  8. Rich kids???? I started working ( delivering papers at 4:30 am) at 11 years old so I could pay my tuition at Trinity. My parents told me that they could not foot the bill, so I paid my own way. I don't want to hear any garbage that eveyone that goes to a private school is rich. :fight: :fight: :fight:

And while I am at it, maybe that is why the private schools are so successful. I went to Trinity for an excellent education, not to play sports. I wanted to become the best that I could be. I am not saying that the public schools do not have these kind of students, just that the private schools have more. Is it an advantage, you bet. Is it fair? Pick a side, and debate until the end of time. Can you put a pricetag on it? NO.

ps This is my last post on this tired subject that we visit EVERY year. I am done with it, forever. Have a nice day :p

  9. You all do realize that this argument will never be settled. Say what you will about the real parents of the private school but the PERCEPTION is that it is the rich kids vs. the poor kids. Right or wrong that is the perception. And that perception carries right on into adult life.

In New Orleans, supposedly it was a poverty/race issue that kept them from being evacuated. Hilary was on their saying to not give the tax breaks to the "rich" but roll them back and use the funds to help the "poor" in New Orleans.

It is an argument/debate/fight that will not be solved. It will just move to another area of our society.

Bert noted earlier that the Archdiocese did not support trinity and that since 1994, they have been a separate entity. I also thought this was the case until recently when I found out that $6,400,000 was contributed by Archbishop Kelly to trinity to finance their latest expansion plans and stadium renovation. The magnitude of this "non-alum" donation shocked me, especially in light of the fact that he did not assist Holy Rosary when their alums, students, and supporters had raised $800,000 of the $1,000,000 needed to keep the school open. Most of this money is the result of previous and current donations to the Archdiocesan Fund, which is collected from parisheners at all the Catholic Churches. I don't think that many of us knew when we made our contributions that this much money was being allocated to a football stadium and other academic and non-academic facilities at trinity high school. This doesn't seem right. :irked:

    $6,400,000? Really??

    I heard St. X got 20 million

  11. It really is sad ( and a little amusing) that the Jefferson County public school administration can be so childish.

Oh well, if they do not want to play us, that is fine with me. They will suffer the consequences. I believe Trinity could benefit more from a boycott than the way it is today.

Better competition, more press outside of the city, more money!!!

    Bring on the boycott!!!!!!!!!
