  1. A twenty win season would be great, but if they do not quite reach that total why would that be a disappointing season. Why is this schedule any different than schedules of the past several years that have not produced a 10 win season? If you really check the schedule you will see it is probably tougher than the past couple of seasons. Why would you even question their size or talent level? Are you a full time scout? You do not know the amount of hard work and how much heart these young men have. Instead of trying to give backhanded compliments why don't you just wish them good luck for successful season.

I don't think he meant this as a backhanded compliment. He simply meant is as, Bracken County's schedule is reasonably easy, and they have the talent to win 20 games.

  2. Let's don't get carried away and start fueling anyone's fire!

Overlooking, or disregarding Mason County is a recipe for disaster. We've been practicing for Mason County's 1/2 court trap since the conclusion of last season's regional tournament encounter in which we trailed 34-2 at one point. Their program has earned our attention and respect. We are of the belief that to be the best you have to beat the best, and until we clear the Scott and Mason County hurdles, you will hear no such chest-thumping from us.

We appreciate the kind thoughts, and I sincerely hope that you are correct in your assumptions. The Scott Eagles are an excellent basketball team, and our encounter on January 2nd in Alexandria should speak volumes to just who is deserving of the Number 2 (or Number 3) spot.

Shows why no matter how many times Brossart beats your school, it's hard for you to dislike them!

  3. Here's the rest of Trinity's schedule:

Possible semi-finals rematch with Clark County in the Republic Bank Classic is interesting. Then home games against Seneca, Male, and Eastern and a trip to Jeffersontown are going to be tough as well. Can the Rocks continue their strong play and finish in the top 3 of the 7th region, or have they peaked too early?

With that schedule we will certainly find out how good Trinity really is.

  4. The Breds improve to 6-3.

    The Wildcats fall to 5-5.

Should be a great 38th district tourney as all of these teams could win district this year.

Right now I would have to rank the 38th district like this:

    1) Nicholas County

    2) Harrison County

    3) Pendleton County

    4) Deming

For the first time in years, it's truly a four-team race for the 38th District Championship. Should make for an exciting postseason.

  5. Congrats Bracken and good luck in the championship.

Always a battle between these two teams.

We will see you again at Pendleton on January 5th.

I had this wrong in my prediction thread. It's a messy round robin system. But in a nutshell, Cordia lost to Whitefield Academy. Which means Bracken County and Pendleton were the only schools with 2 wins in their pool. This means the head-to-head outcome is the tiebreaker. Which of course Bracken County won tonight, advancing them to the finals. If Cordia had beat Whitefield Academy, Pendleton would be in the championship.

Anyways, congrats to the Polar Bears on a big win. They slowed down this high-scoring Pendleton County offense and made them grind it out in the halfcourt. Freshman Mason Monroe had a potential game-winning shot from just inside halfcourt rim out. Tough loss to swallow for the Wildcats. They take on Harrison County at 6:30 tomorrow in the 3rd place game.

  6. Mason County this year is Setty and Gilbert and last year's JV team, this may be a chance for some teams that haven't beaten them in the past to win this this year. Is the transfer from Montgomery playing? Think they will miss Barner's athleticism this year.

Yes, the transfer from Montgomery County is playing. His name is Logan Manship. He's currently the 7th man i believe.

I agree with you about missing Barner's athleticism. Before the season, it appeared Mason County and Clark County were on the same level. It appears early on that Clark County is pulling away fast from Mason County.

  7. These are the pairings for Bracken County's holiday tournament. It starts Saturday. Any thoughts? I would consider Pendleton County and Bracken County the favorites entering it.
