  1. As far as the whole academics is more important than athletics argument goes, if you're teaching your kids how important an education is then it doesn't matter what school they go to. Only schools with a bunch of accelerated learning programs are doing more than a majority of schools in KY. A college preparatory diploma from ____________ is the same as a college preparatory diploma from _____________. A 3.75 GPA at _________ is the same as a 3.75 GPA at ____________. IMO if your kid can play sports and wants to play sports and they stay at ____________ to get their head beat in like a drum every time they step on the court/field then that's cool. Enjoy your time getting mollywhopped every game. If your only focus for your kid is academics and not sports that is your choice. The reality for parents with kids who can excel at and play sports is nurturing that mindset and putting their kids in the best possible scenario to succeed. I have no reservations at all for anything I have done to allow my son to succeed in the classroom and on the court but there is no way in hell I'd let my son stay in an athletic environment that I feel would be a negative experience.

    Exactly

  2. I do appreciate this answer from you. It was just a hypothetical situation though... And it wasn't about sports till it was said " bring him down and let him check out the school and our athletics ". I am not arguing with you about the rules, just saying that most don't know them. ( parents) I could not tell you if any school is breaking the rules. In this thread I have never once tried to dispute that. Just trying to get all the rules and facts I can so I am better educated on this matter.

  3. Again...what would be wrong is that if that person is a coach, he is not allowed to say that...Private or Public. He can't talk to you about sports and what it can do for your kid. Period. You may not think there is anything wrong with it, but it's the rules. I'm sorry you don't like it. Every coach should know this or their AD is not doing their job.

I have kids and parents all the time ask if they can practice with us in the summer. The answer will always e no. Not until you are enrolled at HHS. I just had a kid come from St Therese two years ago as a freshman. She was coming to HHS. We were working out before school started her freshman year and she was not allowed to participate on our workouts til school started.

Again, the more I read this stuff, the more I realize it's a lack of understanding of the rules.

That's why I'm asking, so those of you who do know can fill the rest of us in. But if you can honestly say that you wouldn't bend a rule a little to help your child try and achieve a goal in life, I would have to call you a liar. I'm not talking about getting tuition paid or getting recruited along with others from the same school. Just a few simple words. Yes there are rules for good reasons. But sometimes the people who make the rules don't have the interest of the majority at heart.

  4. Oh, I don't know, I guess I would ask because it's the rules and the right thing to do. Heaven forbid those thoughts were used to make a decision, rules and ethics. Just talk to all the coaches, make sure you up sell your kid, and find the best deal. You should also see if you can make a package deal, you know for their friends, so they are ok socially at the new school.

I was asking legitimately. If you could, answer all the questions I asked.

  5. You may not like it, but it's the rules and there are reasons they are in place. Until they change, you need to follow the rules or face possible consequences. I don't like to only go 55mph in some places either. But if I speed, I run the risk of getting a ticket and the officer isn't gonna care if I like the rule. He's gonna give me a ticket.

Like one of the others said, do you need to workout or talk to a coach to decide if you like the sports at that school? Like he also said, do you go to math class with them 3 days a week to decide if they are up to speed in math. No, you talk to the administrators, just like you do for sports.

Let me ask all of you this. If your too 5 football players from the school you follow were invited to work out with Highlands in the summer and Highlands coaches had a chance to "sell" the program and those 5 ended up transferring from your school to HHS, would you feel like that would be okay?

Love how you did your best to not answer my questions? But to answer yours; no it would not be alright for 5 players from same school to get invited to another school for open gym or any other thing that could recruit them. But if joe Smith was talking to the principal and coach at school xyz on day at the gas station and telling them about how his kid was not doing well at the school he was in, and joe Smith was thinking about enrolling him in a private school, what would be wrong with them saying" bring him down after this school year is over and let him check out the school and see what our athletics are about"? I could see not doing it during the school year. And how Smith approached them, not the other way around.

  6. First, academically and athletically, I would ask a third party to see if she is reaching her potential. Most all parents think their child is better than what they really are.

You would only need permission to have them participate in athletic activities: such as open gyms, workouts, practices, scrimmages, etc. I sure hope your friend would leave the sports part out of the decision but I'm crazy, I place academics over athletics.

