This is very true just didn’t want to say what.

I’m a Graves Alum, was completely embarrassed by the behavior of their football team the last year Apollo played down there. The culmination of which occurred when a Graves player looked at an Apollo player lying on the ground and stomped on his crotch.

I believe you snake.  But once a score gets to 70 I believe it deserves scrutiny.

Case-by-case basis. Two years ago, Mcracken and Apollo went to an 81-51 score. With the way the two offenses were firing on all cylinders, I don’t know if I would have stopped pouring it on when my team scored its 70th point.

Made too many mistakes. What an incredible game. However, all I will ever remember is Owensboro running to the locker room taunting and flipping the bird to our guys, and refusing to shake hands.

    Number 6 for O is a load.

The rain hurt us. Took away our passing game which has been a huge strength for us.

Obviously, I’m not going to condone taunting and flipping the bird if that happened, but as far as shaking hands….

Marshall County lined up tonight and Apollo didn’t shake hands. We haven’t had a post-game handshake in the Owensboro area since the start of the pandemic. Last year, I know, it was a KHSAA expectation that teams would NOT shake hands due to the pandemic. I’m not interested in a discussion about the possibilities of transmission shaking hands vs at the line of scrimmage. I just wanted to clarify that the non-handshake in and of itself might not be meant as disrespectful.

New officials get placed on the line, with coaches (dads) in their ears.  There is a learning curve for new officials to see everything and the mentors of the NKOA talk about the game slowing down as you get more experienced.  With every coach (dad) screaming in your ear about "little johnny" getting held, the attractiveness of officiating may be tough for some.  Perhaps the league should take a tough look at how it affects the retention and how many of its organizations are pushing people to try out officiating.

I've been that daddy coach, I spent several years sitting around the youth level leadership table, and I spent a year officiating.  KY football is going to reap what it sews if it doesn't assist with the push of capable people to the officiating ranks and doesn't control the coaches/fans.  When my schedule allows, I'm going to go back and officiate, what about you?

I umpired baseball at multiple levels for several years. I completely lost my love for the game until I got out of it. It’s been 15 years; and At this point in my life, I’d rather be poor than go through the ranks of working up the ladder from freshman/JV etc. I’d rather be homeless than earn a dollar working rec league. The higher up the ladder you get, the more tolerable the coaches. If I had a nickel for every coach daddy I heard spout off some mythical baseball nonsense like “tie goes to the runner,” I could have retired years ago.

The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was a coach daddy physically assaulting a friend of mine in the middle of the field. He had been in my face more than once, but I poop turds bigger than him. My buddy wasn’t so lucky and he got bulldogged to the ground in a headlock.

The ultimate karma: coach daddy’s kid never played beyond JV, and my buddy is a full time MLB umpire who has worked a couple of post season series.
