  2. I grew up in the region when Boone County was a power. The development of rural Boone County into a suburban economy and the resulting addition of new high schools is part of the issue.  Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that a high percentage of students live in rental properties and I believe that person is spot on.  Not just because of being renters but coupled with an equally high percentage of them being in single parent households.  It is tough parenting athletes in high school for a lot of reasons including commitment of both time and money.  Parental involvement in sports programs for high schoolers is one of the great measuring sticks of success.  Most parents at Boone don’t have the resources to commit to the program to breed success compared to the other county schools of Conner, Cooper, and Ryle.  Not to say it’s easy for parents involved with those schools but it is easier.  Highlands, Beechwood, and Mayfield are all examples of what happens when you have community involvement committed to the program.

  3. Offensive play calling was very suspect.  They learned something on the safety; the next time they were backed against their goal line Benke went straight up the gut for a first down on the 11!  Run, run, pass.  Might have fit the game plan but anyone watching could predict what was coming.  Bird's made some great plays with the screen plays to the running backs; definitely would have used that play more often.  Running Noon up the middle not the best use of a supremely talented athlete.  Time to rest and get ready for a playoff run.  Seems like a long time since we finished 1st in the district.
