  1. I believe you are ascending on a road thats not supposed to be taken on here...

Mayfield did not play anyone like LCA all season and I said that, that would really hurt them in the finals. Maybe had they played someone who was explosive as them it might have been different. But I'd be willing to say that the coaches/players just hadn't seen anything like it and didn't know how to react.

Trousdale TN, was pretty explosive...they scored 40 on Mayfield in Week 1...I am well aware of BGP rules thank you and was just asking a question...Mayfield has seen better teams than this LCA team in recent years.

  2. Every one of the players on this team has played since at least 7th grade for LCA and most have played since Elementary.

This Senior class was our 1st class of 5th/6th Grade Football players when we started our Elementary Program - Coach Rains' 1st year here at LCA.

    Nice try.

That's what I figured...it really is amazing what LCA has done in a few decades! Mayfield will tell you the key to successful football is starting early like 3rd grade...they run the same plays in 3rd grade they do your 12th grade year!

You could really tell that this team was gelled together...With many private schools it seems they buy titles, but this team didn't look like a private team persay! Thanks for the info!

  3. Yes I am serious...if you know anything about Football, you would know that a forced t/o is also counted by the defensive players (DB's & LB's) making plays and being in the right position to DEFEND the passes - they tipped the balls because they were where they were coached to be to handle the passes. (it is not just pressure on the QB)

I also agree with you that the Mayfield QB's arm was not as strong as you would have liked it to be - but wasnt that the same QB you all have had ALl year long helping you to average 47 PPG? Hmmmm sounds like they just met a better Defense this game than they were accustomed to seeing.

    IMO

IMO...that is what makes us differ...watch film on Guhy and you will see a QB who plays lights out some games and if way off on others!!!

  4. I was wondering when we would see a post along these lines. I haven't seen Hazard, but I do think Mayfield is the clear #2 in the state this year. And here are a couple of scores that lead me to say this - 10/23 Mayfield 42 Crittenden County 7; 11/20 Mayfield 31 Crittenden County 28. You may look at those scores and say it looks like Mayfield got worse or it proves Mayfield is not clearly #2. I look at those scores and say comparing game scores does not tell you which team is better. In a one game scenario between quality teams, sometimes strange things happen. So how much better is Mayfield than Crittenden County? How much better than Hazard is LCA? Is LCA really 5 TD's better than Mayfield? All we can go on is what happened and the fact is Mayfield is the state runner up. The final score of this game means nothing more than LCA beat Mayfield in this game. Who knows what the score would look like if they played again next Saturday?

Mayfield is #2 for sure...hands down, I would say Crittendon/Hazard are very close for #3...

  5. The 1 pass was supposed to be a playaction keep and the QB was supposed to run it. He was chastized by Coach Rains for throwning the pass. LCA has enough class to not run the score up when up by 29 points.

I beleive this is what happened...Mayfield was out of the game, but you still have to play til the final horn...not bad sportsmanship on LCA, just a kid making a decision...I'm sure Coach Rains was saying...oh crap...:ohbrother:

  6. I was there at the game...LCA's defense SWARMED to the ball and punished the ball carriers thus CREATING the turnovers - the Mayfield team was not used to getting hit as hard as LCA was bringing it - these were Forced Turnovers. Also, the LCA players were also coached up very well and prepared for this game so they were where they needed to be when they needed to be there.

If it would have been even more lopsided except for 2 blown coverages on the 2 long plays.

#1 Burdette for LCA was the FASTEST player on the field...sorry to tell you that on here.

Are you serious, were we watching the same game...On three of the Ints...Guhy just flat out threw horrible passes, the WR fell down on the one that was picked at the goal line. The other two were tipped passes if I remember correctly. Guhy wasn't even under any really big pressure on the ints. Catching a wounded duck is NOT a forced turnover.

Now maybe the fumbles were forced, and I believe there was only one that was recovered by LCA.

  7. After a lot of boasting from other teams, I think we now know who had the best skill players in Class A.

If the line in a skill position or secondary then yes! Line dominated for LCA Witt could have taken a nap in the pocket and, Guhy threw it like a girl on several passes...

It doesn't take much for skill players to look great...I would bet on 3 of LCA TD's and 2 Mayfield TD's there weren't defensive players within 3 yards of them...

  8. ^Wow, big difference between the fans of teams who've won several titles and those who haven't.

I will say this was a very impressive win. I thought it would be a close competitive game but apparently I was wrong.:D

This was NOT the Mayfield team of this year! Mayfield gets the Int. at the first series, goes on the score and I believe it is a different game...what happens LCA picks off a wounded duck and marches down and scores...there goes Mayfield's momentum out the window!

I think they put that salve on the football...lol...I can't wait to see how many fumbles Mayfield had...you just can't do that and expect to win!

LCA was better and congrats...totally whipped Mayfield's line and QB shredded pass "D" that played lights out the last two weeks.

YOU CANNOT TURN THE BALL OVER THAT MANY TIMES AND NOT GET KILLED. Frankly, I just don't see how Mayfield turns the ball over so much tonight. Refs were awful...lots of missed calls both ways, wouldn't have made a difference but they should have been better imo!

Two great kids, QB Guhy & K/P Wynstra picked a bad night to have their worst games ever!!! Guhy looked nervous and DID NOT throw but maybe 2 good passes all night! Lots of off target and lofts that had ZERO chance...Set single game records for Ints & turnovers tonight by a mile!

Wynstra wasn't exactly put in good situations, but special teams was painful for sure all night!

    Impressions of LCA:

    * I was impressed by #75 and the rest of the line for LCA...

    * #75 absolutely decleated #15 Richardson for Mayfield...not sure how he stayed in game, but WOW!

    * #30 gets a head of steam and look out!

    * QB did his job well, Mayfield wasn't able to get to him all night! Good leader and Tebow jump pass for TD was very nice!

    * #20 for LCA and some others were very mouthy all night...probably just emotion, but act like you've been there before!!!

*This team was NOT 35 points better, 10-14 pts is iffy, but tonight the full moon just got Mayfield...or at least that is what we will say!:D

Loved the stadium...much better venue than the Pizza Box imo!!!

Congrats and thanks for Xavier Shelton, Tyrese Murrell and the rest of the Sr. Class. You truly have been a pleasure to watch and I for one appreciate the maturity and team work effort that you have showed all year! It is back to Mayfield football attitude thanks to those guys!!!

  9. That's what I thought you meant. Couldn't agree more.

If you're up 16, go for 40. No mercy. Keep going for the jugular.

If you get a running clock, THEN think about taking the foot off the gas.

And if you lose going "all out", then at least you will know that you left everything on the field.

Especially in the finals, because you aren't going to run it up on Boyle...I too thought of the Lex Cath game when I saw this game tightening!

My heart just sank for the Flash and I wanted to :puke:

  10. This game will be talked about awhile and especially the no-call on the delay of game (that should have been called) as Boyle County attempted a 38-yard FG to tie the game up towards the end of the 4th quarter.

That is a shame to have that call missed...doesn't surprise me though! Congrats to Boyle on huge comeback and to the Flash for a great showing...It really seemed like Lone Oak went into a stall offense and it really hurt them!

  11. I agree. They out thought themselves on that one. I hate it, but I think you nailed it. I would have gone Cobb, Locke, Conner until you score. I have seen coaches do this so many times. I am still a big Brooks supporter, and always will be, .... but I didn't like the playcalling down the stretch once they got in striking distance.

If Newton scores on the QB run around the end, Joker is a genius and surprised UT...however, 5 of 8 play calls when it is crunch time and Cobb doesn't touch the ball...UNACCEPTABLE!
