I have heard that there is a Trojan up 31W is eyeing this job.... would the Etown faithful welcome this alum home?

He will definitely apply. I’ll go on record as saying I wouldn’t be a fan of this hire. If I’m being honest, he’s just not a good coach.

He has had more D1 talent than any school in the area and more than most schools in the state and has failed for the most part to be successful. Terrible at Xs and Os and team discipline is a problem.

He won’t have that kind of talent at Etown so you better be able to build and coach.

Add that to the fact that his team had to forfeit wins and a district championship this season due to playing an ineligible player is more than enough for me to say NO.

  2. Per the district's employment page the Football Head Coaching Job is now open. This is expected as the hiring of Alfredo Silva in June was on an Interim basis. I would expect a decent crop of applicants including Coach Silva. Etown is coming off a 4-8 season with a 1st round playoff win over a 3 win Garrard Co. Things won't be easy for whoever takes this job as the talent level at Etown drops way off for the next couple of years.

They will be replacing most, if not all of their playmakers. QB Hainer, 5th yr Sr RB/WR/DE Trey Durbin, RB/DB Braydon Dean, TE/DE Alex Evans, RB/DB Tyrin Jurnett, OL/DL/LB Carter Moberly are all gone along with a few other linemen.

That combined with the fact that they will only have 3 home games next season certainly isn't a formula for success.

One bright spot is the return of Jquan Williams who is a dynamic playmaker but has had his Soph and JR seasons cut short due to injuries.

Etown could be looking at a 1-9 or 0-10 season the next couple of years. Their middle school program is on the rise again and had a strong season winning their conference championship and only having 1 loss on the season. But as we all know it will take at least a couple of years for those kids to have an impact at the varsity level.

It will interesting to see who all applies and ultimately who is the next HC of the Elizabethtown Panthers.

Just a quick glance at a few teams according to Max Preps (which is WAY off I’m sure). Cal has 56, Lex Cath 65, Hart 36 and Bell 42. 56 is greater than 36 for sure but no where near a 6A school. Real number is how many play both ways, the real mark of a non-6A power. I guarantee Cal’s number of 2 way players is the same as it’s competitors.

I promise you CAL doesn’t have the same number of kids playing both ways as most other 3A schools. Especially on the line where it truly matters.

CALs 56 is much different than almost all other schools their size. Which is why they were able to beat 5A & 6A schools like Owensboro and Manual.

Hart and Bell aren’t beating those teams this season. And that’s not a knock on either of those programs but a testament to how good CAL is.

Hart went up 13-6 after a touchdown early in the game and they went for two presumably to go up two scores. They failed and were left chasing that conversion the rest of the game. A fumble around the Bell County 10 also hurt them a lot. I was pulling for them to get to state. Still a great unprecedented season for the Raiders.

I was at the game and we were all saying the exact same thing. No reason to go for two that early in the game. Especially knowing that Bell always goes for 2. If Hart had kicked that extra point they would have had an opportunity to tie the game at end with a 2 pt conversion.

Hart was a little loose with the ball tonight. They put it on the ground 4-5 times and were fortunate to recover all of them except the last one which ended their drive in the Redzone.

Fantastic season for Hart. Thomas for Bell Co lived up to the billing. This game for all intent was for 2nd place. Neither of these teams can compete with CAL in my opinion.

@Big East Zebra I don’t believe any of the 3 teams in Hart’s district could hold a torch to Belfry or Rockcastle this year, however I do agree it should be a great game in ol Munfordville. Love the fact that both teams play the same brand of football and this is definitely the most favorable matchup for the Raiders of the other 3 team’s remaining in 3A.

One thing I’ve learned through the years is that mountain teams seem to think that no one else in KY plays as tough of football as they do. Mountains vs Everybody. Bell is good and Thomas is phenomenal. Hart is good and has a stable of backs.

I simply said I liked Harts SOS better and gave them the edge. The numbers back me up. Here’s to a great game in Munfordville Friday night.

I'll take the bait, this Belfry team is not one that we are accustomed to seeing. Belfry lost to a Single A power in Pikeville, while Hart beat a Single A power this year in Campbellsville. I think Glasgow and Franklin-Simpson and Union County, were just as good as Rockcastle County. Finally Bell's opponent's record is 77-72, while Hart's opponent's is 80-61. Bottom line, that's comparing Apple's to Orange's. One thing is for sure, this should be a great game in Munfordville, Friday Night!

I Echo everything you said. Belfry isn’t the Belfry of old. If we look at RPI, Hart has wins over 3A #5 Union, #6 FS, #8 Glasgow (twice) and 1A #2 Campbellsville and 2A #5 Green County.

In all honesty their SOS isn’t even comparable to Bell. With that being said I think it will be a great game with Hart having an edge at home.

Key for Union: Have referees that know what illegal formations consist of.

Cmon man, you gotta let it go. Game is over. No need to keep rehashing it on new Hart Co. Post. Was the screen shot you send an illegal formation if they were still aligned like that when the ball snapped? Yes...Could we look at film and find illegal things on just about every play? Yes...If the officials missed it, that sucks and they shouldn't have but it's over at this point. You are acting like that is the only reason Hart won. It isn't.
