  1. I never thought I would see a Socialist High School Football alignment LOL

Distribution of wealth Gridiron Version now featuring Welfare State Titles. :lol2:

This is exactly what we have now. i thought you would like that. Lets do not ask schools to excel even more, let's make sure they are all happy getting a Welfare Trophy so they have something to brag about. A watered down, highly overrated, first place finish without being challenged.

  2. Last I checked the goal is to win State Championship rings? Until they make a Tournament of Champions a program is going to do what is best to help them win the title. I would rather have a Championship over a lofty Lit Rating any day.

Here is the basis for the difference in our opinions. You are more worried about how many titles can be won in a class your team happens to dominate. By your reasoning, the New England Patriots could drop out of the NFL and play 10 games each year along with a playoff bracket with 50 5th grade teams, win the title, and you call that success. That's not what we call that where I come from.

Why would the 2A team go to 3A if 2A is already the more competitive class and the best 3A team is not there? Take a look at this year alone. If Belfry is in 4A Mayfield may have one team in 3A who can compete with them, Corbin (a team they already beat). Meanwhile in 2A they have CAL, DeSales, Danville, etc.. I would argue 2A is tougher than 3A without Belfry so why would Mayfield play up in a watered down 3A when their better competition is already in 2A?

Again you take a single season, and want to make comparisons. I am talking over a DECADE. FYI, Mayfield will again win a title in 2A without a lot of trouble barring disasterous injuries.

If Bowling Green leaves 5A why would Johnson Central want to play in a watered down 5A when 4A has the better teams this year?

Mostly because they want the challenge of winning at a higher level, and deservedly so. If 5A proves to be too weak for them, then they can attempt 6A a decade later.

What happens to the lower tier 6A Teams like Dunbar, Muhlenberg County, etc? Do they get the option to play down?

YES. Most definitely. If teams that are consistently in a class that they are overmatched in want to move down to a more competitive class, then they should be afforded that opportunity also. The cream of the crop will continue to rise.

The even numbered classes will be a catch all between the best teams playing up and the good teams wanting to play the best teams and not wanting to move.

Class 1A will basically be the small school have not's. Class 5A will be the big schools who want a participation trophy that dont want to challenger the 6A powerhouses. Class 3A will end up being a collection of teams like Caldwell, Lawrence County, and Garrard County that need everyone playing in other classes so they can finally get over the hump.

I am talking about all teams being on a talent level that suits them. Yes, school size is a good starting place to decide these levels, but by no means the end all be all.

  3. I knew that would get a rise out of you, if anybody. Here's the truth. You will see that over time teams that stay in classes that are TYPICALLY full of lesser talented schools will become complacent and fall back to the pack if you do not continue to challenge them to get better (this is no different than any other aspect of life). The only way to do this is to make their competition better. Let's take Mayfield for instance. It seems they have had no trouble moving from 1A to 2A, and are a better team for it. You see ATLCat, with this process happening the next hungry team is always coming up through the ranks. There is a cap to it. I would never suggest that Mayfield be moved to 6A, but a move to 3A in 10 years or so may not be out of the question. That could possibly be their cap. Your logic of only 3 quality classes holds no water here. What about the 2A team that has been moved to 3A, or the 4A team that moves up to 5A? Did you forget about those. Caldwell is a top tier 3A school, they too have seemed to have no problem adjusting. Will they always be a top 3A school? Time will tell. Maybe that move was best for them at this time. Maybe 10 or 20 years from now, they need to be a 2A school or a 4A school. You see ATLCat dominating a lower class is not a success, competing at a higher level is. If you move a team up, and 10 years later they have struggles to compete it would be best to move them down. Moving up a class should not be looked at like a punishment, but as an award for excellence. Pushing people to succeed is what it is all about, and rewarding them for such success. Instead, too many are worried about win/loss records and how many state titles the can accumulate. (NOT POINTING ANY FINGERS). Raising the standard for one school raises the standard for all.

  4. Belfry should be a 4A school to start with. Actually, they should be going to the KHSAA and demand to be moved up a class. Currently there are two schools who should do this (Belfry and Bowling Green). When schools start doing this, the 6 Class system we currently have will start working for the benefit of the whole state and the state of high school football in Kentucky by raising the competition level. This is not to say these teams

  5. Not running the offense leads to kids not being ready to take over certain positions once it is their time. Lets take a QB who is a freashman sitting behind a senior QB in a spread offense. You want him to just hand the ball off, and not get comfortable with running the "normal" offense? With that train of thought you a shortchanging the freshman by not allowing him to learn the offense in a game situation. Something impossible to duplicate in practice. Realize that next season, or possibly the next game with an injury to the starting QB, this will be the #1 QB. Just allowing him to only be in there for run plays, only leads to punishing this kid. Let him run the offense that he has, and the other trailing team adjust accordingly.

  6. Running up the score with the 1st string in is absolutely ridiculous. However, when the second string or lower is inserted into the game it is to the benefit for that squad to run the same offense they would normally run. If they too, continue to raise the spread then the team leading should begin simply taking a knee or half hearted runs. EXAMPLE: team A leads by a score of 35 - 0. team A then inserts its #2s and continues to run regular offense the score is now 49 - 0. Team A should begin kneeling and not continue to run normal offense. This allows team A to develop its players for future games, without damaging the team B's psychy. Real time play is extremely hard to duplicate in practice, and these kids deserve the right to develop themselves when the opportunity arises.

