  1. No need to re-invent the wheel- Here's some issues I see with the above. Remember this is just my opinion. Re:"I think the best teams should be in the region tournament" What makes them the best teams ?? their record?? or if they play a tough schedule and they are perceived to be a "good team" - too many variables for me. RE:Why not take all teams to the regional with 1's playing 4's and 2's playing 3's from opposite districts. You could still play a district tournament or use the season district games to seed it. Sounds like a nightmare- why would you want all the teams in a region tournament - that's what makes what we have now work- you can be from a weaker district and still get to play in the regional tournament. What if your district is somewhat "weaker" and you get paired with a district that's a "loaded" district each year- that's not fair either. Every year there are teams that "should be in the regional or state tournament" that are not and teams that are in that are unexpected- that's what makes it exciting ( again, in my opinion) Re:It just isn't very fair for some teams. Need I remind you about life?? I like the current system. I also do not want a shot clock!! Play defense and no one holds the ball.
  2. Nothing better than 2 good student sections at a game. Profanity is not needed and I honestly haven't encountered that too often. Some of the stuff they come up with is pretty darn good. Nothing worse than student sections that show up, don't cheer, are on their phones and then start to cheer when their team is winning at the end. Cheer the whole time and put some effort into it!!!!
  3. Thread says NKY PA Announcers but only list 9th region- Technically NKY would include some 10th Region teams. Just a shout out to Mr. Shannon (Bishop Brossart ) who plays the best music when he gets to pick it and its not picked by the ball team. LOL
  4. I think its just more even across the board, therefore making it anyone's game. Most teams have several players that can make an impact on any given night. That can make preparing for a team a little more challenging. Don't take any team for granted- (just ask Brossart about Scott ) not that they were taking them for granted but the Mustangs came very close to getting knocked out last night. And most peoples' pick ( Bourbon Co) did get knocked out!! Fun and exciting time of year !
  5. I would probably go with 4-5 :( no particular order on first 4) George Rogers Clark, Montgomery Co, Campbell County or Bishop Brossart with Mason County as the longer shot. I do agree that the draw will make all the difference. 2 of my 4 teams will come into the draw a losing team and could be a potential problem for someone coming into the the tournament as a winning team. I'm from the northern end of the 10th region and wish it was being played not so far away but do hope I get to see the new digs at GRC!
  6. Actually the NCC /Bishop Brossart game- 2 of three refs were atrocious- read the game thread - it talks about it.
  7. Wasn't at this game- but the worse officiated game I have seen in many, many years also took place at Newport Central Catholic this year. Seems like I remember others complaining about the refs at NCC also.
  8. I'm sure I'm in the minority but I wish they would go back to the championship game being played on Saturday night. I don't like that they added a whole other day to the format. I know- they will never go back to that schedule but if you like to go to boys and girls that ties up 2 weeks from Wednesday to Sunday. That's alot of vacation for the most people. Another thought- sounds like maybe someone from the KHSAA wants to go to some NCAA tournament games - just saying!! When I go to the tournament I enjoy being able to watch some NCAA games when not watching the Sweet Sixteen tournament.
  9. Looks like they have assigned times to the games (per khsaa ) and these are indeed the late games each night.
  10. We can agree to disagree but if you're a really good team the Cinderella team won't intimidate your great team. This is high school- doesn't have to be like college. And no I'm not for participation trophies and all for hard work.
  11. Why should a team ( unexpected to do anything) that just had a "Cinderella" regional tournament be "rewarded" with playing the best team in the tournament? I like the "luck of the draw". I know how people debate the weekly rankings ( which really mean nothing)- can't imagine how they would react to seeding- I bet some would feel very slighted.
  12. Going by last years brackets- No. The times did not run from top to bottom. ( if that makes sense)
  13. I agree with this- I like to watch a game where defense is played and not just run and gun. I'm old school.
  14. Not sure what's worse - the officiating ( by 2 of them) or the music that was played at half time
  15. QUOTE :They almost beat eventual All A champ Paris, (Another Honcho Prediction!! 10th Baby!) Are you speaking of this year ???
  16. Beechwood is a good team- Brossart played a great game hitting on all cylinders. If the Mustangs can play like they did last night they will be a dangerous opponent. The Mustangs tend to hang around most games and put themselves in position to win on most nights. The game against Highlands could of been a win if Brossart didn't have a few late game turn-overs and the Bluebirds miss a couple of late game 3's. Mustangs are a fun team to watch especially if you like teams that play high intensity defense.
  17. Who do you want them to play- they have to play Bracken, Nicholas County and Paris because they're in their district. They also play Dayton, Bellevue and Ludlow who are all 1 A schools. Frankly I'm happy Brossart still has football after the Khsaa threw them into 2A for a few years which almost made the program fold. The fact that they have a new field is amazing. Hopefully kids that want to play will seize the opportunity to go to Brossart and play. Remember the difference in going to Campbell county and going to Brossart is about $7000 a year. That probably makes a difference for some.
