Warren Central has won 2 state championships. Both times, players with “Whitney” as their last name have won MVP.

Kind of a side question here, but when did the Championship trophy change? Has to have been within last 3-4 years. Not the biggest fan of it. Loved the tall one with the four pillars.

Congrats to WC, they are a great team with an outstanding coach. I am not a GRC fan but the tournament set up was totally unfair to GRC. They literally got to the locker room at 3:30 today and had to be on the court for the finals at 6:30. Are you serious? That is totally wrong!

I'm still confused? Did some of the WC contributors come from BG or other schools? What's the story, what's the Coach's story?
I’m confused what you are asking about the “story”?
Of the 6 Seniors, I believe all but Wells have been at WCHS for 4 years. This group has been talked about since they were freshmen. I guess that’s the team’s “story”?
Coach Unseld took over once Riley left back in 2011-2012. Unseld is a WCHS alum and played college basketball at South Carolina.
Hope that clears up some things.

Purples outplayed the Dragons IMO. Rebounded well, shot it well, just couldn’t get the lead late.
Purples are going to be a PROBLEM for the rest of the state next season. They’ll be battled tested as DG didn’t shy away from tough games this season. Most teams would lose their last two and go into postseason with drained confidence. BG, mostly with huge improvements from Ritter, made a strong postseason showing.

I don’t think Barren had the lead until the final shot. Could be wrong but they trailed a majority of the game.
Good showing by the Hornets. Small school that always battles in every sport.

A lot of these kids play AAU ball so two games in a day shouldn’t, and I don’t believe is, a big deal.

Not going to lose many games shooting 7/12 from 3.

I always thought it was funny that we only talk about travel distance in football. So many Kentucky high school baseball teams travel to South Carolina or Florida every year for tournaments. Likewise, many Kentucky boys and girls basketball teams travel crazy distances for Holiday Tournaments every December. But, when we make new football alignments, travel distance is important.
Different logistics for moving 75-100 kids v 15-20. Especially in a time where there’s a bus driver shortage in many areas.

From a win/loss standpoint Barren and Warren Central made the best choice.
Warren Central’s travel for district games is now better than it was 15 years ago. 🤷🏻♂️

It doesn't make any sense to me either. I think parents and students should run away from Warren Central.
As an alumni and spouse of someone working in the building (who is also an alum) , I’d love for you to come down to WCHS and see what the school does have to offer. All you see is a football score and pass judgment.

That was some bad basketball by WC. Got outplayed and out-hustled.

I think attendance is affected these days by the ability of fans to be able to sit in the comfort of their homes and watch the games on streaming services. I don’t know how much it is a factor but I know quite a few people who once came to a lot of local games that now watch them through streams if they are available.
I would 100% rather pay and be there in person than watch from home. I don’t know how many share the same sentiment, but watching the state tourney from home last year stunk! Would much rather had been able to make it in person.

Love watching this team. The rebounds, assists and TOs stick out to me in this game. GC needs to focus the offense more on Moreno.

Ritter was a load. He moves so well for his size and is able to avoid fouling. REALLY nice looking player.

NL had issues with BG’s Ritter last night. Makes me wonder if they will continually struggle with teams that have a big interior presence? Give me that OOS team by 20

Way to go! Congrats!

From what I saw at Rupp, Ashland would be making a HUGE mistake not hiring Bonner.
Surely this is just a formality.
