  1. Big gain on 3rd Down by Justice to Belfry 19. 1st and 10 Panthers.
  2. Honestly cannot believe that happened.
  3. Awful job by Belfry.. everyone in Eastern Kentucky knows an onside kick is coming and Belfry runs past the football allowing a Pikeville recovery.
  4. BELFRY 11 carries, 131 yards Woolum- 3 carries, 87 yards, TD. INT on Defense. Varney 3/7 Passing, 77 yards, TD 208 Total Yards PIKEVILLE 16 carries, 61 yards Reynolds 11/19 Passing, 51 yards, 2 INT 112 Total Yards
  5. HALF The story of the First Half has been miscues and Belfry's playmakers making explosive plays. The punt failure on Pikeville's first punt gifted Belfry a score. Belfry's defense has done a very good job limiting Pikeville's offense. The Panthers are not a strong running team but Belfry has basically forced Pikeville to settle for short passes and has made good tackles in space. The Pirates have had some good late pressure as well forcing Reynolds to took and scramble. A pair of Pirate interceptions have came when Pikeville has kind of forced it down field. One they had a mis-communication on a route and Belfry collected it, the other a good play by JB Woolum. Belfry hit back to back explosive plays and that's essentially how we got here. Belfry gets the ball coming out of the Half.
  6. Kick is good. 21-3 Belfry 5 seconds left in 2nd
  7. Decision time for Pikeville. They will line up for a 32 yard Field Goal. Belfry calls a Timeout.
  8. Pikeville out of timeouts.. 14.7 seconds.
  9. Don't count out Pikeville yet.. driving to B15.. but more importantly don't forget the Raceland game was similar to this.
  10. Massive turn of events! Pikeville has returned it inside the 30 of Belfry and was 1st and 10 at the 15 looking to cut it to 7 but instead Belfry extends the lead to a 3-score advantage.
  11. Woolum then houses it on first play 80 yards TOUCHDOWN BELFRY 4:55 in 2nd 21-0 Belfry
  12. Pressure leads to a Woolum interception.
  13. Huge return gives Pikeville life.
  14. 76 yard Varney to Eli Caudill Touchdown Belfry 14-0 Belfry 6:17 in 2nd
  15. Belfry three and out then Pikeville three and out as well.
  16. Belfry stalls out inside the 20. 32 yard Field Goal by Savage is no good. Belfry 7-0 1:01 in 1st
  17. Belfry driving to P25. 1st and 10.
  18. Pikeville turns it over on downs in Belfry territory.
  19. Pikeville facing 4th and 1, going for it in their own territory. They convert on a busted play for 2 yards.
  20. Pikeville goes 3 and out. Bad snap on the punt. Belfry tackles him at the 4 and takes over in prime real estate. Dante Davis into the end zone. Touchdown Belfry. Belfry 7 Pikeville 0 10:13 in 1st
  21. Believe it or not things have changed a bit in recent years... cannot confirm for sure but I would sya there is a good chance it will be streamed live on Belfry's youtube page https://www.youtube.com/@bhspiratesportsnetwork
  22. More positive toward Pikeville than negative toward Belfry, but there is a little of both. Pikeville is absolutely loaded with talent in their Sophomore, Freshman, and 8th Grade classes with some of those Freshman & Sophomores already contributing in big ways at the Varsity level. Belfry is a Senior and Junior heavy team, but specifically Senior heavy. Both teams have similar Junior talent but once again Pikeville has maybe a little more getting reps this season. Though Belfry has been competitive with Pikeville at the Middle School level and continue to produce good success, over the past three or four years Pikeville has been a clear step above. Pikeville is going to be an absolute handful once again in 1A for about a 3-4 years window.. they are currently #1 in the State in what was expected to be a bridge year.
  23. I will say this.. Belfry leads the All-Time series by one game. They need this win this year because I have a feeling they are about to lose three or four in a row.
  24. 1A- Pikeville and Raceland seem to have a slight gap on the others. KCD, Hazard, Sayre, and Campbellsville are true threats. 2A- Beechwood is the highlighted favorite but the next four teams are very good. Somerset is starting to position themselves as a fifth threat. 3A- This class has been surprisingly deep and strong but CAL may be the best team outside of Class 6A. LexCath and Bell are both very stout then I think there is a gap but there are more good teams in the Top 10 than recent years. 4A- Pretty open at the top. Your top four teams are all very equal and all have flaws. Think there is gap after them with a bunch of threats. 5A- Extremely wide open. I honestly could see any of 8-9 teams winning the title. It's funny because of CAL was in this class I would probably take them by 2+ TD's over anyone on any field. 6A- Pretty good year for 6A football. It runs through Trinity and X. South Warren definitely is stronger than they have been.
