  1. Reasoning? I saw that. Very much enjoyed watching her teams.
  2. I've been watching this one with interest since catching them in the All A last year. Seems to be a good opportunity for someone.
  3. Over time it does, but the cost of college is outrageous anymore. I don't understand anyone that wants to go past the Rank II other than having a larger payment towards retirement. Back to the discussion. Are there any teaching positions open in Western Kentucky that might have a coaching position with it?
  4. Went and saw them twice...Once in Robertson County for the All A, and once during the District Tournament. They could be a sleeper if they are running on all cylinders!
  5. Not sure of her certification but I don't know of many P.E. teachers who are certified in another area other than Health. Now I do agree with you that if she did nothing wrong as a coach, she shouldn't have been let go in that position. However, unless she is getting paid a large sum to just coach; she can't survive on that stipend alone.
  6. Could it be related to school budget or to her teaching ability? Not saying those were factors, just playing the card. With the way budgets have been most schools have been cutting fat. Maybe they didn't need an extra P.E. teacher. Not saying that to be the case, but it could've been that. Hard to let someone go when they went to a Final Four.
  7. Yes, and I've had that happen where they've gotten burned-out on coaching or teaching or both. It is hard to juggle both positions. Early in my career I tried my hand at coaching as many things as I could. Eventually, it came down to which was my primary job and I ended up getting out. However, I always told my coaches that you aren't going to get a raise for winning a big game or because you are entering your 10th season at the school; you are doing it because you love the kids and the game.
  8. That is very true. I had the same issue when it came to hiring coaches early in my career. I really don't blame them a lot when it comes to having the "easier job" in a lot of cases because of them being at school for longer amounts of time than another teacher. However, my priority was getting a good teacher as well as a good coach and in a lot of cases we didn't have money to create another position or have someone who could be moved.
  9. It seems to me that I have hit a nerve. I was just asking considering the recent funding cuts in public school education that have stemmed from the 2008 Recession. Most schools can't afford to keep teachers, let alone hire additional staff. But if they have the money to hire more people, then more power to them.
  10. That would be interesting to know since, according to other posters, that he doesn't have a teaching degree.
  11. Ah the domino effect...what I miss about hiring and firing people.
  12. I guess the new thing is to have press conferences when introducing the coaches. Does anyone know for certain who it could be? This could kick of more openings in the 10th region.
  13. Mike Reitz is the Larry Brown of the 10th Region! Loved watching his teams at the state back in the 90s. Was surprised he retired from coaching.
  14. Does he teach chemistry? I always thought he taught Earth Science, but they could be considered the same thing depending on what specifically they were looking for.
  15. Could've swore Feldhaus taught science. Is there an opening that Feldhaus can get?
  16. In my experiences, schools like to have people who are teachers, or work in their system. I don't think Paris' coach is a teacher if memory serves me correct. I think it depends on what the school system wants.
  17. It would be dumb if they didn't. He has a nice resume and has been to the state tournament. I would if I were them.
  18. Wasn't this just open last year? Do they have any assistants in that could just move up?
