  1. Only one team from Northern Kentucky, which has region 9, one of the top regions in state. Seems like they are underrepresented.
  2. Game was pretty even. Both teams had a couple good runs in course of play. If I had to guess Ryle had the better time of possession, and seemed to control tempo a little better. But with that said St. henry had several really good chances. Rumor in stands was Ryle was missing three starters, does anyone know if that is true?
  3. Chris Froscahuer, former Ryle High School goalie just signed a contract this week to play for the Colorado Rapids, and looks to be the back up keeper to start the season. Great job making it to the MLS, a great accomplish for a soccer player from northern Kentucky.
  4. Many times it comes down to the position the player is being voted at. The forward position is always the hardest position to make make because they only have 2 first team, 2 second team, and two 3 team....................with a total of 22 teams in the region, and thus 44 forward options to chose from.
  5. The girls association is completely separate from the boys. Each association does its own thing, and has its own rules. The rule was followed, but an exception was made for one team, that didn't have enough players to play yet that early in the year.
  6. As far as I know, there is no limit to how many players a coach can get nominated. The only restrictions are the team's coach must be a member of the association, participate in Soccerama, and they are unable to vote for there own players.
  7. No Limit, a coach can submit as many names as they choose.
  8. Khsaa makes money from state tournament games, advertising, and contracts with vendors
  9. If I was a betting man I would take trinity or henry clay. Seen both teams play, not sure how anyone beats trinity, and henry clay has more players with the combination of skill and speed than any team I have seen this year
  10. Heard this weekend that OPOY- went to Day of Cov Cath DPOY- went to Roe of Ryle COY- went Robertson of Cov Cath I totally agree with first two, although I myself would have selected Snow. I think COY is way off base, when you have the talent Cov Cath has anybody could coach that team and get 15 wins. Who could coach a team with the OPOY, and from what I heard 6 players make all region team, 4 of which we first team all region. Feel there are way more deserving coaches who won with way less talent.
  11. Just spoke to a coach today. All region team was announced last night through email by coaches association president. My guess is after teams tell their players today we will hear the results. This coach told me his players were finding out tonight who on his team made all region.
  12. I was told by a coach that all state nominations are due Friday October 23.
  13. It appears Maher may have under estimated the 9 th region teams, and overall strength.
  14. I have been told by coaches the regional voting takes place the week of districts. Ballots are due that Thursday or Friday. The voting si done that way to place more emphasis on the entire season, and give equal chance to all teams and players within the region. Just like you stated Snow could have one the award last night, it is equally possible that someone wins an award for one game with a poor season if you let voting go throughout the entire play-offs. I think many people are looking at this wrong. Remember the awards are for the kids. If more kids get recognized is that really bad?? Whether you agree with the system or not, we need to understand there is no right or wrong way to go about rewarding kids who work hard during a long season. This process has been in place for many years (my guess 15 to 20), so the coaches must be happy with the process, and they must seem to agree it is fair enough to reward the players. No matter when you vote or how you vote, just keep in mind the kids need to be the winners, and you will never have complete agreement on how the process should be completed, and whether you have the correct winners. The state level voting does usually encompass the post season, but if I'm told correctly they do place a heavy importance on the regular season games also. There is something to be said for being able to consistently perform over an entire season, verse just showing up for a limited # of post season games (and lets be honest, not ever good player gets the opportunity to play on a loaded team like Covington Catholic is this year). I would rather see the system the coaches are using than see no players being recognized.
  15. I'm pretty sure the coaches voted for awards this past weekend. The awards should be released anytime now as a coaches committee met over the weekend.
  16. Coaches have no say, meeting is set by AD of host school.
  17. I heard through an official, the red card was rescinded and changed to a yellow card. Anyone else hear the same thing?
  18. State red cards are public record, it appears Scott has 23 red cards in the last three Soccer seasons. That is an astronomical amount. If you look at other northern Kentucky schools you see an average of 2 red cards in the same time period.
  19. Anyone can host districts, field size only comes into play starting at regionals
  20. I think when discussing OPOY and DPOY, you need to look past numbers and look at team impact. Would that team win the same number of games if that players wasn't playing on the team. That's why I think OPOY should go to either, snow, wend, or Morgan. If you taken any of them aware from their team, they would have significantly more loses. I think the same applies defensively when talking about CoV Cath. If you take out one, either darpel or thaeman, but leave the other three does it change their season. In my eyes the answer is no, they will win almost the same number of games. But if you take out roe or guesenhues, both of those teams would have more significant loses with the schedules they play
  21. Was down at the JV regional final, heard several people talking. The Ryle player taken down by the SCott goalie was injured, and never returned to the game. And no card was given the the Scott goalie, just a warning and a pk.
  22. From people I have talked to over the past few years, NKU and Thomas More don't want the games because it interferes with there soccer teams, and unlike the basketball tournament their is no money to be made off hosting the soccer tournament so they are unwilling to adjust their soccer programs schedule You complain about Ryle, Highlands, and Dixie always getting to host, but if you read the KHSAA policy and requirements on host schools they are 3 of the 4 schools who can host. All the other schools are unable to host due to various reason. St Henry is eligible to host, but is only in the rotation for girls regions. My best guess is do to the smaller seating capacity. From a coach I know in Lexington, the Khsaa will be adding to the requirements for hosting including making the field requirements wider, which may even limited the pool of candidates to host smaller. Right now Ryle field is the closest we have in Northen Kentucky to some of the Lexington fields. they are smaller in width to Dunbar, but almost equal in size to Henry Clay and Lafayette I do believe that home field is also overrated at the high school level. I believe once you to get final 8 of higher yes should be played on neutral field, but up to the round home field doesn't necessarily change anything. In a perfect world go with neutral, but as we know this isn't an area of concern for khsaa
  23. Rumor has it that District 33 is going to be Tuesday (girls), Wednesday (boys) and Thursday (championship games)
