It's one thing to blindly support your guy, but when you start directly calling out kids you have crossed the line. Grow up, you're talking about a freaking HS kid dude.

 

We are blessed to have a lot of really good ones, would be hard fought to find a better combined group in one area. Abernethy at HC is a really good one too. Had virtually no OL but kept battling. Stringer at Beechwood had 1300 yds and 28 tds and split carries with a senior. Arnold kid at Holmes is a beast on both sides.

 

IMO from a college viewpoint it's Smith, England, and Armstrong in that order. Don't think England is a college tailback, but he's too big and too talented. He will play somewhere. He looks like a LB to me.

I agree!! There is NO reason to call out another kid to build your own kid up. Btw this is a great post IMO.

Who said anything negative about Smith, Powell gets hit because he's always defended or propped up by UK. If you read the earlier post you would see that it was said that the sports writers pick who they want to label and that it was presumtuous to say anyone is better than the other. They are all good backs and working there tails off.

To be honest, all I'm seeing on here is belittling one kid to make another one look better! You know what all these rb are doing, texting each other talking about you guys on here comparing them they thinks it's a joke! Ask them. I know Smiths stats are nice, and if u don't or your not impressed good for you or should I shame on you. Who cares if he doesn't get a full ride d1 scholarship, you know what he is doing working hard at the game he loves. As are all of the young men you are comparing. As I said before I hope EVERYONE of these guys have great seasons, and if by chance they get any offers good for them, that means they are moving on to continue playing the game they love.

I guess each one in entitled to their own opinions and there is nothing wrong with that. I'm sure there is someone from each school who will argue that their rb is the best back in NKY! Good for them, well wishes to all the backs who will be representing their schools this year.... Here is hoping they all have tremendous seasons and stay healthy!!

I didn't come on here to argue with anyone. I just want to give my team some props for their weekend. I don't care what bracket is better or if we played an 8th grade team. We had a great weekend and I hope it's the first of many.

Was it really??? Maybe since you love to bring up Facebook you could take a look at the pics from our first tourney and see who exactly was in it. And another thing, if all you can do is bring up Facebook, clearly you are having an issue with what is being posted why not comment there??? Instead you wanna get on a blog and keep talking behind some whack screen name!

Saying your team almost lost to an 8th grade team is not worrying about your team, it's simply making an observation. Trust me we spend time and effort on our team, and we don't worry about you guys!

I don't think anyone from the Thunder team is concerned with Legacy, but since brackets are being brought up..... The reason your bracket had 8 teams is because it was the weakest, look at the teams in the other 2 brackets, most are ranked nationally.

With a solid senior campaign Jacob Smith will go down as one of the most productive running backs in Newport Central Catholic history. Are you serious?? The poor kids who squirted urine in someone please don't be offensed by what someone is saying about you! Well here is something if you are reading this.... Don't be so quick to give them the win against NCC. Last yr it was the 1st game they played, with a qb situation. We return a lot of good ball players.

Everyone has opinions and I am no exception and little said here is likely to change anyone else opinion nor should it since they did not play head to head. As for comparisons of more than just one game I agree there should be more than that. Calpreps has Mayfield ranked higher, Mayfield had a tougher strength of schedule. Mayfield beat up on highly touted 2A Caldwell before Sindelar went down to injury in the playoffs. Beechwood handily beat NCC the 2A runner up by a score of 30 to 14. Desales beat NCC 26-0. Mayfield beat Beechwood. Everything I see stats wise and comparison wise indicates Mayfield would have been a favorite to have won the 2A title last year over Desales and Mayfield returns far more this year than Desales does. As for your argument that until someone knocks them off as the 2A state champions they should remain #1 does not really apply to the Mayfield, winner of the last 3 state titles with a team returning more than Desales. From an objective standpoint I have made a good case for why I think Mayfield should be the preseason #1 .

Well since you spoke and made such a string point why don't the KHSAA just go ahead and ship Mayfield the state championship trophy, why should DeSales or NCC or Cal or anyone else that's in 2A play this yr???

I believe this is where Mayfield is getting slighted. They are more than kings of 1A. I am not saying they beat Trinity or Highlands, but I am saying they are much, much more than kings of 1A. Calpreps.com had Mayfield #7 in the state in their final ranking last year, higher than DeSales, Bowling Green and others.

 

Yes, I agree that last year's DeSales team was dominant but the Murray score as a point of comparison between Mayfield and DeSales shows they were beatable. Mayfield's strength of schedule last year was actually higher than DeSales.

 

Looking ahead to 2015, it is a close call because I have been very impressed by DeSales the last 2 years, but I am not picking against Mayfield.

Talking about one game is fine when comparing, but shouldn't we agree to discuss how Mayfield barely slid by Williamsburg, in fact Williamsburg shot themselves in the foot. DeSales is a very good team, in my opinion would have given anyone in NKY a run for their money last yr and until someone knocks them off as the 2A state champions they should remain preseason. This is just my opinion though. #1 .

I don't think the post was childish. All we have heard from Desales is about how 2A is gonna be tougher for us. This is because Mayfield has been consistently ranked higher than Desales, so it made it tough for you to argue that your team was better. So you simply imply that your class is better, and better in a way that will make a difference.

I am merely pointing out that we have already been in this class, and we did better in it than Desales ever has. And, well, we are coming back to do it again. I have no idea how you would have done last year against last years williamsburg team. I do know exactly how you did against Murray, and it wasn't exactly impressive. But congratulations on squeaking by them.

The talk is fun, but we are in your class now, and your application for the "woulda coulda shoulda beat Mayfield" club is in the mail.

I like the Desales talk. Let'em be preseason 1. Let'em believe that little ole Mayfield can't compete at the 2A level. Please KHSAA please don't put us in the big bad 2A level, the level where we already were and won five state titles. That's 3 more titles in 2A than what Desales has. I will take Mayfield vs. the field this year. Mayfield will be better this year than last year, at the end of the year. Some growing pains early perhaps.

Wow this is the post you make because there are some people who actually think that DeSales is better than Mayfield? Come on now you sound like a kid! But if we are gonna talk past games blah blah then let's ask a question. What do you think DeSales would have done to the Williamsburg team that took you guys into ot last year?

NKY Legends never said anything about Louisville. They just decided that organization wasn't for them anymore. They went 4-1 this weekend.
