if they got rid of Andy Dalton? He can't hit the side of a barn. It's a shame they're wasting that talented receiving corp with this "player".

The return of the running clock
-
Birds don't believe in moral victories. Frosh need to keep their heads up and keeo working hard. History would suggest they will have no shortage of success
Do freshmen have a running clock rule?
-
A fellow poster and I had some discussions about this game on the way home. He said that even though Highlands won, he felt as if they had lost. My reply was that every Highlands game does not have to have a running clock nor should it be expected. Highlands found out a lot of things about themselves as a football team. They were put to the test on many fronts both physically and emotionally and came out of the game with a victory. Now you take what you learned from this game, make the necessary adjustments and get ready to play the next opponent on your schedule. It is a long season and I am pretty sure that this will not be the last time that the Birds are tested.
At least until a trip to the pit.

CCH by a bunch. Question will be whether or not they call off the Dogs or inflict some payback.
You moving to Park Hills, Ryche?

From the articles it sounds like fumbles were the main factor in this game. Those things happen but thankfully Highlands had some breathing room to soften the blow. However, it seems like a lot of the teams the Birds have played score on passing touchdowns. The run defense is usually pretty solid. They'll certainly need it against Elder down the road.

It was said the game was never in doubt but the score looks awfully too close for comfort. Anyone have the box score/summary?

Sounded like there's some bad blood between these two squads. Did the coaches shake hands afterwards? Were players ejected? I heard a coach got in the face of one of the kids......yikes.:lol2:

Or John Hardin is better...
Or the kids were on BGP this week and bought what was being sold in the prediction thread.:isurrender:

27-12
Is that a typo, Raiderbird?

Birds look very sloppy from what I hear..
Please elaborate
-
Is the clock runnin' yet?

I don't see this game on the Highlands webcast site. Getting a little worried whether we will be able to hear the game or not.
Guess we'll just have to keep watchin' Johnny....

Welcome 5 Star !!! Nothing like a first post calling out the Deer Slayer !!! Love it.
I agree... the effort was there tonight. They didnt quit but their defense was somewhat demoralized in the 1st half. That performance would make most HS kids flustered.

Something before daylight, and two does around 7:30. That was all for opening morning,
Sounded like my morning. Wanna picture? See below

Please stop. Looks like there was 44 points of EFFORT tonight. Tell the kid that had the 79 yard TD reception for BS that it wasn't enough effort!!!
Maybe they were just shellshocked. Maybe the Birds were just that much faster, but it sure looked too easy for Highlands at times and when it takes more than a minute to walk off the field after the Birds scored on em' then it's warranted to question the effort.
-
It was a poor effort IMO by the Defenders tonight. No team should paste 55 on you midway through the 2nd qtr. I still say they were sending a message with this game.....Mission accomplished. Anyone want to comment on that defensive secondary?

55-14
6:30 1st qtr
This was the running clock. Fastest so far this year until Harrison Co. comes to town.
-
I saw a flagrant facemask on that kickoff return to a kid that would've probably saved the td. The coaches from BS saw it and were laughing that it wasn't caught.

Tonights post game thread title; Birds pour it on as payback for that 08' dodged bullet.:ylsuper:

At this point, an off year is going to be a season they don't win a title...period. The number of losses don't matter.
I agree that the number of losses won't matter to the Birds, but seeing fans go:taz::taz::taz: when the freshman team loses just makes me wonder how folks would react when the varsity Birds start losing games especially to teams that have suffered annual beatdowns by the Bluebirds for years now.....
-
I would think Dixie, NCC, Lex Cath, JC, and Ryle would love to give the Bluebirds a thorough beating if they could. CCH is a foregone conclusion.
How much better would the Bengals be...

They wasted Pickens and now they're going to waste Green on this average joe.
