I understand that, he isn't the first kid to leave and return in a short period of time.  He won't be the last either.

That’s why Ballard is now better than people thought. No one knew he would be back and Ballard was ranked as if they would be Sisk-less this season.

BG fans... What is so different from a few weeks ago vs a top rated defense at St. X, to the upcoming Bronco defense that has several posters expecting the Purples to score the point totals I have been seeing here?

Knowing BG is a proud and tradition-rich program, I know they had a game plan fully intent on beating the Tigers. However, they didn't get in the end zone once. The RB1 was held to about 35 yards on 7 attempts. Yet vs SW, he got 142 yds with 13 carries. QB1 threw 12 for 28 vs X for 113 yds and ran once for 8 yds. Based off the stats, it appears that BGs offensive starters likely stayed in well through the 4th quarter.

X had a RB gain 120+ yards, and another gain 80+ yards on the ground against the Purples. So I begin to wonder if this "house money" sentiment is really fans throwing out cautious optimism, or just expecting and/or hoping that the Douglass OC is going to make numerous head scratching playcalls?

I would like to think if I am the Broncos DC, I am primarily watching tape of last week's game and the St. X game, and looking for what was different. Missing players? Different offensive strategy? Or maybe SW just didn't have the athletes.

But the X game is too recent of a defensive shutdown on a team that is averaging over 30+ points in the playoffs to have people saying they are beating Douglass by more than a TD.

Helps that X’s HC was the HC at BG a few years ago. X players were probably handed a very detailed scouting report to say the least. I haven’t seen X since Wallace took over to know if they run the same offense/defense they did when he was at BG.

While Douglass' schedule is tougher, I think the Father Ryan game was a big schedule game.  FR BEAT Cane Ridge #875 nationally and  Brentwood Academy #1694.  Also included in FR's schedule was:

    Montgomery Bell Academy #75

    Baylor Chattanooga #164

    Nashville McCallie #264

In fact they only played 1 team lower than #1532.  I would count that as a huge win.

They did not beat Brentwood Academy, they beat Brentwood High School. Two different programs.

This is from the BG Wikipedia page for the source.  Pretty cool really as it dates way back in the day:  And the "H" does stand for High in High School (it's old school).

Both Bowling Green High School and Louisville Male, another high school located in Louisville, Kentucky, were seeking the same education objectives. In aftermath, both schools agreed to work in unison and have the same school colors, the “purples” mascot, and the “H” to symbolize their schools. Louisville Male would later go on to change their mascot, but Bowling Green High School remained the purples.[1]

Male and Manual were playing each other in football before BGHS ever formed.

If I’m not mistaken, Male is the oldest HS in KY being founded in 1856.

I think @DragonFire is spot on as usual.  I don't see anyone beating the Dragons this year for the regional title.  But I do expect BG to make a run at them and when the game is at BG I think they have a good shot at an upset during the regular season.  But neutral court would just be really difficult this year.  I just think it's Warren Central's year.

BG is always dangerous. Losing Buttry is massive but Starks and Ritter will be a tough duo for anyone, including Central, to handle.
