  1. Assuming your count is correct, I think it shows how seriously these "all star" team selections should be taken. Brossart, probably the 4th or 5th best team in N. Ky. this past season with 6 selections? Really? Over half their team was so good as to garner post-season recognition? Ryle with 5? Seriously...
  2. I don't typically weigh in on basketball matters but I'd be surprised if there are many people at CCH that harbor bad feelings toward Coach Schrand. He's got a lot of friends there still as does his son I'm sure. I doubt there would be any attempt to beat HC by a bigger margin because he's there. Plus we don't want any HC people whining like all the people down on Beechwood Road are doing after a beating but my guess is they have a little thicker skin anyway....
  3. Or they could just play on.................and on....................and on..................and on..............
  4. I would have to agree. While NDA is a good team there are very few boys teams they would hang around with outside of Holmes, Villa or Latin. Any of the top 5-6 boys varsity teams would beat them easily.......possibly by double digits. I think there is a major lack of understanding of the difference in physicality, speed and strength on the boys varsity side vs. the girls side. I am hoping the post was made in jest....
  5. Longer or more OT's is fine with me.......within reason. But if someone can't score then it should go to PK's like the rest of the entire WORLD does it. It's not a great way to end but it beats playing on endlessly. And I don't buy the comparison to a free throw shooting contest either. Anyone who thinks that probably has never participated in a PK shootout. I don't recall anyone ever shooting a free throw in bball while having someone in front of the net waiting to swat away any shot not perfectly placed.
  6. As distasteful as I find PK's in ending a soccer match, it is the universally accepted way of ending games worldwide. I think any proposal to do it in some other fashion is silly. I could see a little longer OT or something of that nature but when all of that is over with, PK's should decide a winner/loser.
  7. If you hold a team to 3 shots on goal while scoring 2 goals yourself I'd say you were probably the better team OldTime. Sounds like the Pandas have a pretty dominant defense. Passing and possession is fine but if you can't make it happen in that final third it doesn't get you much. Congrats to NDA.
  8. 29 minutes to go. Goal by Kristin Sherrard.............spelling?
  9. It will be interesting to hear how Highlands plays this game. Do they pack it in and defend the whole game or try to play with Dunbar? From all accounts it sounds like Dunbar was well on their way to blowing out Brossart at halftime before they called the dogs off and put their reserves in the game. They may have too much firepower for Highlands to try and play straight up.
  10. Having seen both of these teams I would pick Highlands in this game. I think they split during the season? That big field at Ryle favors a more skilled team and I think that's Highlands if they can stop the long ball game.
  11. A type of team that you are better than is what I was referring to. What you don't settle during the game you have to leave to PK's and that's a crap shoot. Read the newspaper summary of the game that someone else posted on another thread, it's pretty accurate. If you were there you should know what I'm talking about. Shots, time of possession, etc. all favored CCH but they just didn't have the ability to finish and that's their fault. Colonels had over twice as many shots on goal. They should have taken care of business but didn't.
  12. Congrats to Colonels on a good season. Better than I expected at the start but it ended too soon. If you can't score you let a team like that hang around and PK's bit you in the butt. Well played overall except for the finishing.
  13. I would agree that the toughest task for both Dunbar and Trinity may be to make it out of their own region. Trinity has a little tougher task there probably. Regardless, the teams coming out of those two regions have to be the favorites for the final.
  14. I would have to say that is dead on accurate. Dunbar will beat the 10th region winner like a rented mule probably. Depending on the 9th region winner that game will be a little better. Also agree that it is Dunbar and Trinity at the end. I'll go with Dunbar as well.
  15. Stop O'Hara from scoring and you beat Boone. Sounds like that is what NCC is doing. Losing Borkowski probably hurt Boone, assuming he is still out. By the way, the Highlands/Ryle thread says "closed thread"............what does that mean?
  16. And I agree that in general, a well called game by the officials. Surprising.
  17. Thought this was the boys side at first. Was that game last night as well?
  18. St. Henry had a few looks at goal in the first 5-10 minutes but after that they were dominated. Good effort all around by the Colonels. I think maybe 2-3 shots on goal for St. Henry. Not sure how many for CCH but the peppered the goal pretty well. Hope they get over the win by tomorrow and refocus.
  19. When did one of Scott's best defenders get a red card? Which game was that? Just curious.....
  20. I think any of 5-6 teams can make some noise.........NCC is certainly one of them.
  21. This is pretty surprising to me really. I'd have picked Highlands by a couple of goals.
  22. At the risk of bursting your bubble, I'd say that nobody in particular seems too hot right now in N. Ky. Might have a better answer once districts are concluded.
  23. Yes, I think oddly that you are correct. 5 varsity regulars playing in the JV tournament? What a sad program and bunch of parents. Even worse that two of those players can't make it through the JV tournament without red cards.
