Beating NCC in the regular season a few years ago must not be a signature win? Interesting
NCC Had a bigger signature win that year (2006) they won State!

As a graduate of NEWPORT CENTRAL CATHOLIC and a 3rd generation of the catholic high school in Newport (whatever you call it) I always with NewCath, or Newport Catholic. In fact, our seniors elected to put that on our away jerseys in '96 and on the side of our helmets. It just sounds better traditionally. My Mom graduated from OLP and she calls it NewCath, and she's as women's rights as it gets.
My father who graduated from Newport Catholic in the early 50’s did not like the “NewCath” term. It's all a generational thing.

Easy, IMO this is the best balanced HC team ever. And I say that knowing my son played on the teams during the time period you mention. Each year there have been obvious improvements in the program which has shown up on the field and in the record book. In 2008 and 2009, HC could not get over the DeSales hurdle in the 2nd round of the playoffs. In 2010, they did, but lost to NCC in the regional. In 2011, HC finds itself knocking on the door again. Small steps.
This is why I rarely post on this BGP:
Your best balanced team already got beat by 17 less than a month ago. Are you telling me that your players and coaching have erased those 17 points by playing Holmes, Carroll County and Owen County?
-
Me too, but to be a great rivalry HC needs to start beating them some. If they are going to do it, this is their year
I've heard that in '06, '07, '08 and '09,,,,,what is different about this team?
-
Stick with this year. The signature win was brought up by another poster. I just wondered how an NCC fan would assess this season.
I think I did when I talked about October 22nd,,,,,who really cares about the other games, it's silly!
-
The talking back and forth about a “signature” win is silly! The only game that HC should be concerned about is the game played on October 22nd and how they are going to improve on a 17 point deficit. Newcath rolls on to the next round 42-7.
If you want to talk about signature wins,,,, Newcath has a few in their history, 1984, 2005, 2006, 2010.

I just received a breaking news alert on my cell phone from Channel 19 "Auburn Recruit from Tri-State suspended from High School Playoff game".

I’m going to guess that most of the posts are from St. Joe and St. Mary alums and/or parishioners. Traditionally those two schools have sent many kids to both NCC and BB so there is that kind of rivalry. I had siblings that went to BB and I went to NC and another sibling went to OLP. My nieces and nephews have gone to both schools (mine attend NCC) so I’m sure this is common throughout the posters on this thread. Trust me, at the family gatherings if BB beat NCC in anything I hear about it!

I'm surprised that they are ranked #1. A few years back when this senior class were freshman, they were not that good, imo. They must have gotten bigger and stronger and have good younger classes.
As Freshman they had a very difficult schedule, they we're tied with Highlands late in the 4th and had a good shot at beating them so they we not that bad.

I heard this also, I thought at first that this was one of WLW's "fake" callers but she was very passionate. I will never be able to drive south on 71 without giggling. Just amazes me that people have time in their lives to think stupid stuff like this up! I wish that Tracy would have been on the air that day.

Ride the ferry at Augusta.

It's possible you are correct. However, if it wasn't about sports why did they move to the in-laws?
So you think that a family moved just so their son can play 1 year of baseball? There are 100 reasons why a family would move and 99 of them are nobody's business but the family's.

I don’t think it is up to a 17 year old minor to transfer to any school he or she pleases, it is up to the parents / guardian of that child. And maybe the parents thought that after his experience at the previous school that he needed a place of structure, discipline and religious guidance that a Catholic school provides? I know it is impossible for some of you to believe but sports are not the only things that parents look at when choosing a school.

For a bit of a long shot: Master of Hounds ( I don't like his post)
I agree, I'm still leaving out hope for Stay Thirsty at 20-1, I know the horse hasn't shown anything in the first two Triple Crown Races but this distance may work.

Rob Lowe would've been better.
Agreed, forgot about that rumor.

Budweiser tastes great but it isn't the best for your waistline.
Budlight is good too but not as good as Full Diesel.
Have you tried Bud Select (not Select 55). i think it has a stronger flavor than Bud Lite, very similar to Bud.

I think this is great! This is a much better choice than John Stamos or Hugh Grant. I just hope it is not a “replacement” Charlie, but a new character. It seems that “Allen & Jake” had more camera time last season so it might be a smooth transition. Can’t wait till the season premier! My season premier title prediction “WHO SHOT CHARLIE?”

I don’t care about who will get the money, I don’t care who is taking money. All I want to do is be able to play craps, blackjack or any other game without having to drive for an hour!

40 states already have casinos. I guess those 40 are wrong and Kentucky in its infinite wisdom is right? We already have the lottery and horse racing. I can make a wager on any horse race in the world on my phone 24 hours a day. I can bet on any sporting event on my computer. I can play any slot machine or table game from my computer. Why can’t people understand that going to a casino is not all about gambling? It is about a “night out” with fine live entertainment, good food and the possibility that you may get lucky at the 21 table and have a free night. If it was only about gambling there wouldn’t be a casino, everyone can gamble on almost anything right now.
KEEP THE CASH IN KENTUCKY!

I would tend to believe that scratch off lottery tickets prey on the poor a lot more than any casino could.

I like The Factor, has a cool triple crown ring to it! I have a future exacta wager of Uncle Mo and The Factor at 3-1 / 22-1.

There are 2 hotels in the "immediate" area - the Hampton Inn and the Country Suites place next to the movie theatre in Wilder.
Beyond that the nearest are Erlanger/Florence and in Ohio on Beechmont/Eastgate. Perhaps the Travelodge is still functioning at the foot of the Central Bridge.
I didn't say it was not doable, BUT nothing comparable to what we have in Richmond.
You forgot Comfort Suites in Newport and Holiday Inn Express in Bellevue.

Ok. Then Evan was a DT and very, very good as well. I apologize. As long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks, he will be one of the best DL in NKY. He is a monster. Martin was a senior then, correct?
Martin was also a Junior, he is a very good player. He'll be a 4 year starter at DT which is a very rare feat at Newcath.

I apologize for not knowing this, but I believe that Evan Morse from NewCath is back. I believe that he was the DE who had 4 sacks in the state championship game against O-Cath. He has the size and frame to get some looks from the EKUs of the world. Very good athlete at DE, especially in passing situations when he can jet out and get to the corner.
I think you mean Logan Martin, Evan Morse was out with an ACL/MCL tear but he will be back next year.
