On 4th and 8 from Beechwood’s 48 Bowman hands it to Trumbow and he throws an INT to Shawn Sowder.
-
Bowman 2 runs for a first down.
-
Danville takes over at their own 34 yard line.
-
Fryman in Wildcat Formation and he runs it in for a TD. XP is good. 7-0 Tigers
-
Flaherty with 2 runs and Beechwood at the Danville 6
-
Beechwood pooch kicks it and recovers the kick.

SK defense will need to get stops tonight if they are going to move on. Doesn’t look good so far. Let’s go Neers

I am excited playoff football is here and I expect a big win by Beechwood tonight. I just hope this defense keeps improving and is ready for the 3rd round of the playoffs. The offense can score on anyone but they have to be able to get stops against the better teams. It’s time Beechwood step up and get ready to win another state title!!!!! The road to 18 begins now.

My heart wants Dixie to win as they are my alma mater but with as inconsistent as they have played the last several weeks I just don’t think they are playing well enough to beat WoFo. If Dixie could get something going in the passing game against good teams they will be a hard out this year with their D and running attack.

Lloyd’s D is good enough to limit Fleming County from scoring much in this game. Lloyd should be able to move the ball so I believe the score should be 42-14 Lloyd.

There are several teams at 0-10 who are going to play. Heck one of the teams in that position is the all-mighty Danville Admirals. Each team has different circumstances going on and I’m sure Pendelton County issue warrants them to cancel their playoff game while Danville will travel to Beechwood and put up the best fight they can to try and win a game. All teams deserve the right to make that decision for themselves. If they have qualified to make the playoffs under the current system structure then who are we to say they don’t deserve it. I really dislike this time of year because like mentioned before this is a topic every year and it is beaten to death.

1st round of the playoffs are here. Danville (0-10) travels 116 miles north to clash with Beechwood (9-1). Who wins this game and why? Can Danville slow down Beechwood’s high powered offense and get the upset? Beechwood’s journey for Title #4 in a row begins this week.

Curious how the tie was split between Owen & Bracken. Both - along with Walton-Verona - finished with 2-3 district records. Just confirming in a 3-way tie, RPI determines seeding..right?
Yes as long as there is no head to head scenario to divide it then RPI is the decision maker. So with RPI Bracken finishes 3rd, Owen finishes 4th, and Walton is eliminated from the playoffs.

We watched a little of the 1994 2a state title game after we beat Murray in the 1a title game. That team was loaded as well! Danville had some big boys who could run.
2003 Danville 1A State Champs were something to behold. The running tandem of Charles Penix and Kelvin Turner was unreal against Beechwood in the Championship game. Penix had 27 carries for 274 yards and 2 TD’s and Turner had 27 carries for 197 yards and 4 TD’s. They were dominate that Danville only attempted 2 passes and 1 was incomplete and the other was picked off. Total domination by Danville.

I know there is a sister district in the playoffs to start, but do the playoffs at the second round re-seed with that sister district based on RPI or is it RPI based in the first round and the next two rounds basically bracket play?
I believe it is based on RPI again in the fourth round.
RPI has nothing to do with the playoffs until round 3. The first round is seeded by the seeding within your District and your sister district and then round 2 is winners face each other no reseeding at all. For example District 5 and District 6 are sister districts. District 5 #1 seed Beechwood will face District 6 #4 seed Danville. The winner of that game will then face winner between District 6 #2 seed Breathitt County and the team from District 5 who ends up claiming the #3 seed which could be Owen/Walton/Bracken.

Did Dalton Tarter play tonight? If so, how did he do and the Bracken County team as a whole?
Tarter played and limped a bit but had a decent game. Bracken didn’t really play to win just limit Beechwood’s possessions. They maybe threw the ball 6-7 times and all but 1 was in the 4th quarter with a running clock against the JV defense. They had 1 long pass in the 2nd quarter but turned over on downs. Beechwood scored every possession except for an interception and the JV offense running out the clock. Brackens plan worked great but just running it 3 times and punting just doesn’t cut it against an offense like Beechwood.

Ryle has a really good kicker!
I agree!!! I thought when they kept kicking FG’s that SK’s offense was going to run away with the game.
