Campbell County trailed entire game. Took the lead about the 2 or 3 minute mark of the 4th quarter. DeAndre Jackson with a big 4th quarter tallying 11 points. Jackson finished with 21; Holbrook with 15 and Matt Wilson with 19 before fouling out. Great game to watch.

Referees decided to make an appearance this quarter and called about 150 fouls. Game got a bit chippy as well. Conner continues to play hard and very physical. Wilson and Jackson sat out a lot of 3rd.

I haven't seen Highlands yet this year, but sounds like they've been struggling a bit. Newport plays hard and aggressive. If Snapp is hitting from outside, I'll give the edge to Newport on the home court.

...and yes Coach Snapp from Newport is very entertaining .... We'll worth the $5 ticket.

I was at the game as well and know the kid in question. He plays hard and gives 100%. Had a chance to speak to him later and he said he knew he wasn't supposed to take the ball out against the press but saw an opportunity to grab the ball and get it in quickly before the other team set up the press (which he did). I think the ball got turned over a bit later in the possession. Hard to fault him for trying to make a play but obviously the coach didn't see it that way. I personally don't have a problem with a coach getting into a player a bit to make a point as long as there's no physical contact and the coach is not trying to ridicule or embarrass the player. Hopefully the coach takes time later to make it a teaching moment. I've certainly seen worse.

Brossart dominated this game every which way. Augusta tried to pressure a bit but Brossart didn't turn it over. Brossart kids are very smart with the ball and very unselfish. They passed up a lot of open looks to get "better" shots. Hard to find that at the HS level sometimes.

Campbell County JV team has only lost twice this year; lost to Dixie by 5 in a game they led the entire way and lost to CovCath on a walk off at the buzzer. Good group coming up; and keep in mind Wilson and McGovney are both Sophomores playing varsity.
