Typical Boone- NCC game, tough defense, swings in momentum, close almost regardless of any talent edge. Coach Dawn does such a good job of teaching his girls to run their offense, patiently, and finally finding a good shot. With the score tied at 40, Sydney Moss imposed her will for three straight buckets to give Boone a 6 point margin they had to fight to hang on to. Unofficially she had 21 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals. The Ninth is in faor another interesting year!

Nice to talk with you as well, Lawnboy13!

Who started for Boone this evening in the 2 slot?...Nice to Murphy in the stat line.

  2. I think the players are sorry. But there comes a time in Life that apologies can't fix things. This is one time that guys from both schools can't apologize enough to fix Saturday. I have spent the last 3-4 days really thinking about this. IMO only two kids deserve a full season. The young man that did the stomping of the player and the Kid from UX than ran off at the mouth after the game in the press conference.

UX I can't believe they even allowed their kids to attend the press conference after the game.

Just so I understand the stomp deserves a full season and some trash talking? But not a sucker punch that injured someone? Please explain? IMO its not my call to determine how long but of the offenses listed the punch was the worst of the 3.

  3. I suppose that would be correct we agree no harm in not playing. I guess we will have to agree to disagree with not having at least one or two options to play in tournaments even if they spill into sunday as a school team. You can make the same statement about AAU and High school. As for the statement "someone has to be the adult" I beleive this should not fall solely on schools but the parents need to police the majority of this.

  4. Never said there would be harm for not playing in the tournament... your statement was "so what", not what would the harm be for not playing. What does AAU ball have to to with this? We are talking about school basketball. What parents put there children in outside of school ball has nothing to do with this policy or my post.

  5. I have been involved for the last 5 years in two Boone County Middle School programs and the season consists of 20 games and a tournament. I think 2 tournaments in addition to the season one possibly the state tournament is not too many games. 20 games being a fraction is an incorrect statement. How many games do you think they play? What could the kids not gain from the exposure and experience in a State tournament?

  6. If these were the only games they played I would agree. They're not.

Why is it "important" that these kids play in state tournaments?

You did say they should get passes for Sunday, correct? I disagree.

Yes I said 2 passes so not to abuse the allowance of Sunday games. And what do you mean by "If these were the only games they played I would agree. They're not." Why would it not be important to participate in the state tournament? What do you have against the middle school programs?

  7. Coach14, so what if a middle school team can't play in a tourney? Really. These kids already play too many games. Why add on by playing on a Sunday?

There has to be one "down" day.

Apparently you didn't read the post carefully, I said I agree with the down day but it is important that these kids play in tournaments and i disagree that they play too many games. 20 games and 2 tournaments is not too many. If you cram those games to 3-4 a week that is too much but 2 games a week for 10 weeks is not too many.

  8. No need to play on Sunday.

I have mixed feelings on this. The Middle School State Tournament in Lexington is on a weekend and the games would have to be played on Sunday if the team advances. The board rejects this tournament for Boone County teams because of this rule. This limits the tournaments the middle school teams are allowed to compete in. Do I believe a day of rest is needed absolutely and Sunday seems like the best choice but let’s loosen the rule little and give two passes to play on Sunday each season. This gives our Middle School and High School programs a chance to choose wisely which tournaments to participate in. The Boone County policy below actually allows play on Sunday but this year they have decided to really put a clamp down on approving these.

    Boone Policy Below:

    Sunday and Holiday Scheduling

No regularly scheduled student activities, athletic games, practice, or open gyms shall take place on Sunday or on holidays observed in the school calendar.

With prior approval of the Principal and the Superintendent/Designee, school sponsored student activities/groups and athletic teams may practice on Sunday between 1:00 and 6:00 p.m. and at selected times on holidays to prepare for participation in a State or National tournament/competition. Travel time, or a tournament/competition or other non-athletic school sponsored event, which continues into Sunday from the previous day(s), will also be permitted with prior approval of the Principal and the Superintendent/Designee.

With prior approval of the Principal and the Superintendent/Designee, athletic teams and other school sponsored groups may participate in, but shall not sponsor, tournaments/competitions scheduled on Sundays or holidays.

  9. Boyle County's Tommy Hastings made what would have been a game-tying shot just after the buzzer and East Jessamine held on for a 57-55 road victory. C.J. Boyd scored 13 points to lead the Jaguars. The Rebels' Michael Arnett had 12 points and 11 rebounds.
