  1. Salter has been out due to injury, so hasn't played. Legends are a tough team.
  2. Newport 7th won their championship game, beating Beechwood by 14. Great game and Beechwood actually had lead end of 3rd until C. Jefferson took over. Congrats Newport.
  3. Last season Newport 7th beat Highlands by 3 in regular season then lost to them by 1 in district final. This year they beat Beechwood by at least 15 both games with starters out at 4th aquarter.
  4. Would have liked to see how Newport 7th matched up to top 3 teams in big school league. I'm certain they will win small school.
  5. That is what I thought, kid went to the line shot 2 freethrows for the foul, then another came and shot 6 free throws.
  6. They legends have probably the best 13u AAU team around if not in state. They have everything you need in a great team, dribblers, defenders, big men, if you notice everything was plural. come check them out!!
  7. Yes, was a very good game among the kids. The referee's and beechwood coach (who got 3 technicals and thrown out) wasn't the best.
  8. Watched the small school division match up between Beechwood and Newport last night. The 6th grade tigers won convincingly and yes versus some of the 7th grade wildcats, but we are talking about a good legitimate, could compete with any "Big" school division team, a very well rounded team(Beechwood). The 7th grade wildcats won the game though the score did not dictate the game, tigers got down big early and could never really get out the hole, but it was a good show from both teams and Coaches, Newport 7th stays undefeated. The 8th grade wildcats also won by a good margin and the game got somewhat a little heated at times, yet overall it was a good games to watch.
  9. I for one would like to see that, I think that it is two or three small school division teams that could beat any big school division team on any night. 6th thru 8th (respective grade)
  10. Not quite sure on the game, but I got an opportunity to watch Conner's 7th grader Jared Hicks over the weekend and that kid is a VERY good basketball player. Fun to watch, great handles, even better jump shot and very aggressive when ball is in his hands. I was truly impressed.
  11. Basketball in NKY is as good as anywhere in the state. When you look past parents that force their kids to play or hold back to dominate or even sit just to win. When you look past coaches that play this kid because he knows that parent or their siblings were good. I know there is a lot of that around here but when you do, there are a couple of these kids that have good futures ahead of them, maybe not the nba but definitely beyond the 9th region. Also a lot of these kids are good students with great grades. At the end of the day AAU or school ball it makes no difference, the kid with the most drive and understanding will be the dominant one. Remeber ol' timers the game is 10% physical 90% mental. IT is all about what and how we teach them. PLAY HARD and HAVE FUN
  12. Who is the next big thing in the middle school, some of these middle school kids have a high IQ for the game? Some of these kids you can see are getting the proper training!
  13. Does the small school division champion at the end of the year get a shot at state?
  14. are you sure, I have heard talks of all schools in the regional tourney??
  15. He is also an outstanding football player, along with being an all around gook kid!
  16. Newport middle looks good aside from being in small school division. Are they undefeated??
  17. Good point, but dont really get the reasoning behind it, now it enables big schools to monopolize the talent in the Nky area, wich leaves the small school division players looking for a little more than district, a little more than region a very small choice either "roll with us or get rolled on" Stay small school, hope that the talent stay, hope that small school division coaches is preparing for the bigger picture not just the here and now win, or if fortunate enough change schools to go join or follow the "wolf pack" unsuccessfully sometimes just to get a little exposure or just your piece of the Nky bball pie! It would be great if all schools played all. Some of these small division schools are better than the bigger but switch come high school to get exposure. Come on Nky we have more players than we produce we should have more state titles in this area, Thanks to those schools who have brought it back to the Nky!
  18. What is with the big division school separate from the small division school? They will all be playing against each other in high school! What competition is that teaching the small division schools when they play each other all year and middle school years then have to go against big schools come high school? NO PREPARATION=NO SUCCESS
  19. will the small division schools get to play against big division schools come tourney time?
