  1. All of these posts for a scrimmage game, just think what it would be like for a real game!

It pretty easy on the 13th to understand what will happen on BGP's at around 10pm or so! The winning team will brag about the win and the loser will just state, it was a scrimmage game!

Get together and play a real game!

    With age comes wisdom.....

  2. Note on the TBNK games this year. To actually see the games you will have to pick up a converter from the TBNK. (It is free.)

Maybe somebody on here can explain that??

Gametime, if we were able to gain access to the games, would we need a converter box like Boone and Kenton in Campbell Co.?

  3. The Campbell County Access Center is more than welcome to run any of the games, but in the past they have chosen not to. If you want to see the games I'd suggest calling them and making it known it would be of value to you...

Do you have a number by chance? I would encourage everyone to call so that we Campbell Countians can enjoy the games like the rest of Northern Kentucky. Thanks Gamer....

  4. Here is the TBNK Schedule for this season...

Fri 8/20 Covington Catholic @ Ryle

    Fri 8/27 Holmes @ Lloyd

Fri 9/3 Simon Kenton @ Dixie Heights

Fri 9/10 Beechwood @ Holy Cross

Fri 9/17 Bourbon Co. @ Holmes

Fri 9/24 Scott @ Dixie Heights

Fri 10/1 Highlands @ Dixie Heights

Fri 10/8 NCC @ Holy Cross

Fri 10/15 Boone Co. @ Simon Kenton

    Fri 10/22 Cooper @ Conner

Fri 10/29 Pendleton Co. @ Ludlow

Will the folks in Campbell County get to enjoy this line up of games or are these exclusive of Kenton and Boone counties?

  5. I don't think so my friend. Others will come, but it won't be near capacity. Have you been to regular season games of late? There will be little if no students there. And the ones who come out for the big regular games like Cincy St. X and CovCath won't make this game. Just doesn't happen anymore. Wish it did.

I thought the kids have represented well in past years, but if you say so....As for the others, I have to disagree. It is not often that you get to see two of the top 5 teams in the state play in your backyard. You're going to see alot of interest in the outcome of this game. You can bet that Ryle, Cov. Cath and others will be keeping an eye on this one.... This game will be a hot post game topic across the commonwealth forums as well.

  6. What kind of crowd do you expect for the game? You think it will be like it was for any regular season last year?

Most Bluebird fans are extremely excited about this year's team and are looking forward to seeing it all come together next week. With that said, I believe that the stadium will be filled to capacity. There is alot of talk about whether or not this team is for real. I believe the stands won't just be filled with Bluebird fans. There will be alot of other communities represented as well just to see what the 2010 package looks like.

  7. There are a lot of sophs and juniors...but they're not your average sophs and juniors. My prediction is they may start off the season slow, but watch out come post season...and the next two to three years.

Slow like after a scrimmage slow?

  8. It will be a war, I just hate how it always turns out the lesser team that day will cite it's a "scrimmage."

I think you're right. If anyone thinks that these kids are going to go any less than 100%, they're sadly mistaken. The Bluebirds want to send a message that this team is the real deal and Trinity wants to give Highlands some good ole' fashioned pie in the face. To quote you, It will be a war. Nothing less.

  9. Two weeks and counting until the showdown in Ft. Thomas and it seems that, after reading some ot the posts on both sides, that there is a nervous energy of anticipation between these two squads. Are these two teams worthy of the title "rivalry"? What's at stake? Considering that this is only a scrimmage, I get the feeling that both are taking this game as much more than a tune up for the upcoming season. Something tells me that we're in for another memorable night in Ft. Thomas, Ky.....

  10. I still watch it once a week . ( Do I need help ? )

My wife deleted the game at our house. She said it was a mistake, but I guess she was tired of seeing her husband scream and yell just about every week while watching Bardo take off down the sidelines. The most electric moment in that game IMO. A fighter jet could've done a fly over and we still wouldn't have heard it after that play.....

  11. I understand the Ky Post, but from my knowledge the Local Cable franchise was given to one company years and years ago (to allow a monopoly) because they sold the local communities on how they would be community minded and bring us their customers, local programming!

