  1. You know, I think that 4 teams making the playoffs would be awful considering that there are 4 teams in most districts, but I'd be forced to advocate it because with a district like this:

    5 A

    Region 1

District 1:Bowling Green, Hopkinsville, Madisonville-North Hopkins, Warren Central

Central might not ever make the playoffs if they only took two from a district like that. What with BG beating them nearly every year and that we've only beaten Hoptown once ever.

  2. Hoptown will score, and they will score (GASP!) at least two times. However, I think Bowling Green's offense will come out a little better than they did against Tilghman (which is funny to say since BG scored 33 points). The real key to the game is that the offense doesn't need to be the cause of the defense's problems. That's what killed them against Madisonville last year as the offense fell to pieces and threw a couple of picks, which resulted in the TD's for Madville. The past two scores this season that were given up was because the offense put the defense in a bad spot, turning it over inside the 10 yard line. St. X & Central are really the only two teams that drove it on their first team defense, and they only scored three times between them. I think Hoptown will have at least one drive for TD, and BG's offense will turn it over at least once to result in another Hoptown TD, on the way to....

    Bowling Green 42

    Hoptown 14

  3. "Mean Bird" says Highlands had 9 opponents (all except Conner) make the playoffs. "72 Birdman" says 6. You Ft. Thomas boys need to get your stories straight! Which is the correct number?

They're both right. Mean Bird said that all Highlands opponents except Conner made the playoffs (i.e., 9 opponents). 72 Birdman answered the actual question of how many opponents are still in the playoffs, and that is 6 for Highlands. Mean Bird answered a different question, but both are correct.

  4. Henderson seemed to have more stature around the state than they did in western Kentucky.

Agreed, which is why I would say Marshall rather than Henderson here. I felt the same way as Scribe, that if Hendo didn't lose to Christian they would lose to Marshall, but for the record, I picked them to lose to Christian. The team was never the same without Rainey, and it was like a house of cards; you were just waiting for that one card to fall and take the whole house with it. The Owensboro game was treated like an aberration at the time; it now appears it was a sign of impending doom.

  5. John stands at 6-0. Please don't compare apples and oranges.

I think you agee winning is what matters.

I tell you what. Next year we'll go out and schedule Betsy Layne, Jenkins, Evangel Christian, Berea, Bracken County, etc. and beat up on all the losing teams, and you'd see how you'd feel if our team was in the top ten. It's not how many you win, but who you beat as well. I can't tell if you know this or not, but if you seriously believe that your wins are equal to the wins of some of those teams in the top ten, you're kidding yourself. And you're also kidding yourself if you don't believe that losing to a quality opponent can help you more than beating a patsy. I wish so very much that your team will make it far enough to play Manual, and you'll find out what a real team is like. Enjoy beating up on your weak opponents, and you'll see what happens when you play a St. X, a Male, a Manual, and perhaps even a PRP.

  6. I think JH is getting shorted in the 4A poll as well. They are #5 in Massey 4A, #8 in Litkenhous 4A, and if I remember correctly from looking at this morning's paper, are in the top 10 in the AP poll.

I think we can all agree that none of those polls get much love on here. Massey at least is a little better than the others. At least you didn't reference the Cantrall ratings. They're practically worthless.

  7. Alright then, go look at the BGP top 10 and tell me who should get dropped. I don't think it's as easy as you seem to think to crack the TOP 10. I would think JH is 11. I have been waiting for someone to stumble to see if they would make it in, but no one has, so who do you see JH taking the place of and why?

I think the only team right now that can be considered to be swapped is Madison Central. They've stayed within their comfort zone, playing no one outside their region thus far, and that's often considered to be a weak region. Lafayette is probably the only win they can hang their hat on right now, and they're 4-3. The other quality team they've faced, Dunbar, they lost to. To me Madison Central is an unknown, just like John Hardin. The real question is if Madison Central loses to Highlands by 10+, do they drop in favor of John Hardin?

  8. Manual has 3 loses hard to tell me that JH should not be ahead of them.

When your team has played three teams in the top 4 of the poll, you can talk. Actually, maybe I should say, when you've played them all within 10 points or less, you can talk. You wish to punish Manual for losing three games they led at some point in, two of them in the fourth quarter. No way. There is no one on John Hardin's schedule that even almost compares to those three. Does Manual have a quality win? No. Do they have quality losses? Yes, and you may not think so, but that does count for something.

  9. It's a shame, and I for one, hope nothing comes of this whole thing.

If the administrators of the private schools follow through with the type of thinking displayed here, I think it's too late for nothing to come of this. Those names on that proposition are dirty now. It's private against public, us against them no matter what now. I think passed or not, things are going to get ugly.

  10. I was rather saddened to see the name of my school (along with the two other Warren County schools) attached to proposal 20. Heck, we just won a state championship in basketball. I suppose we'd rather it just be the Division 1 title. Maybe it's a 15 year old grudge against Trinity football.

  11. This could end up being the worst eyesore since Pinner. If Highlands does win the game but the original ruling is in the end decided to be final, what is the true result? It's not the same as other situations where the team either lost in the championship (as Hoptown did) or were to win with an ineligible player. In the end, no team would have a legit claim to the title, with Highlands winning with all eligible players against Boyle, but using an ineligible player in other games. Effectively all teams would have lost or forfeited their last game.
