Strength of Schedule Discussion
My view is that getting blown out depresses the fan base and negatively influences participation in the program by the student body. Once you have success, and can SUSTAIN it, then by all means beef up the schedule.

Strength of Schedule Discussion
I thought the SK thread was getting out of hand and the subject had really changed into a debate on strength of schedule issues. So, do you really think Grant County would benefit by playing Trinity? Does getting pounded by a superpower really help your program that is in a developmental state?

I think a new thread on the merits of strong scheduling would not be a bad idea.

Middle School Holdbacks Banned from Athletic Participation
My kid is 17 during his senior season and competes for scholarships with kids two years older than him. Football programs want kids that are maturationally ready to play in their freshman year. This means you had better be at least turning 19 during you senior year. Coaches wanting to keep multi million dollar jobs have no interest in red shirting freshman. If KHSAA is going to allow you to compete in varsity sports as a senior as long as you do not turn 19 until after Aug 1st, you are doing nothing but taking advantage of the rules in place. Furthermore, if you are going to allow early enrollment in primary school, then you have to allow middle school holdbacks. Kentucky HS football is already disrespected nationally. If you force this rule, it will only get worse and we will be turning out hs males that are less successful academically, and receiving even less athletic scholarship.

Middle School Holdbacks Banned from Athletic Participation
Has anybody on here looked at enrollment numbers in colleges these days? The enrollments are nearly 60% female. Thats 3:2 for those of you that like fractions. What does this say? It says that 17 year old males are not cutting it n College. Males need an extra year of maturity before College. Two would probably be even better. holding kids back in middle school just corrects an injustice

A GCL school would be too big of a jump. But there is no reason Cov. Cath, Lex Cath, Boyle or Ballard or Male could not be on the schedule. SK also finished a home and home with Scott Co. the year before last.. I believe you need to have another 6A school on your pre-district schedule.

Trinity , most years, is the same level as Moeller. How would you like to have that standing in your way of a state title?????!!!!!!
-
Simon Kenton 2014
Speaking of scheduling, what exactly did playing Moeller do for Cov Cath last year? The Cov Cath faithfull sure were not to happy with those Crusader flags running around their stadium every 3 minutes and a Crusader score!

If you opponents receivers run 4.5 40s and your dbs run 4.9 40's scheduling is not going to help you.

I can't believe that after the last 5 years we are still harping on SK scheduling. If the point of scheduling is to prepare you for the post season, then since SK has been the last team standing in its district the last two years the scheduling is vindicated. What did playing Colerain or LaSalle do for Ryle? What did playing HHS do for Campbell other than humiliate themselves as the kids in their feeder system watched? SK has lost in the playoffs the last two years to teams that were simply more talented. Playing a GCL schedule would not have helped.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
When they win 15 out of 17. BTW, Central KY supports this format as well.

I don't know about that. What is it, 15 out of the last 17 titles won by T or X? The only exceptions that come to mind are Scott county last year or Dixie, way back when. I just don't see that happening when you have so many programs located so close together all competing for talent , and some offering relatively easy paths to state titles.

How to get recruited for D-1 football
Would you consider a request for transcripts as showing interest??????

So you have already forgotten Cooper's run to a state title game?

Not in 6A. Regional Championships matter in 6A because with those 2 ncaa programs in Louisville, its about as far as you are going to get.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
A better example is Scott County now. A large, isolated high school with a diverse population.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
Because no region wants to have go through T and X year in and year out. Just about every year other than last year, every one else in 6A is playing for runner up.

Has Andrew visited any of these schools? Thanks.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
Agreed. Sounds like they just want to save $ on travel and make it more convenient for their fan base to attend playoff games.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
Why focus on NKY6A if it also has support in other regions? "and from schools in Central Kentucky."

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
You are a T guy right? How many players in this year's senior class will playing d1, d2 or naia ball next year?

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
HHS is unique situation with a cult like football culture that has been bred for generations. Now, if you want to criticize NKY 6A schools for not being competitive with CCH, you would have a valid point. No reason NKY6A schools should not be more competitive with CCH, but even they get blown off the field by HHS, and as we have seen in the preseason, HHS is blown off the field by Trinity.
-
NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
HHS roster is about 110. NKY 6A is typically 85-90. About 1 in 4 males in HHS play football. In other sports, they are completely uncompetitive.

NKY 6A schools beg KHSAA not to play Louisville schools first three rounds
I would love to see Simon Kenton go with an all male student population with 2200 males in the building. Then we would have a more level playing field. Could you imagine the combined rosters of Dixie and SK on a single squad? That would be competitive with the Louisville schools.

How to get recruited for D-1 football
Completely agree. 95% of recruiting literature is pure garbage sent by unpaid GAs justifying their existence.
