  1. You are right IronCat we does go back aways! and I am glad that you don't disagree with me very much. :D by the way I was a looken for you at the tailgate last friday, I quess you had a date or something..

If IronCat misses out on free food then there must have been something really really important for him to do. He never passes on food, especially when it's free. :D:D

  2. Congrats to Rockcastle on the win, and to Mason Co. on a great season. This sure sounded like it might have been the best game in the state. I look forward to another great Rockcastle-Ashland game at Putnam Stadium next weekend. It should be another great game between the Tomcats and Rockets.

  3. I agree. Johnson Central is definitely not just Ron Blume. Blake Johnson is a stud on both sides of the ball, and the Golden Eagles definitely have a lot of talent on the defenisve side of the ball. They completely shut down the Tomcats in the 2nd half of their ballgame. That's something you didn't see happen this year, with Russell maybe being the other exception.

  4. I like DB, but I think this is a sellout by the school.

Didn't they put their own coach on hold so they could have DB coach for 1 year with cameras rolling in exchange for new facilities? Wonder how the coach and the players felt about it?

That's a great question Watusi. How do you think something like this would have gone over if Belfry didn't have the funds they had to build their new stadium? Would there have been a few that would have wanted to ask Coach Haywood to do the same thing?

  5. "Even" in a scrimmage....hmmmm

Where have I heard this before? It's funny how when some other teams/people bring up results of a scrimmage, they're blasted with "It's just a scrimmage" But now all of a sudden it's being factored in the rankings.

    Did you read this post??

    Bluto,

    S. Oldham wasn't ranked then either, but they have been pretty dominant on the field in their 3 real games. As the season wears on, even early games will take less importance as later ones. Teams progress, get better, and their ranking reflects that.

Nobody is going to be ranked solely on a scrimmage, but in this case, a scrimmage was an important piece of information in trying to determine how close Colerain and Moeller might be. And that played a small part in our rankings when we decide between CovCath and HHS.

  6. Cal Ripkin is the age division of Babe Ruth League Baseball that mirrors Little League. The Cal Ripkin division is rapidly becoming the league of choice of youth league baseball across the country. Much of Kentucky has switched from Little League to Cal Ripkin, and I think might actually now be the more dominate organization in Kentucky. Fox Sports broadcasts their World Series, just as ESPN broadcasts the Little League World Series.A team from Lexington was the Cal Ripkin World Series Champion the same year that Valley Sports was the Little League World Champion. It would have been interesting to have seen those teams go at each other.....Hatfield vs. Alvey!!!!

The team that this kid plays on is a 11/12 year old division Cal Ripkin all star team that advanced to the Cal Ripkin World Series. From what I have heard, I think he has been gunned as high as 84 MPH.I talked to some friends that saw him pitch in the Cal Ripkin state tournament and according to them, he is everything that is being advertised. The kids last name is Gott.81 mph would not be too far to fathom, I think that Aaron Alvey was shown to hit 79 when he threw in his world series games.

I dont think that Willie Blair coaches this particular team.I dont know if his son is old enough yet. I think his son plays on a travel team that he coaches, but I could be wrong on that.

This post confuses me a little bit. When I played baseball the Babe Ruth league was for kids 13-15 years. Are you saying that the Cal Ripken League is taking over for Babe Ruth, or for Little League, which was for 9-12 year olds when I played?

  7. Does anybody remember "Scooterbob and Petie"...they made their BGP waves about 3 years ago. News spread like wild fire...A-train actually had a photo of the two D-I players while they were playing a pick up game. Darn shame what happened to them....they were the real deal. Tough. Wish I could see that pic again, anyone have it saved??

Here are the two All Americans.

  8. Not trying to be a homer, but Belfry's new stadium (field, bleachers, locker rooms, etc.) is second to none in the state of KY.

IMO, it is hands down the best field in EKY.

Only thing lacking is the two $20k a year press boxes that Trinity has, and the people willing to pay that much to watch a high school football game. :D

Can you post a picture of it?

  9. Not here...the locker rooms at Putnam are a joke. The really sad thing is that the home team's isn't any better than the visitors. Both are dank, nasty dungeonesque places that cry out for remodeling. Does HGTV have a locker room spruce up show...maybe Designing for the Jocks or Trading Locker Spaces...

I know that everyone will agree that the locker rooms are in dire need of remodeling, but it still shouldn't take away from the beauty of Putnam Stadium, and what a great place it is to play, and watch a football game. How much time is spent in the locker rooms each game? 10-15 minutes tops.
