I understand they did have a scholarship reduction. Still a light penalty.

Highlands in 2000 beat Trinity with ease to open the season at a bowl game in Montgomery County. Trinity rebounded to get to the championship game which they lost to Male. I believe the Bluebirds would have had a good shot at winning vs Male that year.

Would like the Bengals to keep as many of their free agents as possible.

Hope Brian is successful in all his endeavors. He was a great kid in high school and was a good coach in his years in Fort Thomas. Following Dale had to be tough.

I grew up in the region when Boone County was a power. The development of rural Boone County into a suburban economy and the resulting addition of new high schools is part of the issue. Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that a high percentage of students live in rental properties and I believe that person is spot on. Not just because of being renters but coupled with an equally high percentage of them being in single parent households. It is tough parenting athletes in high school for a lot of reasons including commitment of both time and money. Parental involvement in sports programs for high schoolers is one of the great measuring sticks of success. Most parents at Boone don’t have the resources to commit to the program to breed success compared to the other county schools of Conner, Cooper, and Ryle. Not to say it’s easy for parents involved with those schools but it is easier. Highlands, Beechwood, and Mayfield are all examples of what happens when you have community involvement committed to the program.

Would like to see Highlands play Boyle County on a regular basis.

Standardize the High School posts to 18'6".

Beechwood had an amazing year considering the midseason loss of Berger. They understand the team concept.

It is not broke. Don't try and fix it. It is High School folks; that spells community involvement.

Hopeful the rain will be done early; the field drains really well so if raindrops aren't falling during the game itself all should be well. Go 'Bird's!!!!

Covington Catholic wins this comfortably.

This announcing crew give a whole new meaning to the word “homer”!

If Ryle manages to beat the Colonels what will that do to Covington Catholic's RPI and will it also impact Highlands' RPI?
-
Woulda, Coulda, Shouda. It was a sound idea to have Benke at TE and Noon at WR but the three QB's Highlands played against SW just did not have the experience to play the position out of the gate. Could speculate all day long on what would have been had Benke been taking the lions share of reps all summer!
-
I remember Ryle beating some very good teams!

Offensive play calling was very suspect. They learned something on the safety; the next time they were backed against their goal line Benke went straight up the gut for a first down on the 11! Run, run, pass. Might have fit the game plan but anyone watching could predict what was coming. Bird's made some great plays with the screen plays to the running backs; definitely would have used that play more often. Running Noon up the middle not the best use of a supremely talented athlete. Time to rest and get ready for a playoff run. Seems like a long time since we finished 1st in the district.

Good win! Saw Cantrell ratings this morning has the Bird's at #3 behind FD and Bowling Green! Don't read the press clippings guys! Focus on Cooper!
-
Last week was last week. Focus on the Jags!
-
Should have been a sack and a safety! Hindsight is always 20 20. The end result was the same.
-
Way to go Birds! Beat Cooper!

The champ is the champ until they are dethroned; let's go Bird's beat the Colonels!

Kentucky needs to keep their heads up and go all out on S C. No doubt in my mind that last sack wouldn't happen with the starting right tackle in the game.

Highlands at Ryle on Tuesday might give some more perspective.
