  1. Let me qualify my following reply with this. Camels had a nice year and won the 10th region tourney. They represented themselves and the Camel community as you would hope your boys would. They did everything they were capable of doing and , in the end, that's all you can really ask so hats off to them.

With that said, they simply are at a lower level than many teams in the 9th this year. Yesterday was not a surprise to me. There's nothing on the resume this year for the Camels to have one think that they were a legit threat to the Colonels yesterday. I'd say the same thing had many other 9 region teams were at Rupp instead of the Colonels.

You say they lacked the intensity they had the last few games. I'd say it wasn't intensity. I'd say it was the fact they played much lesser teams.

Again, this is not a personal attack of any member of the Camel team or staff.

Sometimes it's just good to state the facts.

First of all the Camels don't decide which region they get to play in. I don't agree that they are " on a lower level than many of the 9th region teams". They beat Dixie (who beat CovCath) and beat several other 9th Region teams that CovCath struggled with during the tournament. I get what you're trying to say as Campbell didn't play NewCath, Holmes, etc and perhaps they could have played some other top ranked teams from around the state. But "rankings" don't mean anything to me (see NewCath and Mason Co.). I don't think you would consider Newport a "top level" team in the 9th Region, yet they were a free throw away from putting CovCath into baseball season. When it comes down to it, you gotta play who you gotta play and you have to play your best to beat the other team on the floor that night. Anything can happen on any given night. Campbell County didn't play well and CovCath did. I just don't agree that Campbell is on a lower level than most other 9th Region teams. JMO.

  2. CovCath is a quality team and played a great game. CVH had a great game. Cooper T. played a great supporting role. Hats off to CovCath for moving on. Knowing all of the kids from Campbell personally, there is no question they have heart and talent, and for anybody that actually saw them play in the District and Regional tournament, that was on full display. Yes I picked the Camels to win and thought they would be right there. It just didn't happen. Going 2-14 from three didn't help, but the Camels just didn't play well in the 2nd and 3rd quarter. Give CovCath some credit for that too. Good luck to CovCath for moving on. The Camels had a great season and have nothing to hang their heads about. And for those Camel "supporters" that want to bash the kids, coaches, or program the Camels will be fine without you.

  3. The entire Camels team played well, however...... I have to send out KUDOS to Blake Losey.....I'm sure it went unnoticed by most, but Losey's injury from the Pendleton game was much worse than most know. He had to get INTENSE treatments Tuesday morning, then again Tuesday afternoon to hopefully give him the ability to play at all Tuesday night. Blake's ability to play was pretty much a game time decision.......Way to grit it out and give it all you got Blake....... Kudos to You :thumb::thumb::thumb:

As great a game as he played on Monday night, I wasn't sure he could play any better. But Tuesday night was just a gutsy performance by the kid who was obviously in pain all night.... and the entire team followed his lead. :thumb:

  4. What many fail to realize is that Campbell County learned last year that there are really only 5 games that truly mean anything in the entire season and those are the 2 district games and 3 regional games. While it's nice to go 30-0 or 28-3 and be "ranked" in some poll all year, what does that really get you ... Nothing. Not saying that the Camels weren't trying to win every game, but when they didn't, it wasn't the end of the world. These kids kicked it into another gear last year and they've done it again this year. Regardless of who they've played recently, they are playing at a completely different level and intensity right now and I wouldn't count them out of anything. I'll leave the predicting to all of the "experts" .....

  5. Not a lot of doubt in this one. Losey had a spectacular first half, then sat most of the second half nursing a hip pointer. Hopefully ready to go tomorrow.

One of the great things about tourney time is seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Tonight I got to meet the man - the myth - the legend - Sportsfan13.:thumb:

The pleasure was all mine mcpapa. Also got to finally meet Randy Parker and his super human fingers as well as LCDawgs. Nice to put a face with an avatar.

  6. Wilson's first field goal came when the game was tied at 2.

That's about the time the Camels had that game in hand ... Many people questioned if the Camels missing Wilson in the BOKC game made a difference. It obviously showed tonight. In that previous game Scott was able to get to the basket and finish without distraction. Tonight they were looking for Mr. Wilson as they went down the lane. His presence alone makes a difference on both ends of the court. Dominating win by the Camels.
