I've not heard the consolidation rumor but the same transfer rules apply for athletes during a consolidation so they would have to move and I don't think any or many of those kids would move to Garrard County for academics or athletics.....JUST MY OPINION!!!! As far as the Mercer/Harrodsburg consolidation goes.......granted they had some good player but they were allowed to play in 2A and should have had to move to 3A. I think there was only 4 classes in football at that time.....my point is....they didn't have any issues the first year because they won a state championship and that probably solved a lot of the problems the first year.

They talked to one person yesterday and would think they would be announcing something soon.

As I said when the process began......"they can't get it right"....... but from what I'm hearing they are going to get it right this time!!!

If it's the person I'm hearing it is, the school will be getting a great teacher and coach!

Just be patient but I think you will like what you hear!

I agree the applicates should be considered but conversations could have already happened with the coach they want and this is all just a formality. I'm thinking the latter has happened and they are just going through the process. :sssh:

Looks like Mitch Barnhart might have learned his lesson on a couple of his hires(I'm sure he was told about Calipari the first time but didn't listen) so hopefully Garrard has learned too.

I have a right to worry as do other people as to what goes on at that school as long as I am paying those high dollar school taxes and as long as I have kids going to school there. I just know that they have had a hard time hiring the right coaches and if you don't believe me just ask the kids that play basketball at the school. My trust level is very low on the hiring practices and until they show me, the community or any other tax paying citizen they can do better I will continue to complain. The bottom line is I think everyone knows this is one of the most important hires in a long time at the school and are really hoping they get it right this time.

They don't care what the community wants. With that said.....they will tell you what you want to here and do the total opposite......at least one person at that high school will do that!!!!!

I know the schools can set the dates for spring ball. My thinking is if they wait until March to name a coach and he gets settled in then it could be to late or not able to have spring practice. Don't know if there is such a thing as to late for spring ball?? Not saying that will happen....just using that as a scenerio!!

No reason why you couldn't eliminate at least half of them right off the bat.

Some that quit had a lot of experience. I think some want to come back, but it will all depend on who is the new assigner. We definitely could use some more good officials.

It should only come into question if he intends on coach only until he retires......that can easily be cleared up by asking if he intends on coaching after retirement. No school would want to hire a coach if he is only going to coach and teach for a couple of years but with that said....there are no guarantee's that any coach they hire will stay any longer. IMO, they need to get a coach hired so the kids can go through spring ball with their new coach......that may be the intention of the school...who knows!

I know how refing in high school works and agree with everything you said but I can tell you that favorites are played in the 12th region and that's why some of the better officials have quit calling games. The assigner has his favorites and it was proven by the official that represented the 12th region in last years boys state tournament. He was not the best official in the 12th region......I will even go as far as saying he wasn't in the top five. I also know that they are not held accountable for mistakes they make like other regions do because some make the same mistakes every time they call a game. I watch a lot of high school basketball and know that the ref's are part of the game but I also know they should not determine the outcome of a game. Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming everything on the officials. I think there should be more training before they turn someone loose to call middle school, JV or vasrsity basketball.

They need to be held more accountable when they mess up. Players fight they get thrown out......coaches go off they get a technical. Referee's blow a call or a rule they get more games assigned to them. Officiating might get better if there was consequences when they mess up.

Boyle shoots 9 free throws and Southwestern shoots 25 and I agree about the officiating in this game but the officiating in most of the 12th region games are terrible.

There should be a parade through town. :jump:
