  1. Can you enlighten us on this? My buddy was very cryptic, but it sounds like a good thread in another forum maybe?
  2. I'm with you. This thread was for the 8th Region folks who know Carson Williams. Unfortunately, a bunch of 9th Region people started adding their venom to knock him. Hopefully Owen County can win the state and a lot of people will see the light.
  3. No one said he is THE NEXT LARRY BIRD. I saw both play in high school, which I assume you did not, and said Carson Williams has many of the attributes Larry displayed in HIGH SCHOOL. Like comparing Curtis Bostic to Mick Cronin. Wink-wink. My buddy said to add that last line and I do not get the joke. Do you?
  4. THE HIGH SCHOOL Larry Bird, not the NBA. Can you not understand?!?
  5. My buddy played at Alcorn State, his name is Larry Smith. They called him Mister Mean in the NBA for about 12 years. Larry had NO offers other than Alcorn State, and he is now an NBA exec. You do not need to play at UK to get into the NBA.
  6. Davidson is not among the giants of Division I, but I recall Steph almost leading them to the Final Four. The same Steph UNC, Duke, NC State passed on.
  7. Your opinion. Please, everyone on BGP, never compare any athlete in this state to any other high school players from past eras. It might hurt someone's feelings.
  8. Carson does not care about pressure. He seems to thrive in big-game situations. He will be fine in college and beyond.
  9. Why is NKU a graveyard? They just became Division I, and he wanted to play for the new head coach. Yes, UK and U of L missed out, but no more than Ole Miss and Miss. State missed out on Jerry Rice, UNC and Duke missed out on Steph Curry. College coaches are clueless at times in recruiting. They missed out with Carson, and let's see in five years.
  10. Jerry Rice played football at Mississippi Valley State in college, had no offers from Ole Miss, Miss. State, LSU, etc. I think Jerry proved he belonged at the top level, that recruiters miss out all the time. Jerry is just arguably the greatest WR in NFL history. Your logic about Chapman is completely off.
  11. A dark cloud always tries to block out the sunshine. Steph Curry didn't get any UNC/Duke/NC State offers? Does that mean he's not the best player now in the NBA? Your logic is milk and cookies, not meat and potatoes.
  12. You are correct. That is what this thread is about - high school. But I think some of the snarky comments are just from those who get a kick out of being confrontational. They bring nothing to any of these boards.
  13. You are correct. But urban legends never die. That whole story about "cut" is off the mark.
  14. Don't argue with this individual, he knows all and shook hands with a football player who had a cast on his leg yet played in the game.
  15. Good points. One of my buddies said he can give me some pointers on "who" to avoid in this chat room, that they only do it to amuse themselves and pick fights when they are unseen. HAHAHA.
  16. I think he made another big statement for Mr. Basketball tonight.
  17. That's interesting, since he had a cast on his leg until January. That comes from a former Newport player on that team who laughed when I asked him yesterday how William played. You might have shaken his hand, but you never saw him on the field playing.
  18. This whole thing was about two high school players in different eras, not an NBA Hall of Famer. Bird was very good in high school, so is Carson. Bird was a shy kid, but a tenacious player on the court. Williams is much like Bird in high school. That is all I said. But I respect your opinion without all the snakiness of some of the others on here. I did not realize how many of these people are just vicious and out to ridicule other's opinions, but now I have been alerted.
  19. I see this poster just likes to play and make fun. Too bad, Carson deserves better than keyboard musclemen like this.
  20. I take you know everything about everything? Then again, you told me William Slaughter played football in the playoffs against Conner and I confirmed that is not correct. So I understand you now at least. A contrarian without facts. Thank you.
  21. Springs Valley was off the map. Heck, French Lick, Ind., was until Larry Bird was on NBC in 1978!
