  1. The Reds will win three of four.

    Like I said....

Ridiculous that a first place team can't win a series from a below .500 fourth place team in their division.

Reds are making the right moves and getting the right young people in the right spots. Lots of reason for optimism in 2020.

  2. Went to two games at Wrigley Field in June 1996 when the fog coming off Lake Michigan was so thick, you couldn't see any of the buildings past the scoreboard. At one point, David Abreu of the Expos complained to the umpires, who had a Montreal coach come out and hit pop ups so that they could see whether Abreu's beef was legit. Abreu missed one of the pop ups and got booed. The umps continued the game. Ironically, there were no errors in the game. Pedro Martinez started and got the loss for the Expos.

The Louisville game is in Rupp.

Overall, a pretty good schedule. As far as season ticket holders go, probably not worth the price although Louisville helps. I'm curious if the home schedule improves once the Rupp Arena renovations are complete.

  4. Largest football game - 1993 Peach Bowl at the old Georgia Dome. -- 63,416

Largest baseball game - 1983 baseball game at Milwaukee County Stadium between the Brewers and White Sox when they hated each other -- 54,716. It was the fourth largest crowd to see a game at the old County Stadium that season. I was introduced to tailgating that night. Thousands of people in the parking lot with grills, gloves, baseballs, and footballs. Their tradition was to share food with everyone in their row. We traded brats for pork chops and burgers. We traded homemade potato salad for succotash and elk. I don't think people do that kind of thing today. Each row in the parking lot was their own block party.

  5. Searching the couch for loose change or doing chores to save up money to ride my bike to the grocery store and buy baseball cards. I would go through the cards only to have a Larry Harlow or Barry Foote in every pack.

As I got older, it was neighborhood wiffle ball. 1v1v1, 2v1, and on the good days when everyone was home, 4v4.

There were a few pool and beach days. Every Thursday and Saturday was spent in the tobacco patch.

  6. Josh did a good job. Had big shoes to fill and filled them nicely.

Instead of moving him, you would think they would add a high school reporter but just another example of how large city newspapers don't value their high school sports coverage. Four people covering the UK Basketball/Football beat and one person covering eight high schools in Fayette County and a dozen more in the surrounding counties.

Newspaper management just don't get it. Or they don't care.

  7. Reds will win this series.

I had this weekend circled in the spring as coming up for the three-game series. I enjoyed GABP when I was there for a three-game series two years ago. Not a bad seat in the house and the concessions are easily accessible. Won't be able to make it unfortunately