Do you think that permission will be given if asked? If that answer is always yes then why would you need to ask? If there is a possibility of a " no " when asked, then why would you ask at all? If you ask and get no as a response, then your child could face repercussions from the coaching staff or other faculty for even hinting that you are looking to go to another school. And I will bet that 99% of the kids that transfer from public to private are doing so for the education more than anything.

  7. I don't applaud the FBI. They let these armed traitors stay in a govt building more than 1 day.

Traitors? You call them traitors for standing up for someone who they thought was wronged? I don't know all the facts. Neither do you and I'm betting no one on here does. So to come to any conclusions is not even an educated guess as to what really took place from start to finish out there.

  8. It works by if you follow the rules you can get permission from the school where you're enrolled and go see. You can do a shadow day and watch academics and athletics if you want. Heck, I don't think kids are going in and doing three days a week in the classroom to see if they like it or attending the math camp to see how many times the teacher calls on them. Give me a break.

So if my friend and his wife decide that their child is miserable at Dixie, not excelling at sports or academics like they know she is capable of, and are thinking of taking her to Cov Cath after this school year is over, then they need permission from Dixie to go talk to anyone at Cov Cath?

  9. The majority of students at private schools in NKY come from their feeder parishes (except for Villa and Latin which do not have feeder schools). A majority of kids at say St. Henry come from St. Henry feeder parishes. Now some schools have a higher % and some a lower % of kids from their feeder parishes but I would guess that at least 51% come from their feeder parishes.

So where do the other 49% come from? And why would someone choose to send their child to a private school after being in a public school for so long before?

  10. So what would keep high school programs from going out to every middle school in NKy and recruit kids? You have to have rules. You can work with any kid in your district. You cannot work with any kid out of your district. (Without permission) If you could, schools would have a budget for a recruiting department!

How does that work for a private school? Most who attend do not live in that district, so when making that choice to go to a particular private school, you are not allowed to get a up close look at the athletics because they are not allowed to do anything with you during the summer months? I don't believe sports should be the sole reasoning for choosing a school, but it can be some part of it.

  11. I don't have to say a word and none of you would even have any idea how serious this is or have any details what's going on. I've probably said way too much already.

My point, if I hadn't said what I have, you wouldn't be sitting here reading the whole thing and begging for more details. I just don't feel comfortable saying all of it in public with the threats that have come.

Guess what? Most of us still don't have the details or know the seriousness of this. Truthfully I think this thread should have never been started until after the khsaa says they have reached a judgement. And you would have been better off not posting anything on here about the subject if your not willing to give up all the info you know. Just my opinion.

  12. I don't understand why some of you are basically saying that there are rule violations and investigations without just coming out and saying it! If you are not the one making the accusation then why not just say it? What rules or laws would you be breaking by just saying " holy Cross is being accused of------------ and is being investigated by the khsaa and the following schools are involved in one way or another: ---------------. What would you have to lose if what you are saying is true? IMO if your not willing to say something and back it up, then you shouldn't say anything at all. If you are a part of what is going on then you def should have never said anything at all. Sounds like the little girl at school who says " I know something you don't know" but never says another word! So in other words what was the point of this thread?

  13. I think we have! Many are saying there is "nothing to see here" and "nothing is going on". We have told you, there is something going on by A LOT of schools on the girls and boys side. There Guru, just the facts!

Maybe there is something going on at a lot of schools.... But this thread was directed at one in particular. Just wanted to know the exact allegations and who it concerned being some of you seem to know this. And if your not willing to share that info then why the thread to begin with?

  14. I don't see how anyone can start this thread or support it with out offering some proof. And what I read when I paid my money and joined this site says that this thread should have never been started period. But ok it's here. And in a court of law you have the right to know your accuser.... So if this should ever go that far I hope those that are not afraid to accuse are not afraid of revealing themselves because you will have no choice. And false accusations can be dealt with in a court of law....

  15. That's one of the problems with this country.... To many people worried about being politically correct! Do I agree with some of trumps statements? No. But I don't agree with everything the others say as well. At least he has balls. Something Obama and most of this country don't have.
