Was it another case of Grant trying to play man to man defense and constantly putting Owen on the line.
-
How many did each team shoot.

Agree with many of you on this thread. Grant Co. = foul fest = hack fest. Not fun to watch, they need to learn to play real defense without the hacking and fouling. Very ugly game it was. Not fun to watch that mess. Just my opinion of course and everyone has their own opinion.
Grant might look at free throws. Offensely it is constantly attack, attack, attack, ( off the dribble) but opponents seem to be shooting more free throws by passing and moving with out the ball.

Idon't know if it is true but word on one 8th region ref was he starting calling the 8th region because the 9th region would not let him call the boys games.
-
give me some info on this one.
-
Wordis is that players for Grant take a number on who's night it is to be the whipping boy. Constant screaming does no good, after awhile even a 3 year old will block you out. Street talk says the team has a very young player who is being referred to as the golden boy. Things don't look good for the Braves, even after 2 wins.
-
If this was your first taste of 8th region refs you better hope it was your last. There is a couple of good ones and the rest are awful, no matter who you are for. I have watched Mcneil a few times this year and yes he gets a lot of calls, calls that should be absolutely nocalls.

Does anyone have the score.
-
Oldam made it fun. I believe the last 15 years coach Gary Forest coached Oldam went to the state more than Scott did when Scott was still in the 8th.
-
Enjoy the moment a very big surprise is coming in the district.

I'm not putting down either kid when I say this. Both kids are good ball players and get a lot done for their team..but I did not see Mcneil make hardly anything besides a free throw...yes he draws contact and gets to the line...but when he won't get those calls in the District Tournament when he creates the contact almost everytime.
Ninth graders or not I'll take those 2 kids on my team anytime. Mcneil is real smart on the floor.

Mcneil does create contact, a call refs usually give to the offensive player, Grant defenders need to do a better job of positioning on defense. The off arm push off while dribbling is the call I don't understand. After about 4 obvious nocalls they called him for it late in the Grant game. That's frustrating for both players. Said 100 times a foul is a foul no matter what the time of the game.

Politician what does your last post mean, I don't understand?
Was referring to the MC-Montgomery rivalry in the 10th region, actually they are both up against the wall when it comes to Clark County.
-
I've seen both Ryle and Boone play this year it seems that when Boone is healthy they are the better team, but it might come down to who 's playing well come tournament time.
-
People already talking Montgomery winning the 10th net year. They have a nice club but in order to beat MC they better not take the summer off. Whats wrong with pulling an upset or two this year.

Grant got a much needed win. A real good team effort. When players start to realize their roles, get proper spacing and move the basketball quickly they are much more enjoyable to watch. The Kinmon kid played really well and made some big shots for Grant, as did Carr, Hunt and Blackburn. Grant had players that scored very little but still made major contributions to the win. The Braves should enjoy the moment and then get back to work. Good luck to both Grant and Walton the rest of the way.
-
I never meant to imply that Gallatin has no talent. Coach Jones's had 2 boys that could play, Trent Maddox was a real nice player and all the Carltons know how to win. Some talent and a lot of heart will beat some really good teams.
-
I do not remember Scott or MMI being in the Burley belt, but I am sure on Grant, Bourbon had an 8th grader named Williams that was behind a couple years. He was about 6ft5 but never really panned out as he got older.
-
Early on I heard a lot of good things about Boone County, haven't heard much lately, can they win the boys 9th. region.
-
How about the Walton-Grant matchup Feb. 1st. Apparently Walton manhandled Grant 1st time round, wonder if this game is going to be any different.
-
It's amazing how much coach Jones gets out of his kids. I never think they are as good as they perform, but not only do they win they beat teams that most people think do not belong on the floor with.
-
I am not sure who will represent the 9th region but if they can get by round one anything is possible after that.
-
Don't be so defensive Royals and Saints, success tends to make people jealous or at least envious. Thats a credit to MC longevity.

Grant was in the Burley belt for about 3 years. Their former coach, Ron Kinmon, Jeff Stone, and a real good athlete by the name of Pelfrey played at that time.

Marvel, you are correct about constant bashing of the coach, so let's just hope the coach isn't as stubborn as the great Billy Clyde and starts showing a little class while he is in the process of teaching these teenagers the game of basketball. Just because you were treated a certain way when you played doesn't always mean it is the right way.