BTW I have helped out from time to time on the CovCath Internet Radio Broadcast and I wish more NKy HS would follow Bishop Brossart and CovCath lead. Oh and CovCath games have over the years been on 1160 radio or some such station thanks to some of our local business owned by some of our past grads.

Good luck to SK this season!

Don Weber and NKY high school football is analogous to Harry and the Cubs! He'll be missed......

  12. I still don't believe the Birds were flat against BS. If they were flat against BS , then they were flat last year while playing and beating Cincinnati St. X . It was a very similar game.

The only thing similar between those two games were the fumbles by Connor and Collinsworth. Apart from that, they couldn't be further apart. I've never been to a game that had more electricity than that awesome night.

  13. I agree with your observation about the television coverage not hurting the gate. My friends at the TBNK have data that supports the position that the extra exposure from TV coverage dramatically increases long term gate receipts. The schedule of games listed is not the ICN (Insight) games. Insight has cutback their local staff. Don Weber, Northern Kentucky Magazine and most of their northern kentucky programming are gone. The games listed will be broadcast by the Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky. They provide public, educational and government access television for their participating members. TBNK members include Kenton County, Covington, Taylor Mill, Villa Hills, Ludlow, Bromley, Ft. Mitchell, Lakeside Park, Ft. Wright, Park Hills, Edgewood, Crestview Hills, Independence. Boone County is a member but has given official notice (and filed suit) to withdraw from the TBNK which will be effective next year. The TBNK covers events for their participating cities and counties. When the opportunity arises to pick up a great team like Highlands on the road at the venue of a participating city, the TBNK jumps at the chance to broadcast the game.

No more Don Weber? No countdown to kickoff? No post game show? I'm checking into rehab. Friday night's won't be the same. If this is true, NKY just lost a local icon IMO.

  14. How do you arrive at that conclusion?

You miss the point. In my facetious attempt to expose a very suspect rating system, I obviously ruffled a few of your blue feathers. Bottom line: Johnson Central is not the 32nd best team in the state of Ky.

  15. It's hard not to laugh at some of these Ky. state preseason polls when you see a team like Johnson Central, arguably the Birds' toughest game in their quest for a 4th straight title, ranked #32 in the state and #8 in their division. I watched this team play Highlands last year. They return alot of high quality players and gave the Brids their toughest challenge defensively. Highlands at #2 is either overrated or JC is extemely underrated. Whatever the case, it's shaping up to be a very competitive year of football with no gimmies for the Highlands Bluebirds.....

  16. The Highlands vs. St. X game last year was aired on CBS College Sports Network. It was a great broadcast. Several cameo shots of Chris Collinsworth, Merrill Hoge and others celebs. The atmosphere of David Cecil Stadium was electric. I have heard that several of the local AD's are not overly receptive to live broadcasts of their football games. In addition to the concerns about the broadcast hurting the gate, they are not looking to add any more items to their "to do" list on game day. Fox Sports Ohio typically carriers a few N. KY games on their Thursday night schedule. The Telecommunications Board of Northern Kentucky (in Kenton and Boone Counties) with Gametime at the helm, does a great job covering high school football games.

Hurting the gate? please. $5 is hardly going to hurt most folks wallets, especially when it comes to watching a superb high school football team like Highlands. I myself enjoy watching and then having the opportunity, at my leisure, to review the games at a later time. It's frustrating when the majority of ICN games are with Kenton Co. teams. The schedule needs more balance between the counties. Out of the 22 teams slated for television this season, only 2 are from Campbell County. That's pathetic IMO.

  17. Last year we had one of the best teams in NKY history play and win a state championship as well as end up nationally ranked in the top 3 yet still seemed to be shunned by the local cable network ICN6. The Highlands Bluebirds were not featured in any of the games of the week. Does anyone have any info on this year's criteria for making the cut? Now that Highlands has seemingly come back down to earth this year, maybe they'll start featuring them again. Let me guess, hmm, probably the Ryle game simply b/c the consensus is a potential defeat for the Birds.....