  7. I am sure the school system will see to it that this NEVER becomes an issue. By reading the post by Watusi, Belfry is stepping up to the plate and taking the necessary steps to insure that punishment is handed out. I do not know if these punishments cut deep enough, but I am not there and do not know the situation first hand.maybe this coach had a stellar record prior to being employed at Belfry (I doubt it), and this is an isolated incident that could not have been thwarted prior to his employment thus letting the administration off the hook. Regardless, it is a black eye for the Pike County Public School System.

  8. Whoa, down Tiger.

You think the principal should be fired? Shut down the school? Comical.

YES and YES. If this type of behavior is tolerated or overlooked then most definitely. As I pointed out, there should be grave consequences for the actions of these individuals. They should be made an example of. This would go a long way in curbing this type of outburst in the future. There is ABSOLUTELY no room for this type of behavior in a setting such as this one. The comedy only comes in when there are those defending these actions, and making excuses for those involved.

  9. Seems to me that if I felt my team was not going to be treated fairly in a venue that I would simply not appear at said venue in the first place. However, that didn't take place. It is obvious from the clip we have all seen that this was not the beginning of what transpired, but the result of what had already transpired prior to this 2nd Technical being called (which I believe results in the penalized coach leaving the arena at that point). Now we are informed that prior to the game being played, the Belfry coach had requested a change in referees and it was not granted (which probably did nothing more than fuel an existing fire). Once leaving a school, and causing bad blood between the two competing schools, then requesting the referees be disqualified because you felt they were cheaters, and lastly showing up with a chip on your shoulder about the whole thing. What did you expect? Did this coach really think that he would be hailed in his return? Did he actually believe that the opposing school didn't mind his accusations? Did he think, for one second, that the ref wouldn't have a chip on his shoulder for the coach trying to get him basically fired? I don't remember Pitino doing this when he returned to Rupp Arena. You see folks, although the odds are stacked against you, and you feel there is no way out, there is ALWAYS the ability to rise above all the petty in-differences between two parties and play the role of the adult you are required to be in a coaching position of young individuals. To, in any way, defend the actions of the Belfry coach is absurd and a shame. HIS actions alone, prior to and during this contest, are childish and an embarrassment to coaches everywhere at every level who dedicate their time and efforts, both paid and unpaid to the development of youth. This is the type of behavior is conducive to a spoiled child, and those individuals have no business in leadership roles over the youth of this country or leadership roles in ANY capacity for that matter. If this type of leadership is accepted at a school like Belfry, then the whole school should be shut down and closed permanently. At a minimum, the coaching staff should be FIRED, JAILED, and forced to NEVER be involved IN ANY CAPACITY with youth programs anywhere. Not only that, but whoever hired these individuals should be no less than suspended without pay for one year; if not relieved of their duties in the administration of youth permanently. It is time for people to stand up and demand that this type of action will not be tolerated at any level. I am not even touching how anyone that makes excuses for this man or trying to place blame somewhere else should too see the ramifications of their actions. Sports, in general, have been given a black eye because of the reckless actions of individuals just like this one. Instead of showing the hard work, dedication, team work, and thousands of other values that sports offer youth that they can not get anywhere else, we hear of misguided individuals like this coach blatantly disgracing the whole concept. My only hope is that Belfry makes an example of this person and anyone associated with him without bias, and remains the school most of us believe it to be. One where integrity, hard work, and moral values are the forefront and not an afterthought. Current faculty, staff, students, and all alumni should demand NO LESS from the school now and in the future. We shall soon see where this institution stands.

  10. Also to clarify this misleading title on this thread..... This was not a brawl. Just a little scuffle with very few people involved in the actual fight. Look up some video for brawls if you want to see what that really is.....

NO. ABSOLUTELY NOT. THIS IS A BRAWL. A despicable, uncalled for, out of the ordinary BRAWL. Everyone involved should be banned from attending games. The coaches from Belfry should NEVER be allowed in organized sports again. The father of the coaches should be banned from attending events, and lose his magistrate position (obviously he has no business being a public servant). The referees should also be banned from even attending organized sports much less being a part of them.

  11. There are no "passes" given in this mess for ANYONE. The father should have NEVER been on the court period. The son should have NEVER attacked the ref in the first place. The head coach should have NEVER directed his team to leave the court after getting a T, regardless of the situation (he is to be the better person that is why he is the paid head coach). The head coach incites the whole thing by his initial action of pulling his team.

  12. The AD and 2 coaches that stayed on to run the show came to see the player 2 times and told him that the AD said the school was going to honor all offers that the old coach made and to not go anywhere else. The player took them on their word and did not go looking for any other offers as he wanted to go and play for this terrible program for some reason. Now do you see a lie anywhere??? this offer came directly from the AD whether or not he had the authority to do so or not. With decisions like this would you send a player of your there? one win in three years looks like he would get rid of the old not the new!

So let me get this straight, two coaches came to see this kid and said that the AD told them that the kid's scholly would be honored. If I am understanding this right, an assistant coach or 2 that miraculously saved their job through a coaching change told a kid that the AD said that the school will honor their commitment to him eventhough they had a coaching change and now that is not the case. Sounds to me like they didn't get rid of quite enough of the coaching staff.

  13. You have a big led and pull your starters.

Do you allow the back ups to run your offense, or do you just being them in the game to run it up the gut three times and then punt the ball away?

I love this question. It seems that if you have a graduating senior QB, coaches need to let the potential starter next season learn the system. Help me understand the thought process of letting a guy go three and out and learn very little. Wouldn't the future starter benefit from running the full offense in games he can't lose, than waiting another season to put his feet to the fire?

THANKS in advance for all replies.
