  1. I've talked with two coaches I know about them and both have had positive reviews thus far. How well they hold up will be the main thing and was the most common complaint with the Rawlings. If they wanted to best ball on the market Wilson would have been the best choice imo.

  2. I think Peterson really Ran that team for Bath Co? There's a reason Johnny only lasts so long at schools.

Because most of the time he's driving 2-3 hours one way. Johnny Poynter wins games with every style imaginable under the sun, he's a straight shooter and people don't like that, simple as that.

  3. It's 1A Football in KY, Dayton will be fine, it goes in cycles. Finishing with less than 20 is really not that uncommon, probably happens more times than not for over half of the class. Take away your Beechwood's and Pikeville's of the world and I would say the average number of players on most 1A school's roster is somewhere between 25-30 at the beginning of the season, throw in a few guys that quit and some injuries and it is easy to end up with less than 20 by playoff time.

  4. I think Bracken has a shot to win some games next year. It looks like they return most of the kids that contributed. The offense and defense was vastly improved statistically from 2014 to 2015 so with them not losing much I would expect another jump.

  5. I don't get where people are saying they need to step up their strength of schedule, where Brossart is currently at, it doesn't matter who they are beating as long as they are beating someone. This program done a great job of fighting back this year with a strong group of seniors, often times in high school sports, you've got what you've got. I see them taking a step back next season because of the massive loss of that senior class, it's just extremely hard to replace a group that large that done so much for them at any 1A school not named Beechwood. They will still be competitive and a winning season would not surprise me.

  6. Team speed isn't the issue we haven't played a team all season that Lovell McClure or Rowe couldn't out run. Team speed isn't 3 people, its the entire group. Lovell has broke big TD runs all year an no one caught him. We were expected to win at least 7-8 games expected by who, you? only exception would have been 5A Pulaski (should win 5A championship) 2A Danville (Should win 2A championship) we have lost to teams we should have beaten Garrad county ( had the chance to win but lost 20-8.. Had 3-4 possession stall including 2 inside 5 yard line an one other fumbled in red zone) I bet you wouldn't have let that fumble happen Somerset 21-20 loss had TD fumbled in end zone including 4 other Turnovers.. Dang, I bet Parkey told them to turn it over Poor playing calling..you do great on Madden calling plays why can't he be as good as you? Wayne county 21-13 loss poor play calling and once again turn overs not to mention Lovell did not play second half used running backs that normally do t even run the ball and QB went out in 4th..Parkey should tell those boys they cant get hurt or have turnovers, why isn't he telling them? Knox Central down 20-13 @ half then let poor play calling including a 4th an 1 with 8 minute left only to punt..I would have went for it, I go for it on Madden all the time and it works. The moral of what is wrong with Rockcastle football is that when Tom Larkey left everything has not even been half the same. 1 decent winning season of 9-3 an the rest have been horribly bad. Change is needed @ The Rock and everyone in the county knows where that change needs to start at and has known for quiet a while but for some be known reason it doesn't appear it will and that is really a disappointment for the players .. Players parents .. And the fans..I live through my kids and my team and you are embarassing me so i'm going to point some fingers.

Every program in the nation has a guy like this. It's sad really, coaches are only as good as their kids, when Parkey has talent he wins, when he don't have it the wins are limited, same as any coach in the state.

  7. None for the first four years, but I imagine after that they win a title roughly every other year. :thumb:

Beatty is a heck of a coach but some places just aren't going to ever be perennial winners, you just have to ride the waves when their high and try to schedule to prevent the huge crash when those waves start to break.

  8. It's just amazing how many people think High School coaching is somehow similar to coaching college, too many variables that are out of a coaches hand in some of these situations. Put a Bob Beatty at Jenkins and see how many titles he's winning.

  9. How is my argument invalid? Your teaching contract is separate from your coaching contract. Your contract as a coach is to win is it not?

No, actually it isn't, in most cases the contract in writing is littered with terms such as "provide students with a positive role model", etc. Haven't looked at many district contracts that say you must win this many games. If the school is throwing resources and things at the program such as colleges do then it is acceptable, unless they are running things like a college or pro program then no it is not acceptable.

  10. Isn't that what you do? Plenty of schools coaches do not work as teachers such as Lafayette, Taylor Co. West Jessamine, these guys are just coaches. Then the coaches who are teachers have separate contracts from their teaching job, you do not sign a contract that goes hand and hand with your teaching job. You can be fired as a coach and still have your teaching contract they do not go together. Plenty of coaches have been fired or resigned from their coaches spot and stayed on to teach, the contracts are completely separate from one another.

You have to apply for two separate jobs, one is a coaching job inside the district, the other is a teaching job.

I would hate to be a non tenured teacher that was asked to resign from a coaching position I am going to say the chance of you coming back to a teaching position in the school in that situation is very slim. Your argument is still invalid, Hard to teach a full day of class and be the best coach you can possibly be.
