Normally I would be all over 81 points but not when the other team scores 60.
I came here looking for your traditional “81 is a lot of points, Coach.” Now I find out you’ve turned soft on it.

Is it correct now?
Yes, sir. I am technologically challenged and couldn’t find a way to edit the thread title after I did it.

Starks got hurt on the touchdown run. Didn’t look too serious from where I was sitting, but haven’t heard anything official on it.
Is Starks the son of Terrell Starks? Malik might have been his first name. I used to work with his mother. It’s been a LONG time.

It's a very bad time of year to retire, because it would be hard to acquire someone from outside the school system. When this type of thing happens I find myself wondering if the coach did it because he has an assistant he wants to get the job.
Despite the fact that I misspelled his name in the title, I knew Coach Birdsong in HS. I have always felt he was a pretty standup guy. I could definitely see that being one of his goals.

Reported in West Kentucky Star News last night.
Is it just me, or is this an odd time of year to retire as a basketball coach?

Apollo TD called back on a bogus hold.
This is shameful.
Combs runs out of bounds on the next play and again, a North Hardin player tackles him 15 yards after the ball was blown dead.
Combs launches one into the end zone on the ensuing play.
52-19 with 20.6 seconds in the 3rd

Creative spotting technique creates a turnover on downs for Apollo. NH ball with 2:31 in the 3rd

QB keeper with 2 North Hardin players making a hit on the Apollo QB while he was on the track. Officials find a way to prevent the first down.
One of the dirtiest plays I’ve seen in HS.

Best football we’ve played, especially under the circumstances.
still have several out with injury.
I think we will make a good showing in district play.

Combs to Velotta
flag on the 2-pt conversion followed by a parliamentary discussion while the officials try to figure out what the penalty is and it being waved off (no shocker as it appeared to originally be against North Hardin and we can’t have that). Attempt no good

i usually reserve my officiating critiques for when we play Henderson or Owensboro. I expect the officials to suck then. This crew is by far the worst I’ve seen since the last time we were in Hendo.

Still the first quarter.
So far the officials have missed a completed catch by Apollo for a would-be 3rd down conversion
And now a pass interference call on a pass I could have caught in the parking lot.
absolutely horrible

So we are ranking teams by scores? People need to watch the games before they rank them.
If I was publishing rankings, I’d leave SK off every week just to watch you lose your mind here. Whatever method is being used has to be better than my non-scientific approach of creating entertainment value over providing valuable information.

@wrn1979OHS/Apollo game:
27-12
27-18 (Close as it got)
1 play later 35-18
Then 41-18 at half.
That said, Apollo has a quick QB and some good WR’s and a good RB. They will score some points. If they come out against CH like they did against O, it will be a good game. I’ll take Apollo because Edge great coach and they got some playmakers.
Apollo 35-28
Fair enough on the score. I rarely can remember such things. I was discussing the game with our athletic director yesterday and regurgitated a number he gave.

Irish Cat. Please help me understand how giving up 62 points in your last game is playing well?
To be fair, no one thought we would ever be in the game. Late into the first half it was 20-18 with the difference in score being two blocked PAT's. Apollo had blocked one of OHS's PAT's as well. You hear it all the time "this game was closer than the final score would indicate." It's a true statement here. A couple of miscues early in the second half took the wind out of Apollo's sails and got the clock running. Was it a masterpiece? No. Was it better than week one against Ocath despite the score being more spread? Yes.
Edit: I haven't seen Central Hardin, but I would dare say that they wouldn't fare much better against OHS. I think OHS is better this year than they were with Wimsatt last year.

If Apollo plays as well as they did against OHS, I think they will win.
We certainly looked good in the first half. Need to put together 4 quarters of football.
I’ve been telling folks locally, these next two weeks would be a good yardstick for us going into our district.

Meade County at Apollo Predictions/Updates
in KY Football (High School)

Apollo has been missing 3-5 starters every game, most of which (I believe) play defense. Their offense looked more put together against North Hardin, and had several big plays called back on “phantom holds.” Apollo also had a would-be 3rd down conversion ruled incomplete that on video was a clear catch. I’m a big proponent of teaching kids to be mentally tough and to overcome, but when you’ve got a group of teenagers who have been taking a pounding week after week that’s tough to do.
Meade is 2-2 with their 2 wins coming against teams that are a combined 0-7. I’m an admitted homer but I’m feeling it this week. Apollo by 2 TD’s as Combs was getting rid of the ball and connecting with receivers when he wasn’t being tackled 10 yards out of bounds.
35-21 Apollo
