The Etown folks I know all talked like they really like Ross Brown. That's why I was taken aback by your "doesn't have the work ethic and motivation". It reads to me as someone who's just salty to see that their coach left.

I've worked with a lot of people who left a good situation at work for another job, and that's their right. I always figured, more than likely, there was some situation I didn't know about that made things look better elsewhere. And I don't feel like it's my right to go insulting a person for looking out for #1. But you, you just go ahead and do your thing, man.

I’ll do me. But I promise you ain’t talked to people from inside the program the last couple yrs. Players, parents of players, Asst coaches would tell you what I’m saying is the truth. Optics can be good when you’re winning but if not for a couple of assistants that program would have completely fallen apart. Players would tell you the same.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Coach Brown the younger 25-11 in 3 seasons as boss man at Etown? With one state runner up trophy, and two of three seasons ended by the state champions that year?

    Geeze, what a bum. 🙄

Take away yr one when he was gift wrapped a state championship team on a silver platter and he’s 13-10. Not exactly setting the world on fire. And truly the only coaching change that happened was his dad stepping down and him getting the HC spot. Dad even stuck around the first 2 yrs as an Asst. The rest of the coaching staff stayed the same.

I’m not even talking about wins/losses. I’m talking about the ability to be a leader of young men and set the example. Talk to people within the program the last 3 yrs and let me know what their opinion of him is/was.

  3. I’m hearing that the team was informed tonight that Alfredo Silva will be the interim HC this season. Coach Silva joined the staff last season after several seasons with Larue Co.

The team also found out that Coach Quinton Brown and Coach Tyrone Young resigned this evening.

Quinton Brown has been on staff the past 13-14 yrs and has been the DC the last 3 yrs. He’s an Etown Alum. Huge loss for the program.

Coach Young has been on staff 4 yrs and worked with the WRs and DBs.

I believe this leaves the team with 3 coaches.

Is the AD still Glenn Spalding? Who are assistants that would slide up to take the job?

Glenn left a couple yrs ago. He’s at Nelson Co.

At this point I think you almost have to hire from inside due to the timing of it all.

There are a couple of assistants that could probably take the spot but I would think the DC Quentin Brown would be first in line. He’s been an assistant in the program for 13 yrs and stuck through 3 HCs. He also graduated from Etown.

  5. Elizabethtown certainly didn't do itself any favors by staying in 3A. This is a gauntlet of a District and unfortunately Etown will likely be in a battle for 3rd place. The Panthers had one of their most experienced O Lines outside the 2020 group that went to a state championship and 4 out of the 5 starting linemen are all gone to graduation.

The bad news... On offense Etown loses OG Jackson Ford (3 yr starter), Both tackles in Logan Rockwell and Zach Presthus (2 yr starters) along with Center Gavan Young (2 yr starter) who was also a 3 yr starter at Long Snapper.

Also gone on the offensive side is QB Ryder Gregory (4 yr starter overall, 2 at QB), WR Evan Shelton (2 yr starter) and Jujuan Williams WR/Wing. Williams was a starter at NH before moving to Etown.

Backup OL/C and DT Brock Catlett who stared at 2 tech before getting injured halfway through the season is also lost to graduation.

Now the good news: Etown returns all of their backs. Trey Durbin who averaged 11.5 yds a carry, Tyrin Jurnett, (Just over 8 yds a carry) and Braydon Dean (just over 5 yds a carry). Along with Junior Connor Johnson who started to find a groove in limited carries towards the later part of the season.

Offensively the Panthers also get back Senior QB Greyson Hainer. Hainer won the starting spot in the pre season but his season was cut short in the first game of the season with a foot injury. Hainer is mostly unproven at the varsity level and the last 2 years have been riddled with injuries. If he can stay healthy he has a tremendous upside.

The lone returning starter on the OL is Jadyn Evans at OG.

Defensively the Panthers lose quite a bit as well. Young, Ford, Presthus and Rockwell were all either defensive starters or rotated in frequently. Nate Nett (ILB) was the leading tackler for Etown is also gone to graduation along with Jujuan Williams (S), Drew Carmon (OLB) and Makyah Green (OLB)

The Panthers return Camarious Caldwell(DE) who had 7 sacks, Carter Moberly(ILB) 2nd in tackles along with Dean, Jurnett and Jquan Williams in the secondary. Jquan was a starting corner before being injured around game 4.

So all in all the Panthers have a lot of holes to fill. The skills are there to compete but they will have to find some linemen and bring them along quickly to compete. They hung with CAL through 1 qtr in the playoffs and then CAL took over. Even with the skills back, the holes in the OL make me think beating them this season will be impossible. And Lou Central is Lou Central.

From what I have heard the schedule isn't going to provide any easy Ws. Along with CAL, Lou Central and Larue as district opponents they will also see 4A John Hardin, 6A Meade County, 3A Hart Co and 4A Bardstown with others to be added.

The Panthers will need to get rolling quick and hope to grab a couple early road game wins to build some confidence going into the tougher part of the schedule.

  6. I don't see a thread on here yet regarding Class of 2023 college commits so I thought I would start one. Would love to see where all these talented KY kids are going to play at the next level:

    Evan Shelton (WR-Elizabethtown) Morehead St.

Gavan Young (C/DT/LS-Elizabethtown) Campbellsville as a LS

Trey Prather (DT- St. X) Rhodes College

Micah Carter (DE- St. X) Louisville

    Tommy Ziesmer (DE-Boyle Co.) Kentucky

Brandon Hollis (DB-Larue Co.) Lindsey Wilson

Camrin Willians (WR-Larue Co.) Kentucky Wesleyan

WOW! I was checking stats for QB's and his numbers are great. Why isn't anyone talking about CAL's QB Cole Hodge? His numbers are fantastic. In fact his completion percent this year is going to be in the top 5 all time for a season in state history. Hodge has completed 74.6% of his passes, 2774 yards, 45 TD's and only 4 INT's. And he is only a junior.

I think there are plenty talking about him. He’s a 3 star and has interest from college programs all over the country.

  8. I think Bardstown has the horses to compete for part of this game. I continue to be impressed by TyTy. Without him Bardstown doesn't win the Mason Co. game. I think the problem for Bardstown will be 2 things...As I've been saying all year, CAL doesn't have linemen that go both ways. That is huge in HS football especially at the 3A level. Second, I'm concerned with what I saw out of Bardstown's secondary Friday night. They had a ton of PI calls. CALs passing game is pretty prolific and if Bardstown can't cover it could be a long night. I'll take CAL 45-20
