  1. I think this event is scheduled to late! Yes some players have early June move-in, but isn’t this the case for 90% of both rosters. Indiana has 100% of roster committed D1 and those selected for KY roster are 70-75% committed D1, the others have next level opportunities or still looking.

I can confirm that the selection process was so late that It left some committed to next level to decline the opportunity!

It’s unfortunate, because there are a several NKY players who showed they are very deserving not just throughout the year but this weekend against the Ohio All Stars!

There is no perfect formula on who to invite but I wish Kentucky had a way to get the best to play!  Indiana has figured It out on paper!

Good Luck to those selected and make KY proud!

  2. Excited to watch the sisters from Central. Lola #1 2026 in Indiana and her sister highly ranked in 2025 class! Both played  for U17 EYBL GYM Rats, which incidentally had a story telling summer. Not a positive story by the way! It will be interesting to see how two of Kys finest play against #2 Central! I like the chances of GRC and Ryle! Good luck to the KY schools!

Let me guess…Conner and Hamilton need to be higher?

Go ahead and post your rankings! Love to see how bad mine were compared to the real answers.

It’s obvious you don’t know me very well or at all, I have ZERO bias whether I have a kid on a team or not! Yes I’m a Conner fan but I’m more critical on my own than I am anyone else. Since you singled out Conner and Hamilton then I will comment on that.

In regards to Conner! They have huge voids to fill and will need several to step up to have an successful season! Anything inside top 10 would be surprise!

in regards to Hamilton, I think @doubleduece has preseason right!

My top 5 teams for 9th.

    Cooper

Ryle- I don’t think gap is that far between 1&2

Holy Cross- I think have the pieces to beat anyone any given day!

Highlands- just like this young team

Notre Dame- everyone gained a ton of experience last year!

We have reached the final week of the regular season, and what a regular season it has been!  The top of the 9th Region is absolutely loaded, and there are a couple of teams in the 8th and the 10th that have some opportunities to make a little noise in their regional tournaments as well.  Has been a blast covering all of these teams this year, and especially all of the impressive young ladies that work so hard to represent themselves, their schools, and their families the right way -- kudos to all of you!!!  Also, tip of the hat to the terrific group of Girls' Basketball Coaches we have in this area.  The 9th's girls' coaches are as impressive, top to bottom, as I can remember.  The 8th and 10th region coaches in NKY underwent some turnover and the first year coaches are all doing an outstanding job.  The future is bright for the programs, leaders, and young ladies in NKY Girls' Basketball!!  Now, onto the final regular season Top 10 of the 2022-23 season:

    1.  Cooper (23-3) -- Went 3-0 last week!!

    2.  Holy Cross (23-5) -- Went 1-0 last week, and face KY Top 5 Louisville Mercy tonight at The Finn, should be a great one!!

    3.  Ryle (20-7) -- Went 2-0 last week, an impressive road trip down to Laurel County, with impressive wins over North and South Laurel.  Not easy.

    4.  Conner (16-7) -- Went 1-1 last week, beat #5 Dixie on the road rather easily than dropped a home game vs CAL by a fairly wide margin.

    5.  Dixie (21-7) -- Went 1-1 last week, losing at home to #4 Conner by 19.

    6.  Highlands (19-8) -- Went 2-0 last week, should easily win the 36th, and will look to make noise at NKU with a young and improving team.

    7.  Notre Dame (16-8) -- Went 3-0 last week, should make the 35th District Finals very interesting vs HC, and then will be onto the 9th at NKU.

    8.  Bishop Brossart (19-10) -- Went 1-2 last week, with losses vs #6 Highlands and at #2 Holy Cross.

    9.  Pendleton County (19-6) -- Went 3-0 last week; Coach Kelsch has done yeoman's work with the Lady Cats in his first year.

    10. NewCath (15-9) -- Went 0-1 last week, losing at home to #1 Cooper.  Will have their hands full as 36th Runner-up (I assume) at NKU, regardless of draw.

    ===========================================================

    *  St. Henry (15-11) -- Went 2-2 last week, with losses vs #1 Cooper and vs #7 Notre Dame.  Should make first trip back to the 9th Region Tourney in several years.

    *  Grant County (16-10) -- Went 1-1 last week, with a home loss to 8th Region power Anderson County.

    *  Simon Kenton (15-11) -- Went 2-0 last week.  Get to host #2 Holy Cross on Wednesday night, should be a good one.

    *  Scott (13-12) -- Went 1-2 last week, with losses at #8 Bishop Brossart and at Nicholas County.

Good luck to everyone this week, finish out the regular season well (and healthy), and then enjoy the second season -- several of our area teams certainly have designs on playing for a while in the post-season.

Terrific job as always @The Double Deuce

Looking forward to your updates, thank you.  I'm very interested in this matchup; definitely one of the best games tonight.

In general to all - for those who aren't local, are any broadcasts/livestreams available (with a link if possible)?

Conner Media YouTube streams all games and I understand @tscaggswftm on twitter will be covering audio on 95.9 WTFM FM OR FREE WFTM Radio APP

I suspect they wont.  Tournaments can be tough on guard only teams.

I don’t believe @Cov_Cath_Hwywas referring to rest of season perhaps referring to winning out regular season!

Conners has been healthy last 6-7 games and playing great team basketball however they took a blow last night with 6th man and  3 point specialist going down with shoulder injury early in first quarter!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Conner won out regular season and I wouldn’t be surprised if they stubbed toe along the way as the schedule remains strong!

If Conner can stay healthy they will without doubt be a factor in 9th!

  7. Unofficial:

Holy Cross: Jake Meyer 28, Javier Ward 11

Conner: Ayden Lohr 23, Dalton Kramer 22, Landen Hamilton 20

Conners ability to find the open man and creating for others was the difference.

Good luck to both teams moving forward, I would not be surprised if they see each other again for the third year in a row in the Regional tournament!

  8. I think this year the 9th region backcourts collectively are as strong as I can remember in last 10 years.

Cov Cath, Highlands, Holy Cross, Conner, Lloyd, Newport, NCC all extremely guard heavy and very talented!

I believe this is what makes the 9th so compelling! With the unfortunate injury to Caleb Brooks there are really no dominant bigs left in the 9th!

The 9th region will likely come down to who has the best back court play at the end of season and what teams complementary parts step up!

Should be some exciting battles on the way to the 9th region tournament!

  9. I was able to watch most of this game.

Cooper started the game on a nice run and kept the lead for the majority of the first 2 1/2 quarters.  It looked to me that both Kay and Logan started and played significant minutes.  Cooper got into foul trouble late in the game with two starters ultimately fouling out.  This contributed to the score differential.

Prayers to Dee Alexander and her family are needed!  Dee went down mid 3rd on what appeared to be a significant injury, game was stopped for several minutes, and ambulance was called to take her to ER. I couldn't tell what the injury was but it appeared to be to the head, possibly banging it on the floor.  I hope she bounces back quickly!

  10. Everything tells me Cov Cath by 20 plus, however I just don't see that happening tonight.

I believe the difference this year from last year will be who in the secondary defense will contend with Meyer.  I think the overall outcome will be if Holy Cross can show up defensively, history would indicate no!

Cov Cath 82 - Holy Cross 72- Unlike last year when this game was over from tip I expect this to be a battle.
