  1. Harrison County takes a 14-7 lead with 6:56 left in the 3rd.
  2. The Rebels (2-1) hit the road to Verona this week for a clash with the Bearcats (1-1)...a rematch of last year’s nail-biter that saw WV escape with a 32-29 victory. Walton enters the matchup fresh off their first win of the season, a dramatic thriller over Ludlow. Boone County, meanwhile, looks to bounce back after suffering their first defeat of the year, a shutout loss to NewCath. The question now: can the Bearcats ride last week’s momentum on their home turf, or will the Rebels spoil the party and steal a road win?
  3. Crickets from the Coach Borchers can’t coach crowd tonight… Congrats to the Jags on the big time win!
  4. What a great win for the Bearcats! Could’ve very easily hung their heads and given up in the 2nd half after giving up 21 straight points, but they never gave up and got the road victory! Very happy for Coach Pence and his staff!
  5. Friday’s matchup has the makings of a close, hard-fought contest. The turnover battle will be critical, and whichever team takes care of the football is likely to come out on top. Adding intrigue is the homecoming of sorts for Coach Pence and several members of his staff to Ludlow, where they are graduates. That connection adds a fun element to what already figures to be a tightly contested game.
  6. WV was winning 35-3 after 3 varsity quarters. JV was playing the 4th.
  7. Bearcats welcome the Wildcats to Verona for one final preseason tune-up. Kickoff is set to take place at 7:30 PM.

  9. The scrimmage was a 10-10 format the whole game. WV went right down the field and scored a touchdown on their 7th play. WV then on defense had an interception and a fumble recovery in Daytons first 10. Dayton did score a touchdown on their 10th play, after fumbling the play before. Dayton didn't score the rest of the day. WV then scored again in their next 10 plays on offense. WV on their third set of 10 plays moved straight down the field again to inside the 15, before throwing a pick in their endzone. The JV teams played the rest of the day, with WV scoring a touchdown in that portion. Both teams came out of the scrimmage with no known injuries.
  10. It’s tough not to feel optimistic heading into Year 2 if you’re Coach Pence! With a full offseason under his belt and a program that’s now built its own identity and culture, the foundation is set. That continuity and buy-in can pay major dividends as the season kicks off.
