FS really misses Blake McPherson. He was their leading rusher and had the most interceptions on defense. The FS running game still played very well last night but they really missed McPherson most on defense. FS only stopped the Cougars twice. FS was minus 3 in turnover margin. Hard to beat anybody like that. I think Logan County can hang with anybody offensively but they had a hard time stopping the FS offense, especially considering how one dimensional it is. It got out of hand once FS started trying to pass, and they just have no passing game to speak of. If Logan County can win their first two playoff games, they will probably match up with Tilghman again, but they are close enough in the RPI that the Cougars could possibly get that game at home. I think they could potentially be a final four team, but that’s probably the limit. I like to see teams have success that have traditionally struggled, and Logan County has really built a good program lately. FS should handle ACS next week but I expect them to lose at Glasgow after that. FS will be third place and go on to road to Elizabethtown, John Hardin or Taylor County. If FS wins that game, and that is a big if, the reward will be a return trip to Paducah where the season most surely will end.

FS turns it over on downs and LC gets another long TD run for a 63-27 lead and their first ever running clock win over FS. Total collapse in the fourth quarter by FS after they drew within 8 at the end of the third. Final score Logan County wins 63-27.

Cougars strip the ball from the FS runner and take it all the way for a TD. LC 56-27 with 6:35 to go.

Helle immediately goes 42 yards up the middle for LC to put it away. LC leads 49-27 with 7:21 to go.

End third quarter Logan County leads 35-27. They have it 1st and 10 at the FS 44. FS dominated the third quarter but had a big hole to dig out of.

Williams 4 yard TD run for FS. Cougars lead is now 35-27 with 26 seconds left in the third.

FS with a much needed three and out on defense. After the Cougar punt FS takes over on their own 25.

Wildcats run out of time at about the Cougar 40. Halftime Logan County leads 35-13. Both defenses struggling. Score differential can be traced to 3 plays. One sided penalty call when there probably should have been offsetting penalties on FS first drive which resulted in 2nd and 33 and had to punt. FS would have been 1st and goal at the 3 otherwise. Fumbled kick return by FS which just went through the returner’s hands. Inexplicably bad play call for FS on its next to last drive which resulted in an easy interception for the Cougars. Logan County is the better team, I have no doubt. But without the FS mistakes it would be much closer if not tied. FS gets the ball to start the second half.

The referee took an official timeout and made both teams take a knee on their sideline and gave them a lecture. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. FS intercepted a long pass on the next play.

FS driving the ball again before halftime and makes a ridiculous play call with a halfback option pass that got nowhere near the receiver and was intercepted. Chaos on the sideline started by Logan County but this time there were offsetting penalties unlike the first scuffle.
