  1. Just saw that Kristy Orem is stepping down as AD and girls hoops coach at Pikeville. She's been their AD since 2016, if I'm not mistaken. It will be interesting to see who they hire to replace her, and whether or not there is any attempt to change anything at Pikeville or if the new AD just steps in and keeps things rolling as they have been.
  2. Matthew Taylor has headed to take the boys job at Shelby Valley after 4 years in charge of the Cougars boys program. Letcher Central is now open.
  3. Per WYMT. Was head coach at Letcher County Central for the past 4 seasons.
  4. Still at 51 jobs that have come open, and down to 4 jobs that remain to be filled. 1.) Harlan 2.) McCracken County 3.) Nelson County 4.) Pike County Central
  5. Eric Perry resigned on October 30th. So that's 188 days without a head football coach. That's over half of a freakin' year. Bonkers.
  6. Smith is a 2005 Frankfort grad, and played tight end at Johnson C. Smith University for 2 years before exiting football and finishing out his college career at Western. He served a stint in the Army before joining the football coaching ranks. I believe he has generally worked in the IT department for school districts, which is an interesting alternative to having someone who's "in the classroom". Per @J. Peterman in the open job thread: "Joshua Smith was an assistant at Sayre this past season. He has had couple of stints at Frankfort as Def. Cord. Was at Shelby during their last semi-final run. Had a short stint at KSU with Coach John L. Smith Played college football at school in North Carolina. Played for Foley at Frankfort."
  7. From the renderings and reporting I saw, they're building the new school between the Unseld Learning Academy and Thomas Jefferson Middle School off of Poplar Level Road. Three story classroom wing, and then a separate wing for what appears to be two gymnasiums. I didn't see any plot plans, so I'm not sure what the plans are for an athletic stadium, but it appears that they are building the school on the current site of the (very dilapidated) baseball and football fields for Thomas Jefferson Middle School.
  8. He was the girls head coach at East Ridge for a few seasons before joining the assistant coaching staff on the boys team for the last season or two. He will also be joined by former George Rogers Clark and Alice Lloyd College basketball standout Blaine Keathley who will be the head assistant coach, per the D&D Sports Network.
  9. Keaton Belcher 2002-2005 Pendleton County High School (Player) 2006-2009 Belmont University (Player) 2010-2012 Eastern Kentucky University (Graduate Assistant) 2013-2014 Pendleton County High School (Assistant Coach) 2015-2019 Pendleton County High School (Head Coach) 2020-2022 Ryle High School (Head Coach) Belcher was voted the NKY Player Of The Year in 2005 as a senior at Pendleton County after helping the Wildcats win the 10th Region Tournament. He was also named 2nd Team All-State by the Courier-Journal, 3rd Team All-State by the Kentucky Associated Press, and was on the Kentucky All-Star Team in both the Kentucky-Ohio and Kentucky-Indiana All-Star Games. He played college basketball at Belmont University where he helped the Bruins reach the NCAA Tournament in 2006, 2007, and 2008. After graduating from Belmont, Belcher went to Eastern Kentucky University while he was a graduate assistant while earning his masters degree in sports administration. He joined the coaching staff at Pendleton County as an assistant for the 2012-13 school year, and then took over as head coach beginning for the 2014-15 school year following the resignation of Ed Cravens. In 5 seasons as head coach at Pendleton County the Wildcats had a combined record of 83-72. Additionally in 2017 Belcher led the team to its first winning season in 5 seasons and he also coached 2019 Kentucky Mr. Basketball Dontaie Allen through to graduation. Belcher left Pendleton County to accept a position as head coach and athletic director at Ryle High School beginning in the 2019-20 school year. He resigned at Ryle after three seasons as head coach and a combined record of 34-50.
  10. I'm pretty positive this season's schedule is just the same as last years with the locations swapped for the games. I know for sure that those first 6 games are correct. That would make the 2024 schedule: Aug 23 at Ryle Aug 30 vs. Highlands Sep 6 vs. Simon Kenton Sep 13 at Dixie Heights Sep 20 vs. Beechwood Sep 27 at Holmes (District) Oct 4 vs. Grant County (District) Oct 11 - BYE Oct 18 at Harrison County (District) Oct 25 vs. Mason County (District) Nov 1 at Campbell County
  11. Williamstown has started their interview process. I was told they've had 5 interviews. The only name I was given was David Jump, a 2014 alum who has been an assistant coach at Midway University and currently at Carroll County.
  12. Chad Fields informed his players on Wednesday that he's stepping down as head coach.
  13. It looks like the tweets were deleted. The Hinton twins both played last year at East Hamilton High School down near Chattanooga, TN. The team was 6-5 and lost in the opening round of the 5A playoffs in Tennessee last year (the second-largest class). Vanzale is a 3-star WR/CB, Class of 2025. Last year in 10 games played he had 58 receptions for 850 yards and 10 touchdowns. That's about 6 receptions per game and 15 yards per catch. On defense he had 37 silo tackles,5 assisted tackles, 1 interception, and 1 fumble recovery. He currently holds offers from Liberty University, Miami (OH), UT Martin, Wofford College, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, Purdue, Austin Peay, Toledo, Tulane, and Eastern Kentucky. Michael is a RB/LB, Class of 2025. In 10 games played he had 132 carries for 675 yards and 8 touchdowns. That figures to a little over 5 yards per carry. On defense he had 55 solo tackles, 21 assisted tackles, 1 sack and 2 fumble recoveries. I don't believe he's received any college offers yet. Vanzale's Twitter and Hudl accounts still show him as being at East Hamilton, but Michael's show him as a Paducah-Tilghman student.
