North Hardin already has 7 penalties in the 1st qtr, 2 of which are personal fouls.

Anyone know if Boykins will be back this game?
-
Truly pitiful how little success NH has had given the talent they’ve had come through there the last 7-8 yrs.
Can only be contributed to the system and coaching.

And when they did let him run it, we couldn’t bring him down. It is a head-scratcher.
That’s the most frustrating part. He will reel off a 30 yd gain in a game and then won’t touch the ball again for 10-15 plays

We would use him right over here LOL.
It’s truly baffling. Kid averaged 11 yds per carry last season.

Ty Ty Williams scored all 5 Tiger TD’s, including a punt return, forced a fumble, tackles for loss, pass breakups, etc. Pound for pound one of the best high school players I’ve ever seen.
He definitely is. I wish Etown would use their stud RB but apparently we think we are the greatest show on turf and would rather go 4 or 5 out every play. Makes zero sense

Why is Etown so down?
Every starting O linemen is gone and many of them played both ways. They also lost their top tackler on defense.
They returned most of their skills but the offense they are running isn’t producing. Trey Durbin averaged 11 yds per carry last season. So far this year he’s averaging 6 rushes a game. They have tried to become some version of a spread team and it isn’t working.

This has been a marquee district matchup the last few years in 3A with Etown making it to the Class 3A state championship in 2020 and Bardstown making it in 2022. However, Bardstown made the jump to 4A this season and Etown elected to stay down in 3A.
This year's game sees Bardstown (1-3) coming off a loss to 45-24 loss to 4A #6 Ashland Blazer and Etown (0-4) coming off a 50-27 loss to 3A #8 Hart Co.
Neither of these teams seem to have found their identities this season as both had to replace a lot off of their 2022 squads. However, each team has a phenomenal RB with TyTy Williams at Bardstown and Trey Durbin at Etown.
They have a common opponent this season in Taylor Co. Bardstown lost 34-3 while Etown lost 42-13.
I've yet to see Bardstown in person so honestly this one is a little hard for me to call. I watched Hart Co. run al over Etown last week. If Bardstown can get a few stops defensively they could run away with this one. Unless Etown changes their offensive philosophy and starts giving Durbin more than 6 rushes a game I can't see them improving much.
My prediction, Bardstown 38-21

@BIG BLACK JACK When QB Zarionte Howard (JR) (who I thought ran that offense as well as one could) exited the game in the 2Q after the failed 2 pt conversion to go up 14-0 I knew the Dragons were in trouble, glad he came back in the 2H but you could tell he lost that step. Call me crazy but Warren Central looked like the better football team this evening, offensively the Raiders are in shambles and I wasn’t surprised that the speed bottled Parsley. One big thing I’ll point out from tonight is WR/CB Tray Price (SR) did not play and he’s been a huge piece of the Raiders football team the past couple of seasons, hope to see him back out there soon.
Warren Central was definitely the better team tonight but couldn’t get out of their own way. At least 2 of the fumbles were in the red zone and 1 was inside the 10.
Those and the muffed punt at the 1 cost them the game. If they hold into the football they easily win this game by 2-3 TDs. Defense played about as well as they could.

Leaves me scratching my head, every time he has touched the ball, he has done great things.
Yep. Had about a 30-40 yd run early in the game and then barely touched it after that

They’ve thrown him the ball on about 4 Go routes into double coverage, I don’t understand why they aren’t handing him the football.
No one outside that coaching staff understands it

Only touches Durbin can get are on the freaking kick returns

Start of the second half, Hart up 35-14
Did Etown score on the kickoff?

Every Coach on Etowns staff should have an evaluation on Monday and asked why a kid that averaged 11 yds a carry last season is barely touching the ball

Boykins might put up 300 tonight. Trojans roll in this one. 42-14

Elizabethtown will be 0-5 after 5 games into the 2023 season. Maybe it was a mistake not to find a permanent coach for the 2023 season to guide and begin to build this program back to relevance in 3A?
Probably right about the record but I wouldn't put Bardstown over them just yet. They are on the struggle bus as well. Their 1 win is over Thomas Nelson and they are about to get wrecked by Ashland tomorrow night.
As far as the coaching situation...When the existing HC doesn't notify the school system he is leaving until Mid June, finding a new HC from outside the program becomes pretty difficult at that point. Most quality coaches are already settled in and aren't going to leave their existing program at that point. My understanding is they only got a few applications and a couple of those were existing assistant coaches.
So they made the decision to go with someone on staff and make it an Interim title while making it known that the position would be opened up after this season regardless of how good or bad the season went.
Unfortunately, the next couple years may be worse than this one. Not a ton of talent coming through. The middle school has a good group of 7th and 8th graders but it will obviously be a couple years before any of those kids will make an impact.

2 Key notes about this post and this game. Etown lost every offensive lineman they had from last season and a couple of those played both ways. That is much more of an issue than the WR and QB. They have no time to get plays off. Most of Hart's team is made up of 5th year seniors as almost the entire class took advantage of the covid year.
I agree that this needs to be a statement game from Hart. If they don't dominate this game then they aren't as good as advertised.

Yes. When the position was filled in June it was tagged as Interim and publicly stated it would be re opened after the season.
-
Losing Elmore for the season is a big hit not only in the secondary but if something happens to Spurrier they will be in real trouble on the offensive side.
I’ll take Meade Co in the upset 35-28

I actually liked that call given how much time was left.
Which call?

Bryan Stations coach gift wrapped a win for BG by not kicking a FG with 2 mins left and then BGs coach said, Hold my beer! 1st down from the 12 with a min to go in a tie game….RUN THE BALL!!
Worst case scenario you run the clock down and attempt a 29 yd FG for the win. If you miss you’re tied and heading to OT.
-
How do you not kick the FG and take the points there. Terrible decision. Basically giving the game away.
