First cold football Friday, and even though it is District games for most, I got to think attendance will show a sharp drop-off for many games due to the cold.
lol.
-
Can you believe that? It was surreal. I felt bad for the two coaches' wives that I was with and for my wife more than I was mad for losing my seat. I will get there early. If you want me out of my seat, you will have to kill me!
I sat on the Elder side. They are very nice to Bluebird fans.:sssh:

As this yrs game shall be...dont see anyone blowing anyone out and a blowout in this matchup would be 3 TDS...
Should be a dandy imo:thumb:
I agree that 3 td's is a stretch.
-
Are they balanced in running and throwing? Or are they primarily a running threat with 3 stud backs?
Highlands defense is usually pretty good, but they did struggle against UC for a bit and wondering if they can stop some big backs or not.
I watched the St. X game and Elder used Schroer primarily to set up a number of screens and slants that were very effective. When the receivers weren't there, Ramsey took off for an easy 10-15. It was frustrating to watch from an X point of view. They will pull the same tricks Friday and stay on the field a long long time, IMO. It's a game of matchups and Moe's line dictated the outcome of that one. Hopefully the Birds line will step up and do the same in the Pit. It's a tall order for the Bluebird defense but they do have the Weinrich factor.
-
I think Highlands pulls this one out. I don't know much about Elder this year and how good their defense is, but I find it hard to think they can stop Highlands offense. It will come down to Highlands defense and as long as they can slow Elder down their offense should be the difference in this game.
Elder's offense is a three pronged threat.
-
........
Elder beat a Winton Woods team crawling with high major D1 kids, with all due respect to the Ft Thomas crew, Highlands isn't going to seem quite as fast / quick as they normally do.
I personally think that the Birds will look, offensively speaking, similar to the 1st quarter of the University Christian game. Elder will absorb the clock like a sponge, Houli and co. will see the field sparingly and will need to make every possession count.....the pressure on Houli will, unlike UC, be sustained throughout the contest. Biggest, most anticipated game of the 2013 season.
-
Houliston is the best passer I've ever seen play high school football.
-
The offensive and defensive lines of Highlands will dictate the outcome. It will mean the difference between a close win or a 3 td loss Friday night.
-
Is that good?
Depends on if Hope is healthy. They'll need every bit of a healthy Hope.
-
Highlands may have to ride Harris next week and he will not dissapoint imo.
Kid has size along with speed and I believe Dale is saving him for Elder. JMO
I think Elder will stuff Harris and the Birds only hope is through the air. The Bulldogs got good penetration tonight and pressured Houliston which scares me. The Elder D line is much much better than the Holmes D line. I predict a long night for Houliston.
-
Yes, after Hoge gets his year next year. Just nice seeing a soph out there doing what he did. He also is the prototypical size already. He has a cannon for an arm and showed off his legs running for that TD tonight. Him and Hoge could start somewhere else right now but we are thankful they don't.
Not sure if I agree with that statement. I think 21's passing will only get better but is not ready for the big time yet.
-
I better get my money's worth tonight.
-
Im sorry but why a poll and unfortunately why the thread Walter?
We need to start talking about the size of the kids biceps and the amount they are benching at this point.
Let's go hit the gym, Ryche!
-
The KHSAA needs to do something about this. Holmes will suffer like Harrison as Beau shoots for 400 in a half.
-
I'm predicting either 35-14 or 42-7 in a couple weeks.
-
35-14 Moeller.
-
Moeller apparently won the battle in the trenches. This is the key to defeating the Panthers. It's a tough sell to say the Bluebird lines are equivalent to Moe's. I see a three touchdown difference between these two teams come late October.
-
Then why do they play them, BF? :sssh:
So we can wax teams from Fla.
-
Elder will not pass nor will they get outside on Highlands.
And why would they...Ramsey tried both last yr and almost lost to the Birds. He quickly figured out the way to attack the Birds D and that was up the middle with Shroyer.
This game will be Elder 3yds and a cloud and of dust and burn the clock and Highlands run and gun and score quickly..JMO
And what happens if the Birds O line is unable to stifle the pass rush?
-
While I agree Elder will go to power football, don't discount their passing game this year. Ramsey's son is a dual threat QB. Something that I think could give HHS problems. A QB that can run and throw along with a Power running game will be a very formidible mix for the Birds.
Also remember they play Winton Woods before they play Highlands, so they will not be shell shocked by the speed aspect of the game.
I think this will be a very fun game to watch.
Agree 100%. X stacked the box and Ramsey made them pay dearly with an excellent passing attack. A lot of screens/slants for 5 here 5 there. When the pass wasn't there, he tucked it and ran for 10. Birds will have to hope for Elder to get some penalties/ 3rd and long situations. I also agree with QRyche, ultimately this game will be won in the trenches. Whoever wins this battle, wins the game. Elder's D line is huge and they protect Ramsey very well.
-
I just think they'll need a flawless offensive performance to keep this one in check....And that's a tall order against Elder at the Pit.
-
I watched the Elder/St. Xavier game and was very impressed with the Panthers. They can burn you a number of different ways on offense with Schroer running, Ramsey keepin', or Ramsey passing. They chew lot's of clock with their offense too. I know Holmes is next week but.... Consider this a preview. Can the Birds contain Schroer? If not, the Panthers will control the time of possession and wear out the defense. Can the defense get to Ramsey? X had a difficult time getting to him and when they did, he ran around them. Can the line protect Houliston when he does see the field? The answer to these questions will determine the outcome.
-
How bout that punt into the stands? Took a couple blue hairs out.......Coach must have had a talk with him afterwards cuz the next punt was booted into the Bluebird football team. instead.
-
Houliston, Hoge, McCoy, Towels, Bardo.. Anyone who is running this machine is gonna have redonkulous numbers right now.
agreed.....at least against non existent defenses like Harrison County's.

I'd go naked before I wore purple to the Pit. Though I may put on some so I can go to Price Hill Chili afterwards.
